Hotel Casa Grande by marktynernyc Great location - about mid point between the train station and the Plaza Arenal. A couple small sherry bodegas and one major international bodega are just a few blocks away - I could walk about four blocks and be at the market where snails, asparagus, various fish and crustascens, sausages, blancoi chorizo, carne del torro, olives, fruits - a great market. The church nearby had it's paseo my first night in Jerez - late at nightIi was awoken by saetas being sung as the paseo returned to the church. Seeing the pentinents in their black robes emerging from the church, the child choir seings, thchurch bells ringsing, inscense in the air and then seeing the paso slowly emerge from the church, was fascinating to watch. Also nearby is a gypsy neighborhood. Monica made me feel very welcomed - offering me a late night Jerez brandy as we talk about the caballero feria, the bodegs, the high number of millionaires that live in Jerez.
