Small and friendly hotel

We stayed in Jerez for two nights so that we could visit the Feria. It was very difficult to get a hotel room without paying a small fortune. The bigger hotels charge about four times the usual rates during the week of the Feria and can still sell the rooms. We eventually found a small to medium sized hotel near the centre of town which we booked, in February, and paid in advance, through an agent Destinia.com. (Spanish site).

We paid 96.30 euros per night (£66.41) making it the most expensive hotel on our holiday, but then we wanted to visit the Feria. This would be a “Feria Season” price, it would normally be less expensive.

The room was rather small for two, but it and the bathroom were well kept and adequate for a couple of nights. It did not have air conditioning, but it was possible to get a flow of air from the outside through the room and out to a covered inner courtyard, so it was not too hot – and it was May. (The Trujillo was cooler than the so called air-conditioned modern hotel where we stayed on the Costa del Golf !)

Next door to the hotel was a small café where we had coffee and rolls for breakfast. There was a hotel garage for parking almost opposite the hotel. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful.

We caught one of many special buses to the Feria which went from the Rotonda de los Casinos – almost the central point of Jerez. There are several underground car parks in Jerez including the new one beneath Plaza del Arenal.
