Nice and centrally located

Hotel Atarazanas Málaga is a boutique hotel, whatever this means. A nice place, 3 stars, nothing spectacular but comfortable and... quite cheap, with rooms at 60 euros a night.

Unique Quality: The rooms was spacious enough and will all comforts... correct, I would say. What I liked best was the fact that there wasn't a carpet on the floor - I'm sort of paranoid about carpets, they never look/smell clean. I also appreciated the fact that there was a small resturant/cafeteria on the ground floor and just next door, a small supermarket.

Another Waste of Money

by Birgie about Hotel Atarazanas Boutique

Beware of the "boutique" style hotels, they have brochures that fall way short of the creative photo editing and descriptions. Also beware, Americans, that when you stay in a hotel that advertises say, 60 or 70 euros a night it only means for you and one guest, if you are 2 adults and have a child, add 25 euros to that price and prepare to be disappointed at the little bitty room and cot they put in there. Atarazanas was a prime example of this disappointing but fairly common hotel situation. In the U.S. for $120 we are used to a luxury room with large double beds which a child could fit into with one of us easily. The first room they put us in in Atarazanas has the second ugliest view in all of Malaga (Hotel Sur got first place for that) and had a nice big patch of mold on the wall, the beds were jammed in wall to wall so we demanded a better room and got one, slightly better up in the "attic" on the top floor but at least we all had our own twin bed!!! Now I have a nice big box to talk about service. The guy at the reception was okay, he was fairly good about helping us out, too bad for him we were a little bewildered and had a million questions and I was really lame with the safe in the room but he was patient and friendly. The breakfast "buffet" was part of our hotel rate but they normally charge 10 euros for it and there was rotten fruit there, no coffee or cold coffee, a few plates of sweet rolls and meats which would be gone very quickly and not replaced even if you got there really early! The bread was stale and the young woman who was supposed to be restocking the buffet was totally - sorry, I hate to rag on people - useless. It was clear she didn't give a mouse's donkey because the "buffet" was lacking in much food, dirty, out of plates and silverware, etc. both mornings I was there. Thank God it was free for us!!!
