Accommodation in Malaga
My daughter and I will be travelling to Andalucia for 10 days in May and will be staying in Malaga for 2 nights. We are looking for some centrally located accommodation. We're not interested in expensive 5 star hotels but moreso budget type accommodation, even hostels would be ok so long as it's clean, friendly and has a nice feel to it. Quirky and different is ok too. Budget to medium price range is our choice.

This one does look suitable and is within the city itself but some walking distance to the main bus or train stations - say around 30 minutes walk - but also reachable on bus from Alameda. El Riad Andaluz http://www.elriadandaluz.com/

Hi, there is one very centrally located (spot on center of the city) hostal in Málaga; Hostal Larios. It is clean and refurbished in 2005 or so. This hostal has a good reputation and isn´t expensive; double room price is less than 50€ per night if I remember correcly.
Larios street, where the hostel is located, is the main street of Málaga and has been reformed not many years ago to a pedestrian street. There is a choice of traditional cafés nearby (for example: Café Central, plaza de la constitución has great breakfast churros with thick hot chocolate drink)and there are restaurants nearby where the locals go.

Thank you so much to everybody who responded to my queries...I never imagined I'd have so many responses from so many people. Your ideas have been far more helpful than all the travel books I've been wading through.

the old school house . will cost you 8 to 11 euros a night per person. its a short bus ride but is in a select area next to the beach . this is a hostel type place but its very modern . clean and if you want to pay a bit more you can get private rooms . the bus is 1.10 euros and stops right outside . or if you dont fancy the bus . you can stay in the hostel tilos . which is very central and will cost you 45 euros for a double rom. this is the cheapest you will get if you want to stay in the city. hostel tilos is really more like a small guest house . its not really a hostel. and is less than five minutes walk from the coach and train stations
