Hostal Juanita is very central and a short walk from the Terminada Station. My first impressions were very good, the owner is friendly, helpful and speaks enough English to make things simple. As it was the first place on my holiday, I was quite happy with my stay there.
Single rooms were about 30 euros, while I shared a triple room, which was 54 euros (18 each). Very, very basic but also very clean. We had only one plug socket and one light (and one light switch) in our room, which was abit inadequate. Although my bed was very comfortable, my travelling companion could feel the springs through his mattress. We had a sink, a wardrobe, a table, three small bedside cupboards and a chair. The room was not en-suite (though en-suite rooms were available).
Being on the fourth floor on a small pedestrian shopping street, the place was very peaceful, with views across the rooftops.
Unique Quality: The hostal was on the fourth floor of an old, character building, with big stained glass windows at each landing. There is a small lift. Next to the lift on the ground floor lives an elderly Spanish lady, who watches the world (i.e. you) go by from her small living room doorway :-)
I read in a magazine review that Hostal Juanita is one of the very cheapest places to stay in Malaga.
Directions: Calle Alarcon Lujan runs parallel to the main Alameda(?) Avenue and joins Calle Larios (main shopping street) at its southern end.
