Malaga bus station to Fuengirola?

by oxymoron

after a weeks visit to Nerja I will be travelling to Fuengirola for a weeks stay. I can easily get coach from Nerja to Malaga bus station, but where do I go from there? Do I have to take the airport bus and get the train from there - or is it easy to reach Malaga train station/does it go to Fuengirola?
Ayudame por favor...

Hello Oxy: Hans and I have taken the train from Malaga to Fuengirola. If you can easily get from Nerja to Malaga by bus, you can easily catch the train also. I believe the train station and the bus station are in the same Main Stations.

The local train is called CERCANAS and it stops at the main train station which s called MARIA ZAMBRANO or Vialia. This is a large modern building containing shops and is the main railway station for Malaga. The CERCANIAS train station is actually down one floor and is clearly signed. t is on the left hand side of the station as you look at it from the main street in front (where all the taxis are).
The Cercanias starts at a small dedicated station in the Centre near the Alameda but is not easy to find.
You can get all the times and prices on :

http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/cercanias/malaga/index.html

Reaching the Maria Zambrano CERCANIAS station platform from the bus station means currently dodging some road works and entering the station at the most convenient entrance. The bus terminal and rail station are very close.

Hope this helps.

Hello Oxy: Hans and I have taken the train from Malaga to Fuengirola. If you can easily get from Nerja to Malaga, it is simple enough to get the train there too as I believe they are in the same main station.

Travel Tips for Málaga

Great Views of the Sea, Horn of Africa, Blue Skies

by cascadas

Malaga is the flocking place for Europeans. So many from so many different countries. But there is not that overly young and confused crowd that you find in Benidorm or Ibiza. What it has are well established grounded individuals who fell in love with the place and decided to stay. Driving down the coast N-340 you see so much of the ocean that you will feel like stopping the car and taking a walk along the beach. Malaga is also close to so many of the great sites such as Marbella, Ronda, Grenada, Sevilla. You cannot miss this opportunity. Go to
http://homepage.hispeed.ch/Fred_Desrosiers/ So many, Great Views, Walking on the beach. I remmembered going to a Restarant in November on the beach and ondering Sangria and Prawns. The amount they gave to me was so much and so good that I went back again. You cannot find this in nothern Eurorpe. Go to the beach in December is also possible.

Please don't confuse Malaga with the other 'British' holiday resorts along the Costa del Sol, Malaga is typically Spanish - you will not find a restaurant in the centre cooking 'Full English Breakfast' and unless you know some Spanish you will need to take a good phrasebook with you and swat up on the plane beforehand - just a few basic phrases will do!!

Bus for the City

by diageva

You can nearly go to everywhere with the bus.
The most urbans busses have a stop at "Alameda Principal" in the center of the city. From there you will have to choose the number of the bus you need.

Line 35. will take you to Gibralfaro
Line 11. to the Bullring

FARES:
ordinary ticket - 0.85 euros
(single, payment on Bus)
multitravel (10 trips) - 5.70 euros
(prepaid on smartcard) ... you have to pay 1.80 for the plastic card for multitravel

POINTS OF SALE for smartcard in any ESTANCO (places where you see tabaco and newspaper are sale)

Not really my favourite...

by A2002

Not really my favourite restaurant. But I went there when I was there and it was ok. VIPS near the Estación de Autobuses. Rice and chicken in special sauce. Taste a little bit like chinese 'gong bao chicken' without the chillies.
