Ancient and Modern
by Geoff_Wright
Something of a minor traffic jam occurred at this road junction. I bet this ancient building could tell a tale or two, about changes in Malaga.
Have you noticed where the policeman has parked his motorcycle? It's a common occurrence in Spain for motorists to park their vehicles on pedestrian crossings. And you should experience trying to use one whilst crossing the road, LOL!
Go For a Drive
by RAINBOWWINGS
If you are staying in the City of Malaga then why not hire a car for a couple of days and go off exploring. Within 30 minutes of the city you will find the most amazing countryside, white villages, local ventas (cafes) and fabulous scenery.
The poppies are starting to fade now but coming in behind them are fields and fields of big smiley sunflowers...especially around the town of Antequera.
Malaga's answer to 'John Lewis'
by Senoritasmile about Corte Ingles
If you want to meander around a modern, air-conditioned ;-) department store and see some beautiful spanish-made clothes, accessories, bed linen, pictures, kitcheware etc........then Corte Ingles provides plenty of stock to peruse. The Malaga branch is split into two buildings that are easily accessed via an internal walkway, the secondary store being dedicated more to Homeware.
Top floor has a selection of eateries; tapas bar, cafeteria and self-service unlimited buffet for 17.75 euros a head.
Bus Transport
by paulapes
The bus transportation in the Costa del Sol area at least, is very good and easily accessible...it's easy to find your way around in the terminal, so don't worry, you can do it! We took the bus from Malaga to Marbella, stopping in many towns along the way to let off passengers, finally arriving in Marbella.
As I've said before, it's interesting to talk to the local people. I spoke with my seat-mate (Kathy had to sit elsewhere because the bus was pretty full). He was a very nice man who pointed out places of interest along the way to me and told me a bit about his life there in Marbella. (See my Off the Beaten Path tip for a little more about this man) That was much better than just sitting there silent, wondering where we were at any given point! :o)
Tapas and wine
by PrincessMonja about d'gustar
This restaurant is like many other tapas bars, but it does have a few slightly more unusual items on the menu. Stews with partridge, chickpeas with cod and spinach and morcilla (Spanish blood pudding) with beans.
