You can take the train from Malaga Centro Alameda. The journey time is approx 30 minutes and you can take a ticket IDA Y VUELTA (return) for €1.95 to Torremolinos.
The Centro station was recently reopened after being closed for modernising for over 2 years. The precise location is unknown but you should find it easily - its very central . Near the CORREOS - central post office and El Corte Ingles department store.
In fact if you put this address into Google Maps it is very close :
Puente de Tetuán, Málaga, España

By the way, the train times can be found on :

By the way, the PORTILLO bus company has many services in this area and you can take a bus from MUELLE HEREDIA bus terminus which is nearby the port
This bus station has been remodelled and again has only recently been reopened so you could try a bus to Torremolinos.
Put in Google Maps the road it is in :
Plaza de la Marina, Málaga, España

And this is the May timetable for Portillo services from this central bus station. They have a ticket office in the bus station.

Travel Tips for Málaga

Old Centre Streets

by blint

A lot of Malaga is ugly blocks of urban sprawl flats, but in the old centre you can find a beautiful heart. Full of narrow sometimes cobbled pedestrian streets winding in and out of each other. You can see that, like a lot of Andalucia, a lot of money is being put in to 'doing up' the centre of the city. Buildings are freshly painted and restored making it a really nice place to walk around.

Flick through the photos I have attached to see what I mean. If only Malaga were all like the photos. Instead much of it is truly ugly.

Feria de dia, or day festival

by Carmela71

You should go to any of them in Malaga, Marbella or Estepona, they are great, and of course to drink ask for CARTOJAL the best sweet wine you will ever try in the hot summer umm.

All the costa del Sol has something brilliant!

In marbella is around the 10th of June and in Malaga around the second and third week of august.

In Estepona is around the 10th of July.

I hope you like it.

Why not take a tour around the City on the MalagaTour bus? the round-trip takes about half an hour and includes 12 bus stops, where you can hop off, look around, and hop back on the next bus, with no additional charge. Your ticket is valid for a full 24 hours! the route includes: Casa Picasso, Alcazaba (Roman Theatre) and the Cathedral.

You can purchase tickets on the bus, and the route begins and ends at the Estacion de autobuses (Bus Station) (see previous tip).

The picture here is of the picu-up point adjacent to the train station and the Post Office. Not sure of the cost, but I think it would be well worth the price, if you just wanted a quick tour around the city.

Bar lo Gueno

by barryg23

Tapas bars are everywhere in Malaga but it can be difficult to find a quality, good value bar as many establishments are aimed solely at tourists. Bar Lo Gueno is certainly popular with tourists, given its great location in the centre of the city, just off a busy pedestrianised street, but it also offers delicious, good value tapas.

The bar has a large outdoor seating area, while on the menu is a great selection of tapas, raciones and half raciones, with an especially good selection of seafood tapas. Ruth and I shared 3 tapas in Lo Gueno - I think we had meatballs, pork and fried aubergines. All accompanied by a nice local red wine. Delicious!
