Art Deco loveliness

I've stayed at the Room Mate Lola a few times. The rooms are clean and comfortable and I have slept very well in them. The bathrooms are a good size and the shower actually has good water pressure - yay!

Unique Quality: Funky decor, nice staff and convenient for the city centre and the train station.

More about Room Mate Lola

What a room!

by TripAdvisor Member louisegreen

We stayed at Room Mate Lola for one night before a flight back home from Malaga Airport - and we left having wished that we had more time to spend in Malaga just to enjoy more of the hotel!
The room was beautifully decorated and a great size for a suite.
We were also given a great recommendation by the hotel for a lovely restaurant and we had a fantastic time.
I would definitely stay in a room mate hotel again!

nice room...modernity and charm

by TripAdvisor Member Oceanne

The guy at the reception was very helpful. The girls, just ok.
The room was very nice, hell, with charm mostly bec. of the windows on the street - not noisy.

The green marble in the bathroom !!!

A good breakfast.

Major sewer/plumbing problem!! Avoid

by TripAdvisor Member jolz

The rooms truely have a bad odour which originates from the bathroom. As the bathrooms do not have any ventilation, the smell just engulfs the whole room. We spent our 1 night there either with the room door opened or the window to the street wide opened. Reading from previous reviews, seems like we were not alone in finding such problem. Is it even legal under Spanish health regulations to let out the rooms? If you don't mind the string smell of sewer, there is really no fault to the hotel.

Exactly what it said it was!

My brother and I needed a hotel room for the night as we had to catch the train to Barcelona at about 7am. We chose the Lola from the Trip Advisor reviews and have to say it was exactly as expected. Good, modern/quirky, comfortable, not 5 star but then again that wasn't what we were paying for. Nice people - managed not to laugh at my Spanglish. Well located for an easy pre-dinner walk, tapas and dinner in the old town and close to the station albeit still a taxi ride. My brother was particularly taken with the Chill Out room and I thought the apples on the pillows were an excellent touch (and a welcome breakfast on the train).

Cool Lola

by TripAdvisor Member Bewlay

Very new, very nice.

Little things, no box of tissues in my room, no wireless internet to the rooms, no spare blanket for when the air-con was off at night.

Very clean, great decor, nice people. Lovely late breakfast.

Not so good

by TripAdvisor Member AntoineAmelie

Hello,

We booked directly on the Web site of the hotel (110 euros/room including a very little breakfast).

The taxi from the airport to the hotel is 17 euros minimum at night (it is written on the outdoor of the taxi).

In the street, there are 2 sex shops and some girls at night. But it is not dangerous.

The rooms are comfortable but noisy because you ear everything happening behind the door. The white, black, yellow, green decoration is fine.

The bathrooms has problems with the water: very cold, very hot, very cold, very hot....not pleasant at all. It is really a problem.

The breakfast is sad. It is a hotel's 1 STAR breakfast (not ****).
Coffee is fine expresso. Orange juice is fine. You help yourself and find bread, toast, croissant (not looking so fine), butter, jam, cheese, ham and cold potatoe omelette.

There is no restaurant in the hotel. It does not seem there is a bar open because if you sit in the bar, no one comes. There is no room service after 11:30 PM! The staff can't help you if you want to dine at 11:30 PM. I will post some photos later.

I would have preferred to be at the Room Mate Larios in a pedestrian street with many shops (Calzedonia, Massimo Dutti...) The fine restaurant GORKI, opened after midnight, was close to the Larios.

Good designer Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member stevenorthants

Small hotel with a big emphasis on design. Location not the best with lots of sex shops nearby giving a slightly shabby feel but close to the old town with its tourist attractions, shopping and plenty of places to eat. We were upgraded free of charge to a suite and it was more than comfortable.

Staff were all friendly and most spoke pretty good English.

My wife is now perusing the RoomMate website for other cities! Would have little hesitation in recommending but be aware that small size means few facilities - no gym, pool or hotel resteraunt. We also saw no children staying and I probably wouldn't recommend to families.

very nice!

by TripAdvisor Member meggie_ri

Great hotel just south of the "center" of Malaga. The parking under the hotel was a big plus. Sounds from the street did reverberate/get louder on the weekends... but this is probably a universal problem for cities! The folks at the desk were extremely helpful; the neighborhood is great; adored the breakfasts; and the wifi worked great. Bottom line: fantastic hotel for the price, but beware the noise on weekend nights.
