Hello!

From Malaga to Tarifa it's roughly 99 miles/160km, taking you about 2 hours in travel time. Renting a car is probably best. Otherwise, take the bus, which should cost you about 10€. This site should help: http://www.gotarifa.com/en/arrival/bus_schedule.html

The largest bus operator in CADIZ PROVINCE is called COMES.
They do have a Malaga to Cadiz via Algeciras and Tarifa service. You get it at Malaga bus terminal next to the railway station called Maria Zambrano.
Times currently appear on this:
http://www.tgcomes.es/horarios_3_english.htm

Or you may find some help on PORTILLO bus company web site who are also big in the Costa del Sol and Malaga.
http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/

One proven route is to head for ALGECIRAS bus station called SAN BERNADO and then take the local ALGECIRAS to TARIFA service :
http://www.ctmcg.com/ see the Lineas y Horarios

Cost must be about €25 I guess total.

Another route if you arrive at the airport is to take the PORTILLO direct bus to MARBELLA bus station then take the next suitable one to ALGECIRAS etc.

And how much will be the taxi from airport to estación de autobuses ?
I found via internet that the first city bus (no19) from airport departs at 7.00 am so I will be late for my first bus to Tarifa....

Taxi airport to Malaga bus station about €22 more or less.
There is now a direct airport bus taking less time as well as 19 bus. However first departure is 7am into city. Times of both buses are on : http://www.emtmalaga.es

Travel Tips for Málaga

Sunshine, parks and flamenco in the air

by Malecka

Ok, what I like the best about Málaga is the fact that the typical tourist are not in the city. The places like Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Benalmádena, etc “harbour” tourists who come for two-week vacations spent at the beach or in the nice discoteques. Well, Málaga is a city with its own population (between 500 and 600,000 if I remember correctly), that has its own life, its own way of living, its own pulse – that I fell in love with.
In the very center of the city, there’s the Paseo del Parque, amazing park that offers a wonderful walk towards the city beaches. On your way, to your left you can see the building of the Ayuntamiento, followed by the Jardines de Puerta oscura y Pedro Luis Alonso. When reaching the end of it, you come to Plaza del General Torrijos.

A person from Malaga

by blint

Someone from Malaga is usually called a Malagueño, although affectionately they have another name which is Boqueron.

A Boqueron is a type of small fish, Anchovies are normally made out of them. I have no idea why the people of Malaga are called so maybe it has something to do with the fishing tradition and the fact that Boquerones are very abundant in the waters.

Is there a Boqueron out there who can explain why to me?

It is not an insult and Malagueños will call themselves a boqueron freely.

When you're in another country, please make an attempt to talk to the local folks. It usually makes your trip much more interesting and you will probably learn more about the country and the people.

When we left Malaga to go to our hotel in Marbella, I sat next to a man on the bus. It turned out that he lives in Marbella, but comes originally from Argentina...his parents were from Germany (I wondered aloud to Cathy later if his name was Mengeles, Jr.!) :o) Anyway, he was really nice and pointed out places of interest as we were passing through each town on our way to Marbella.

Getting to Benalmadena or to Malaga: Easiest way is by plane.
If you are not afraid of driving there and you have money - getting around with a car is a great way to explore places. Renting a SMART is my dream, I'm just not the kind of person who would survive with the Spanish drivers...

Southern Spain Fast Food

by ape_huva about Las Papas

It's more like a burger but with some Spanish dishes like Potatoes and "Camperos". The location of the restaurant is superb, just steps from Museo Picasso and 2 minutes from the Cathedral and Plaza de la Merced. If you have no time to sit in a good restaurant and spend 2 hours 3 dishes meal, just take away something here, or if you are lucky sit in some outside places they have in the middle of the street. Definitely try Potatoes full of everything or the typical sandwich of Malaga's burgers: Campero.
