Car hire

by daarth

We will be without car for the last half of our stay, and are looking into hiring a car. It seems however that all good deals are pick-up and leave at Malaga airport. Is there any way to get a good deal picking up the car in Marbella and then leaving it at Malaga airport? Or even better, picking it up at Nueva Andalucia or Puerto Banus?

Re: Car hire

by daarth

I can get a 10% discount with Hertz, and there I see I can pick up the car in Marbella and leave it at Malaga airport. For a Opel Astra they then want 165 Euro. Our daughter is fully grown and wouldn't be comfortable in anything smaller. Perhaps I cannot expect anything cheaper?

carjet.com is a broker so you'll get the "best" prices from several companies. Another I used sometimes is hispacar.com
you may check both sites for your dates and see what results they give

Hi
We were in that area and wanted a car for the last part of our trip. We went online and got a last minute bargain through carjet ( as mentioned a broker) - we also saved by taking the train to the airport on the day we picked it up and collecting the car from there - it doesn't take long and was a good saving. It depends really if you want price or convenience. We were there for a long trip so opted for price!
Have a good trip.
Sheila

CHURCH OF THE ENCARNACION

by LoriPori

Located in the center of the Old Town and the heart of the community is the CHURCH OF THE ENCARNACION or Iglesia de la Encarnacion.
The most beautiful church in Marbella, Construction was began in 1618 and built in the Baroque style. Thestructure is a Basilica type with three naves.
The portal is stone and is Rococo style. It also boasts a beautiful Belltower.
Unfortunately the building was ravaged by fire and many precious artifacts were damaged or destroyed. As much as possible it is restored to its original beauty.

Be patient

by nereid

Don't be impatient in restaurants, bars, and other places. Don't get mad if your bus is late. Learn to go with the flow. If service is slower than you're used too, then relax and have another glass of wine. You're on vacation, so don't be in such a rush.

Opera in Marbella

by Carmela71

Every Friday and Saturday Opera at Da Brunno Restaurant in Edificio Skol, on the Paseo Maritimo from 21.00 pm.

Various opera singers dressed as waiters and waitresses join the official serving team to add the best of opera to the best of Italian food.

Sleme Opera Star is responsible for bringing this highly successful Madrid show to Marbella.

Not my favorite Italian Restuarant in Marbella, as the food is nice but prices are expensive ... and service in this one very slow... but always is something difernt...

For a nice italian restuarant check Garibaldi Tratoria close to this one in Camilo Jose Cela street

Mucha Cañas y Mucha Tapas.

by Beach_dog about Cañas y Tapas

I think this Tapas Bar has become my fovourite, I visited on about ten occassions in two weeks. Its a restaurant chain that covers many cities in Spain. Just select items from the menu which is designed like a newspaper, all the food is good. I liked so much of it that its difficult to say which is my favourite item, but the egg with prawns and asparagus was the dish I ate the most.
I recommend the afternoon offer for 7.95 Euros, two main items with a desert and a beer.

BUFFET

by LoriPori about LE DOME BUFFET

Sunday night, May 7, Stace suggested we all try LE DOME BUFFET as a place to have dinner. There was quite a few of us. The Buffet was pretty good. Nice Salad Bar, a good selection of meat and fish dishes, pasta dishes and dessert. The all-you-can-eat Buffet price was 9,80 Euro.
