More about Rincon Andaluz Hotel
The most relaxing place on the Costa Del Sol!
by A TripAdvisor Member
Myself and my partner have just returned from a 5 night break at the Riu. It's a wonderful complex, well removed from all the hectic activity of the local resorts, Puerto Banus and Marbella, and perfect for a short break.
The pool area is wonderful, busy but very relaxing, no loud music to disrupt the peace, in fact all we could hear most of the time was the birds singing in the palm trees dotted around the complex! There is a children's section in the pool so it's entirely possible to have a nice relaxing swim in the main pool any time of day. There is also a fulltime lifeguard on duty which is reassuring.
The rooms are very old fashioned, that is my only real criticism of the hotel. However, they are fully equipped and have AC, and the housekeeping staff do a great job keeping them spotlessly clean, which makes up for the decor. Re the review complaining about the pillows... that really shows how nice the Riu is, if that is a guest's only complaint!
The breakfast buffet is lovely, and the food at the snack bar is good value for a nice lunch... the Sangria is also worth sampling!
We always leave our hotel for dinner and rinks wherever we are, but from what I did see of the Riu entertainment, it seemed pretty poor to me. A lot of older continental Europeans seemed to be enjoying it though, so maybe that's a matter of taste.
The hotel is probably a 10 minute walk from Puerto Banus but the footpath runs alongside a very dangerous motorway, so we taxied in and out. At 5 Euro a trip, it's well worth the convenience and the safety.
Overall, I highly recommend the Riu Rincon Andaluz, we probably won't return to Puerto Banus as it's so expensive in the resort itself, but if we do, we will definitely check back into the Riu.
PS There are lots of nice touches I haven't gone into, like glasses of Champagne on arrival, lemon trees growing in the grounds, you'll have to see for yourself!
Needs a makeover

Just returned from a week at Riu Rincon Hotel, couldnt fault the breakfast and we did eat one night in the restaurant, which again was very good. The hotel position I feel personally is pretty awful, like being situated next to the M25!! take your life in yor hands walking to Puerto Banus!
Overall the hotel was very clean but its obviously quite an old hotel and could do with a bit of a makeover. My personal opinion of The Costa Del Sol is YUK!! what a dirty hole, concrete and brown sea & sand!
Had a 12 hour delay with Thomsons on the return journey, I have to say Thomsons were dreadful and didnt inform us of what was going on at all. Anyway in general a pretty naf holiday!!
Great Hotel

Just returned from a week's stay at the Riu Rincon. Had a wonderful time. Friendly efficient staff, great pool area, excellent breakfast buffet, good snack bar which although had a limited menu the food which was served was of a good standard. The hotel itself although a little dated (the rooms in particular) was spotlessly clean and the rooms were fairly roomy with all the amenities you would expect from 4 star accommodation. The hotel is close to the beach and a 10 minute walk takes you to Puerto Banus. Evening entertainment in the hotel was fairly good with something going on each evening. The only criticism I would have is that if you are only B&B after 3.30pm there is absolutely nowhere in the hotel that you can purchase food so you are always obliged to go out. We tried to book for the evening meal on several occasions but were always told that it was full to capacity (although admittedly it was High Season). All in all we had a great time. I would recommend this hotel to families and couples alike.

The layout of the hotel is intended to feel like a traditional Andalucian village, with the majority of the accommodation in two or three story blocks, connected by shady courtyards and narrow twisting alleyways.
The attractive grounds are filled with lemon and orange trees, bird of paradise flowers and heavily scented jasmine. Large palm trees provide shade around the two swimming pool areas.
On arrival we were upgraded to a suite with a large twin bedroom, a double bedroom and a well appointed, spotlessly clean bathroom. Balcony’s and terraces all have good quality wicker furniture.
A well stocked mini bar and safe (free to use) are provided. Rooms are cleaned every day.
We stayed on a half board basis. There was a massive choice of food at both breakfast and dinner, all of a reasonable quality. We had intended to eat out most nights, but as the food was good and the restaurants of Puerto Banus a 20 minute walk or 6.50 Euro taxi ride away, we chose to eat in most nights. On the occasions that we did walk into town, we found it more present to walk along the beach, which is just a five minute walk from the hotel.
Most mornings we had to wait for a couple of minutes for a table to become free for breakfast. At night you are seated at the same table throughout your stay, choosing either the 6:30 or 8:30 pm sitting on your first night.
The majority of visitors to the hotel are German. Evening entertainment is provided between 10 and 11 pm. While this is fairly international, it certainly has a German bias.
While the main road in front of the hotel is noisy, once inside the complex this is not a problem. We were given the use of one of the rooms which look out onto the road, to have a shower after our late check out. The hotel obviously prefer not to have guests in these. It was double glazed to keep noise out, furnished and decorated to the same standard as our room, and again was immaculately clean.
We would definitely recommend the Riu. It may be a little too far out of the centre, and the walk along the main road is not very present, but this is a good excuse to be lazy and use taxi’s to get into Puerto Banus.
What a great place

My boyfriend and i stayed in this hotel for a two week holiday, what a wonderful hotel, the staff were lovely, very helpful when it came down to all our little needs and wants!!
We only had breakfast in the hotel but this was also nothing to complain about, there was a bit of everything to eat, and the thing we really liked was there was a chef who used to make fresh eggs in the mornings. We also had fresh juice in the mornings. I think though the fresh juice is only do in high season!!
There was pleanty of room as well for us to sit out by the pool, we always found the beach a bit too hot, but if you do like the beach this is only about a 10 min walk away from the hotel.
We did find it easy enough to take the bus which is on the same side of the road as the hotel, and walk into the town centre which is probably about 15 min to do. Just be careful of the busy road by the hotel especially with young children.
Watch Out !!

We stayed in this hotel in april 2006 during the "semana santa".
Our overall impression was positive, the hotel is located in a lovely garde, Minus is the very busy main road just in frontt o fthe hotel.
Rooms are o.k, the buffets are fine, and the staff does everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
HOWEVER..BE AWARE !!!!!
Security of the rooms is very poor.
Do not leave any valuable items outside your safe !!
We experienced that during our last night, when we were at the reception to check out (30 minutes, room locked !!!) ,uninvited guests have visited our room. Digital camera and PDA have disappeared since.
Obviously it is very easy to open even locked oors.
Lovely hotel

We really enjoyed our stay in the Riu Roncon Andaluz. Despite being near a busy road, the hotel is very nicely laid out with two nice pools, lots of greenery and lovely rooms. The hotel is well located with a short stroll to the beach and a slightly longer walk to Puerto Banus. We paid for bed and breakfast but was not dissapointed to have missed out on the dinner option. There are far nicer places to eat nearby. We found the food rather bland and mass produced (both breakfast and dinner was buffet style). However, apart from the food, we defintely recommend the hotel and would not hesitate to go back.
Couldn't ask for more!

Just back from an Easter break at the Riu and have to say couldn't fault it! Where do I start? We had paid to stay in a upgraded garden view room and asked for a double bed. If you get a room with number 700+ you are on to a winner these are by far the best rooms. The bathroom was huge, seperate shower cubicle, full bath, huge marble sink, then dressing area with huge wardrobe into a very large bedroom. The bed was a super super king!! Never seen a bed so huge not even in the states! Very very clean, nice balcony with comfy wicker chairs and view to peaceful courtyard garden. The gardens are very tranquil with birds of paradise, orange and lemon trees. 2 pools are good with loungers, imagine get busy in high season. The restaurant has amazing choice of food. There really isn't anymore food you could ask for, breakfast and dinner were buffets 5 course affairs, even yummy pancakes for breakfast. Don't be put off by the main road it's nicer to walk along the beach into Puerto Banus anyway, we stayed for New Year at the Melia Dynamar at the other end of town another 4 star but this was far better with much nicer staff. Only downside were hard pillows! Worth checking out the flamenco show in the hotel too. bar was resonable for 4star especially compared to Puerto banus bar prices. All in all for £56 a night couldn't of asked for better.

Beach Hotel Recomendation in Marbella Area?
by molly_busch
Hi Everyone!
Any advice on a place to stay on the beach within an hour (or so) taxi drive from the Malaga airport? I've never been to Andalucia, so any advice is appreciated. Marbella looks gorgeous, but spendy.....
My husband and I are planning on 5 days in the area to enjoy the Spanish sun and sand, May 31st - June 4th. We're young and fit and we definetly don't need an expensive, ritzy hotel. However..... near the beach is a MUST!!!
Thanks for any replies!! Molly

Hi Molly,
I stayed at the Sunset Beach Club Hotel in Malaga two years ago and had a fantastic experience there.
Malaga is not at all far from Marbella, and is a lot less pricey, and in my opinion just as nice.
Sunset Beach Club is a huge hotel at the end of the 'promenade' along the main road of Malaga, and is on the beach.
Good luck, and have fun!

Hi,
I stayed in the Riu Rincon Andaluz near Puerto Banus (7 km from Marbella). It is a short 5 minute walk to the the beach. Althought the area is pricey, the hotel was not. It was very nice. Check out the hotel info and pictures on my Marbella page.
