Marbella = hotels

Hello, thanks for everyone's repsonses to my Marbella question. Can you also give me some overview of the distances in Marbella from Marbella to Puerto Banus to Esteponia. Is there a recommendation in which area should I stay? How do I travel between the three, buses, taxi, rent a car? What is the travel timing like? Is there a better beach at any of these. Do all three have a small town around them such as if I want to come out of the hotel and walk around, shop, or even sight see (if there is anything historical) where is my best bet to stay. Also, can someone let me know if Gvadalpin resort in Puerto Banus is good, or if its better in Marbella (there is one there as well). Also, if I would consider staying in Don Carlos in Marbella - is that a good hotel. Thanks again to all with the invaluable advise.

Marbella to Banus is about 10 km'sand from Banus to Estepona about 20 km's. There are buses

Another great thing about the Parque de la Alameda is that it is so user friendly. Many locals and tourists alike were enjoying the early evening air in a wonderful park setting. The walkways are marble and weave in and out ot the tropical trees and foliage. And when you just want to sit and relax, there are these wonderful tiled park benches that Hans and I are putting to good use.

Puerto Banus has many Restaurants, Bars and Nightclubs. They tend to be fairly expensive, due to the exclusiveness of the area.
But with many yachts and villas in the area, belonging to the rich and famous, who knows who you could be rubbing shoulders with. Smart for most establishments.

Thursday night a rather large group of VTers gathered for an unofficial VT meeting at a Chinese restaurant near the square. They graciously accomodated our large party immediately and kindly allowed us to all pay for our orders separately, something I've never ever seen a restaurant do for a party that size. I ordered the menu of the day, started off with a spring roll, followed by sweet and sour pork, finished with some ice cream. The food wasn't extraordinary but it was fine and very reasonably priced, I think my meal including a drink was less than 10E.
