Parador de Mojacar: A pleasant stay in a Parador
A modern Parador at the Costa Calida situated on the beach of Mojacar.This accomodation is beautifully built and has big rooms, very clean and neat. Has seventy eight twin bedded rooms, eleven rooms with a double bed and nine single rooms. Our room had a terrace facing to its garden and to the sea viewing over the Mediterranean. The upstairs dining room has extensive sea views. The cuisine of the Almeria region is the specialty of the restaurant. Fish and rice cooked in many different ways feature strongly on the menu. I love their wide vareity breakfast buffet though i never eat a lot.
This Parador is named after the Kings of Spain who spent hundreds of years fighting the Moor invaders. This war was helped by the church to bring back the country under Christian rule after many years of Muslim control. In these modern troubled times, it is worthy to note that, during the many centuries of occupation by the Moors, all the Muslims, Jews and Christians lived together in harmony bringing great wealth to the area.
Our stay was short but it was wonderful.

Parador de Mojacar: Parador!
The Parador de Mojacar Almeria Hotel is located on the beaches of Mojacar.
The hotel is quite modern and not quite the "old castle" that you may expect of a parador. However, the rooms are quite spacious and comfortable as you'd expect for a place charging as much as it does for a room.
Unique Quality: Local cuisine in the restaurant includes a lot of local fish.

Canade de Auguila: Room with a View
This was a private apartment which i found on the internet. It was a one bedroom property, a bathroom ensuite, small kitchen and lounge.
The balcony was large and had sun loungers, table and chairs. It had a great view.
The area was mostly residential but it was quiet, and within walking distance to a few restaurants.
Unique Quality: It had a small communal pool, but we never used it.
Had satellite TV, english channels included.
