Barco de Chanquete
this ship was called La Dorada
This boat ( Chanquete's fishing boat), has been a symbol of Nerja's tourist boom.
The TV serie of "Verano azul" is in the memory of all of us.
Today it stands in the Parque Verano Azul

Does anyone out there have a review of this villa. It is situated in the hills on the road to Frigiliana. I'm booked to go later this year and I'd love to hear any good or bad points and useful info. Thanks
This villa realistically is in Frigiliana.
If you like to be away from both Nerja and Freigiliana then this is the place for you. You will need a car, for shopping, nearest shop is Frigiliana although there is a regular bus service between both towns, all I would say is isolated.

North-west of Nerja lies the town Velez-Malaga. North of there is a very green area with lovely typical Spanish villages around it. In spring the green fields are filled with yellow flowers.
All this green is caused by a storage lake. A lovely place to drive through and have a picknick.
International Tapas Bar.
A nice bar that was underused because of its location away from other bars is The Chanquete. Larger than the average bar, it had a pool table and was cool and comfortable.
Great tapas were available here and local Spanish workers used to have breakfast (Desayunos) here.
I shall miss the last proprieters, Glyn and Trudy, who have returned to the UK.
Beers were Amstel and San Miguel.

* NOTE: Bar perminantly CLOSED. From my Nerja sources. This bar is probably NOT going to re open as the whole block has been sold and the new owner does not want a bar as part of his purchase. A shame but there you go!
Sorely missed Casual.
We ate in this stylish and spotlessly clean restaurant and it was most enjoyable. The food was good, beautifully and creatively presented. Their gazpacho (a cold, Spanish soup which is very refreshing), was particularly wonderful .
We noticed the tapas looked particularly good and returned the following day, for lunch in the bar and we weren't dissappointed. When we return to Nerja, Casa Luque will definitely be a regular lunch spot, although evening dining is a little more expensive.
Put this on your Nerja restaurant list for a spceial meal out, in your nicer clothes.
In warm weather there is a lovely garden overlooking the sea.
If you are staying in Nerja and are missing logging onto VT, then take yourself down to Cafe MedWeb.
Here for very reasonable rates you can log on and catch up with you E mails, search for cheap flights or log on to VT. You can print things in Black or in Colour. Windows XP and a Broadband connection ensures an excellent service.
Drinks both alcoholic or none are available. For those who do, you can smoke. They also do hot and cold snacks and they speak English. Also the place is not clinical as in a library, you may take a friens to show off your site or just for company and talking is not discouraged.
