Special Restaurant
by jaygee about Restaurante 34
The Restaurant is part of the Hotel Carabeo and is about two minutes walk from theBalcon de Europa. I would describe the food as International.
The starters and desserts are excellent, the main courses less so but still good. There is a good wine list and cocktail menu.
The staff are first class, extremely pleasant and attentive, and the surroundings great, you can choose tables from inside, on the terrace or in the garden (bookings essential). It is expensive by local standards, probably most expensive in Nerja. Our meal for two, in 2005, with three courses, a good bottle of wine, one beer, two mineral waters, two coffees and a cocktail was approx. 88 Euros.
Sometimes there is guitarist playing Flamenco music and there is also a bettter class of strolling buskers who drop in.
It is a good choice for a special meal.
Closed on Mondays. Any dessert
Reasonably Priced Apartment Close to Beach
by amapola66 about JP Rentals - Acapulco Apartment
The Acapulco apartment is a private block of 30 apartments, 50 odd yards from Carabeo/Burriana beaches. Most of the aparments are south facing have panoramic views. It is situated close to the parador and is a gated, pleasantly quiet block situated in nice gardens with a pool.
We rented this traditionally decorated apartment in the end of May 2002.
The swimming pool (amd small kids paddling pool) wasn't open (opens June & we were offered a discount to compensate), but it was a clean and situated in pleasant gardens, very close to the beach (quite a climb down in the heat for those who have trouble walking).
The apartment was extremely well priced, weather perfect at that time of year and a short stroll into town down interesting little streets full of interesting shops, restaurants & bars.
Recommended for a reasonably priced small family apartment.
(Car not essential) Reasonably priced.
Close to Burriana Beach.
Clean but nothin glam...
Quiet and secure.
There were 4 of us, and we paid around £20 per head for a week .
So a very reasonable £80 - £100 in total for two bedroom apartment, out of season.
(Not air conditioned, but ceiling fans).
Beach by Acapulco Apartments
by amapola66
Well, this beach (I am pretty sure this is called 'Carabeo Beach' ) is just a climb down from the Acapulco Apartments. and never crowded in late May.
There is a friendly little bar half way up/down for refreshment and further along, the beach restaurants of Burriana beach.
Lovely!
The climb back up (steps) is a little hard for in the heat if you are not a good walker. Never had to hurry.
Lazy days, good food and late nights.
Live at the Harp. (Calle Carabeo)
by Pauldelabar about The Irish Harp bar
Irish Bar.
A 3-4 piece band plays twice weekly in an up tempo country theme. Usually on a Monday and Thursday night. The quality is good and is well worth a visit. It does get packed so get there early if you want a table.
Also, I've never before seen so many clocks on the wall in a bar.
This bar is very close to the Indian restaurant 'A taste of India', so you could combine a meal with a visit here both being on the same street, Calle Carabeo.
Draught Guinness again is on tap at the. Irish Harp
Good live music on Mondays and Thursdays.
Price range:
Good value for money and the music is free.
Atmosphere:
Very cosy.
Theme:
A comfortable Irish theme with great decor items.
Opening times:
From 7:00 pm until late.
Disabled notes:
There are some steps up to the bar from the street to be aware of for the mobility impaired. Casual
Beaches and cliff strolls
by ayesh
Nerja has many beaches. Some with sand, some with pebbles, small ones, bigger ones. Beaches with beds or with comfortable rocks...
There are many because the coast of Nerja is formed by cliffs. A mysterious little path runs at the bottom of these (from town center to Burriana beach) and will lead you past a few of the stretches of sand that have formed between the stone walls. They are very cosy and offer some privacy in the off-season. (Also check out the dozens of stray cats that lie purring in the shades.)
The bigger beach and my stationary sun-bathing spot was Playa Burriana. Many shops and restaurants and also a scuba diving school have gathered here for your convenience.
Some beach names: Burriana, El Salon, Calahonda, El Chucho, El Chorillo, La Torrecilla, Carabeo, El Playazo, La Caletilla, Carabeillo.

Hi, I've just returned from Nerja. I don't know what part of town you're staying in, but I found 3 tobacconists. Just near the Balcon de Europe there is one just past the tourist office on the corner where Alte. Ferrandiz and Pintada meet. This is one minute from the Balcon.
There is another at Avenida Castilla Perez, which is on the right hand side just past Big Al's(Big Al's serve the best ever english breakfast). This is the road that leads down to Torcilla Beach.
THere is another on Prol. R. Acosta, which leads down to the Carabeo beach near the Parador Hotel.
THey all close between 2 and 5pm. Hope this helps.

My favourite indian restaurants in Nerja are the Havelli on Calle Pintada or A Taste of India on Calle Carabeo in that order. In good weather you can eat outside at both these places. As you pass the Havelli, you may think the place is empty but walk on through to the large terrace at the rear and that is where the customers are and the car park is only at the rear (Ferria ground) so is quite handy. Or if on foot, Durty Nellys is just up the road and left for a drink afterwards.

Yes. I quite agree with Susie. Thelma's is very good. You will find it at an area called 'El Zoco', out of Nerja towards Almeria about 2km.

Have to agree with the last two replies. The best Indian in Nerja has to be Thelmas up behind the Supersol supermarket on El Zocco. All the food is freshly cooked in front of you, but beware Thelma only has a limited number of tables and it would perhaps be advisable to pop in to pre-book a table. We have neve been disappointed with a meal. Thelma is from the Goan region of India so not only just she offer the usual Indian fayre but also dishes from her native land. Try you will not be disappointed, if you do visit say Hi from Karen and Chris and tell them we will be out in December.
Apartment nr Carabeillo Beach
by leesville
Am boggle eyed from looking at apartments on the web. Looking for recommendations for near as poss frontline 2 bed rental near Carabeillo beach. Pals staying in the Edificio Burriana so ideally somewhere near there with communal pool, sea views if poss and quick walk to beach. 2 adults & 2 kids.I am not familiar with Nerja but my pals have advised stick to this area rather than go west or further towards Burriana. Have been very impressed with service from local agents but blinded by choice now. Any recommendations from you guys for particular properties or any advice on Verde Mar, Bajamar II, Alamar 1 or Edificio Burriana itself. What are the Rocamar Apartments like? Thanks.

Re: Apartment nr Carabeillo Beach

There are 20 Rocamar apartments, mostly only one bedroom sleeping 2 people. There are a couple of two bed apartments, and one that has 3 beds. Location couldn't be better. Quiet end of the prestigious & historic Calle Carabeo, Rocamar is between the village centre and Burriana Beach. Both are only a 5 to 10 minute walk. All apartments are privately owned, and not all are rented out. Nice big pool in a private garden, with views over Burriana Bay. Apartments are spacious and some have been fitted out to a high standard and very well equiped.
