Christmas in Nerja

My boyfriend and I are planning on spending christmas in Nerja. Its our first trip to the area so I've lots of questions. Is christmas dinner traditional in Nerja? Can anyone recommend somewhere to have a nice xmas lunch? are shops etc likely to be closed for the day? not worried about shopping per say, but would need to be prepared if everything closes. We may be staying in the CASA EL DUENDE at the Natural Park, in the outskirts of Nerja. has anyone heard of this appartment, and if so, what's it like. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Ranger, I'm not hung up on the traditional turkey thing, but I would like to celebrate whatever way is traditional in the area, so will probably look for somewhere nice to eat on Christmas eve. Thanks for your help

International Bar.
A warm welcome awaits you if you drop in to the Blue Lagoon. Try the breakfast - served until 6pm. for just €4. Other snacks are available too.

In good weather you can sit outside at the pavement tables. (Too hot for me in summer). Or chat at the bar.

Although Guinness is served here it is in cans but only €3 a can and you can guarantee it's in good condition. Also San Miguel on draught and all the usual spirits.

Sky TV helps keep you up with the news etc. back mome.

For a limited time, bottles of San Miguel are on offer at just €1 where they normally retail at anything between €1.30 to €3.00, depending upon the bar and its location in Nerja.

Price range:
Good value for money.
Atmosphere:
Good conversation and cosy.
Theme:
Predominantly blue decor.
Opening times:
From 11am until around 8pm and closed Mondays at present.
Disabled notes:
Warning ! Steep set of four steps up to the bar - not wheelchair friendly. As poor Clare, the bar owner at the time, found out when she broke her ankle at home at Christmas time.

This bar has recently CHANGED OWNERSHIP August 2005. Casual but shirts must be worn inside.

The Caribbean Cafe is a rather out of the way bar that has various parrots in the corner of the bar.

The parrots vary in temperament from 'extremely friendly and like to be stroked' to 'rip your finger off'. Ask the staff which are friendly. WATCH THE GREEN ONE - VICIOUS!

Sunday lunches are available on - Sunday when else? Book in advance.

Price range:
Good value for money.
Atmosphere:
Great. Talk to the parrots.
Theme:
A caribbean theme throughout with bamboo.
Opening times
From 4pm and all day on Sundays. Closed on Mondays.
Disabled notes:
Level access. Casual.

Pinocchio for Italian Pizza

A lovely restaurant with rustic settings where you can eat inside or outside on the large terrace at the rear.
A wide menu is available for you to choose from and eat indoors or under the stars in warm weather.

Fully licensed Pizza Americano and many others.

Nerjas coastline consists of a straight length of beach and then goes into small coves, parts of it are rocky, but I spent hours sitting on these rocks, waves crashing up, mountains in the distance, sun on my back - wow!!
