Free magazines are useful
by Pauldelabar
I cannot extol enough the absolute necessity of picking up a FREE copy of either "Nerja Essential" or "The Market Place" if you are new to Nerja. These can be found in most bars and outside Estate agents.
Inside you will find :-
A town street map.
Fiestas etc.
A bars list with reference to the map (grid).
Restaurant list.
Coach timetable.
Useful telephone numbers.
Articles which will give you a flavour of the area.
And much, much more.
Nerja Essential has a website where you can keep up with the news of the area and even see articles from their archives. Link below.

One of my favorites villagues in the coast, the white houses and the colourful doors, the cleaness, amkes it so special.
Another reason to go is one of my fvaovrites restaurants; La Bodeguilla
It is in the Sierra de Almijara, 6 km from Nerja.
Memories of Frank Sinatra. (Calle Los Huertos)
by Pauldelabar about Sinatra's Bar
Spanish Theme Bar.
If you like the music of Frank Sinatra, you will like this bar. If you don't you'll hate it!
Sinatras only plays Sinatra music and is low lighted and billed as a 'romantic rendezvou'. Candles on the tables help to set the scene. This is a nice place to visit either before or after going out for a romantic meal for two.
Price range:
Good value for money.
Atmosphere:
Take your own company in with you to this underused bar.
Theme:
Frank Sinatra pictures abound and the music also.
Opening times:
From around 7pm until late.
Disabled notes:
Steps inside this bar preclude it from wheelchairs and narrow pavements outside. Smart casual. A place for couples.
More good Indian food at the Havelli
by Pauldelabar about Havelli
Indian Restaurant
Here is another excellent restaurant serving Indian quisine. When you first look into the place you may be forgiven for thinking that the place is empty, and I always recommend "do not eat in a resaurant with no people in it", however if you enter and walk through you will find how big the place actually is. Everyone, in warm weather, is outside at the rear dining underneath the stars by cadle light. A truly romantic and unforgetable experience.
Fully licensed. On my last visit I ate meat Biriani, but have eaten many dishes here which are all good.
Disabled notes:
One step up then all level inside.
Playa Burriana, Nerja
by smilenerja
From The Front Cover of Smile Nerja:) Issue 4
Playa Burriana, is arguably the best beach in Nerja. It certainly boasts the best facilities: shops, bars, restaurants, sunbed & umbrella hire, outdoor activities and pedaloes! What more could you want? History? Why not watch the fishermen going about their business using traditional boats and equipment.
The beach itself a mix of small stones and sand which makes for great sand castles ;) but does make digging the inevitable giant hole to bury your dad in, a bit tricky. (Kids, here’s a tip... get dad to dig it himself).
During the summer months a life guard will keep you all safe in the water, and year round the parking vigilados in their orange jackets will keep your car safe... as long as you cough up the 80cents. The parking fee is optional but bear in mind it goes towards building a new nightclub for the elderly to swing their sticks at. No really it’s a care home for the elderly so it’s for a good cause.
So there you have it. Playa Burriana, something for everyone, go enjoy it!
