Fuengirola to Ronda

by Stevo68

Is there a direct bus from Fuengirola to Ronda?
Or do the buses leave directly from Marbella and malaga?

In addition how long would it take?

Thanks

I don't think there is, when I was staying in Marbella I took local buses to both Fuengirola and Ronda, so I would guess that starting in Fuengirola you will have to change at Marbella bus station. See http://www.andalucia.com/travel/bus/marbella.htm
I'm afraid I don't remember timings but I would guess at 1 hour between Fuengirola and Marbella (though costing less than 2 EUR!) and a bit more than that between there and Ronda.
¡Buen viaje!

Yes you can get a bus from Fuengirola to Ronda. best to check up locally for up to date times, but at least 2 bus companies do this route. You can find time tables also on
http://www.ctsa-portillo.com/horarios.html (for PORTILLO bus company)
http://www.touristbus.es (for AMARILLOS bus company)

takes about 2 hours and costs about 7 Es.

Travel Tips for Ronda

Flamenco in Ronda

by barryg23

We were lucky enough to see Flamenco when we visited Ronda.

This was the semi-final of some local competition, which we had read about in the events guide we saw in the local English newspaper, and it was held in a bar over in Artesanos, in the western part to the Mercadillo district. Entry was free, the drinks were cheap and I'm pretty sure we were the only non locals present.

We arrived 30 minutes after we had started and as the entrance was beside the stage it was a little bit intimidating walking in mid song in front of a large crowd of locals. We made our way to the bar and ordered our beers.

I didn't know much about Flamenco before but I did have an image of dancing as well as singing. What we got was a guy sitting in a chair singing, accompanied by a guitarist. His voice was excellent though we didn't really understand what he was singing about - our Spanish is still very basic.

Tourism office

by Dabs

The first stop in Ronda should be the tourism office, I found one right on Plaza de Espana, the main square near the Puente Nuevo. They provided me with a very good map of Ronda that was extremely easy to follow with all of the highlights of the old town marked. I just noticed that it was in French and German, I guess since I had my Lonely Planet guidebook with me that I didn't need the commentary :-)

Merced's Convent

by Martin_S.

Built in 1585 this convent contains some religious relics, like the HAND of St.Theresa of Jesus from the 17th century that according to church legend does not rot...... Sorry that we did not have time to visit and see that. From the exterior it is a very simple building when compared with the ornate decorations usually found on religious buildings, but it is very striking in its simplicity and actually pleasant to look at. http://www.turismoderonda.es/catalogo/eng/merced.htm

Church of Padre Jesus

by sandysmith

As we meandered across the old bridge the Church of Padre Jesus can be seen. This was a lively place on the Sunday we visited as first communions were taking place and it was like a party atmosphere with all the families out celebrating. Very close to the church is located the famous Fuente de los Ocho Caños (Eight Spouts Fountain). -see last pic.

Historic Signs in several languages

by dlytle

One of the charming aspects of Ronda were all the informational historic signs that provided information, in several languages, for the tourist visiting that site. I discovered these signs at a number of the monuments and historic places that I visited in Ronda and found them very helpful to understand the context of what I was viewing and visiting.
