Busses from Ronda to Gaucin?

by okifloki

Travelling to Gaucin in June on public transport, coming from Granada.
How easy is it to get from Ronda to the village Gaucin? Are there frequent busses between these places? Where can I find a timetable?

RE: Busses from Ronda to Gaucin?

I think that the big bus company in Cadiz province : TRANSPORTES GENERALES COMES have a service that runs from Ronda down to Algeciras. According to the timetable at www.tgcomes.es it leaves Ronda at 4pm and arrives at Gaucin at 5.20pm costing Euros 2.77

There may well be other services locally.

If you go by train, the station for Gaucin is quite a long way away at a little village called El Colmenar in the Guadiaro valley. I am sure you could find somebody to run you to Gaucin but it may cost more than 2.77 !

Travel Tips for Ronda

See Ronda in spring to experience the wildflowers!

by dlytle

I was visiting Ronda in the spring, April, and I was delighted by all of the yellow wildflowers that were blooming in the Sierra del Ronda. They grew alongside the road. They grew in patches up the hillsides. They even grew in bands along certain sections of the terraced terrain. I am sure there were other colors but the yellow wildflowers really caught my eye.

Being in this storied land in the spring, well it is almost breathtaking when the whole area is covered in a myriad of yellow wildflowers with a backdrop of green grass, grey boulders and tall, naked spires.

Convent de le Merced

by bugalugs

The convent situated in a square with the same name is run by Carmelite nuns. It was established in the 16th century and the nuns belong to the Mercedarian order. It is a cloistered order and they are devoted to prayer, penance and abstinance.
Visitors are welcome but please respect the nuns privacy.

COLEGIATA DE SANTA MARIA LA MAYOR

by LoriPori

By the time we got to COLEGIATA DE SANTA MARIA LA MAYOR it was 4 p.m. and starting to rain, so we didn't have much time to explore or take pictures of this lovely building. It was built on the site of what was once Ronda's main mosque. The Minaret was kept and used as the Belltower. There is a balcony area where nobility could enjoy sporting events going on in the square. Located on the north side of Plaza Duquesa de Parcant, just as you come into town.

Gardens of Ronda

by sandysmith

Around the area of the old bridge and the church of Padre Jesus are several lovely example os typical gardens of Rona. Being springtime they were ablaze with colour and a delight to see - its quite OK to go in and have a look, you are often invited to by the friendly locals who are proud of their blossoms.

Spanish Open Doors

by Geoff_Wright

It seems to be a Spanish custom to open your doors in order that passers-by can peep in and see just how you live. We found this beautiful Spanish lounge whilst walking through the Calle Tenorio. The view was enchanting. On the opposite side of the Calle is a Convent, where for a fee of 2 Euros, you can enter, and look around. We decided not to do so.
