Sunhols Direct: Private House and Villa Rentals

We booked a village house direct from the owners. (See website link below).
This is a very reasonably priced, especially if there are a few of you.

Our holiday home was a village house in the old Moorish part of town, not too far up the hill. (but not suitable for the elderly or infirm!) The streets are a maze of tiny alleyways with twist and curves at every corner designed years ago by the Moors, to keep intruders out. You must learn your route - we were on Calle San Juan, which we duly remembered on first late night arrival and setting out for a local bar for water and a tapa, only to discover that there were at least FOUR streets with the name San Juan ! So it is best to try and work out a vague route before you set off, especially when the sun is hot in the summer; and don't forget your hat!

The house was spotlessly clean, cool, spacious and had great views from the patio.
It was about a 5 -10 min walk to the beach. There is a corner shop just a minute away for basics.

Great!

Picture no 2, the street to the left of our house, which is about the width of the Small Person!

Unique Quality: This is traditional Spain. You don't need a watch, because everyone moves and lives as a collective..You can just follow the noise or the silence.

eg...wake at 10 am, lunch at 2pm, siesta after lunch, silence, wake at 5.30pm (or later), go out at 10pm and to bed whenever - And absolutely no need to hurry or worry.

Two days in one really - Just how I like it.

Slight irritations :

Some of the windows of the house were not secure with large drops below. We were told not to open certain ones. Luckily, our children were that bit older and had the common sense not to.

Another irritation was the 'meet and greet' lady who hailed from Canada & who although efficient, was rather over zealous in her job. I'm sure she meant well, but barking at us like we were wayward teenagers very early, outside our rented house on the day of departure and when we were quite ready and packed, in the manor of a sargeant major, is probably not the best way to treat your guests. Especially after such a chilled out time. She also got our date of departure wrong a few days before and left 'please leave' notes on our front door! .. Hmmm

and one more thing - quite commonly in Spain, the oven didn't work.

Otherwise, a very pleasant, reasonably priced stay.
