Nice budget hotels in the centre?
by scotsgirl
Hi,
I'll be in Seville for three nights in June and wonder if you can recommend any really nice, but not too expensive hotels in good locations in the centre of town? Thank you very much for your help.

Hi!
Must it be a hotel?
In Sevilla I stayed in this nice pension: http://www.donatrinidad.com
they have only rooms with no food.
I liked the place very much, if it could be ok and you have questions feel free to ask.
Regards,
Sergio

The Hotel Corregidor is a typical Spanish hotel, with tiles, etc. I was there ten years ago, so quite a while ago, and liked it. Then it cost a lot less... I see it now costs about 70 Euro in the low season, going up quite steeply at peak times. However, have a look, perhaps you travel in the right season.
From the Corregidor it was only a short walk to the Giralda.

Down by the river, it was the most beautiful walk that I have ever been on. The fondest memories are the people there, they were so friendly, the weather was brilliant and all I can really say is that it was the most magical place that I have ever been to, you have to have been or go, to really know what I mean.
Sevilla Cathedral
by Martin_S.
Yes there is a Cathedral in Sevilla, surprise, surprise....even in SMALL towns you could find impressive churhces everywhere we went, so here in the big town of Sevilla you found an even MORE impressive structure. The amount of time and effort of the simple people that went into these edifices always totally amazes me...if you think about it, here are a generally poor population, ruled by rich barons and church pontifs...putting their money toward making this physical gesture toward their god. I think I would put food on my table first and worry about the afterlife when I get there. But still these are, as I said, impressive architectural structures and often beautiful to look at. The detail, that went into even the smallest things on the tallest towers and spires, so far away from the ground that only God could enjoy seeing them, today you can see with your camera zoom....
Susanna's treachery
by Kuznetsov_Sergey
A lot of legends are connected with Santa Cruz district. One of the legends explains the name of Calle Susona street. Jew Susanna has grown fond of a christian knight. When she has found out, that her father with friends are going to kill Christians, she solved on treachery and warned about it her beloved. In a Jewish pogrom which followed the girl and her family were killed. In memory of treachery her skull was hung out above a doorway of Susanna's house. Improbably?

In early springtime, the oranges that grow all over the city are ripe. These men are sweeping them off the streets. They are collected and sent to Britain, where they make their famous marmelade of them!
Roman City of Italica
by roamer61
A short drive from Sevilla is the Roman Town of Italica. Founded in 206 BC, it was later enlarged and expanded by the Emperor Hadrian in the late 1st Century and early 2nd Century. Most of what is easily seen dates from the latter period. Amongst the foundations of houses and estates are mosaics that are well preserved. But it is the Amphitheater that is the main attraction. Once the 3-4th largest in the Roman World, it it still quite impressive depite the fact that much of the stonework had been pillaged over the centuries.
