Nice, but loud apartment hotel

This apartment hotel is associated with the hotel by the same name. It is in a very good location and consists of all apartment rooms. It’s a good place, especially if you would like to save money by cooking instead of eating out. The staff is really nice, though they speak limited English. The bad thing about this hotel is the noise. It is located right next to a restaurant and, since dinner in Seville doesn’t start until 11 pm, the restaurant closes very late at night. Following this, there is several hours of taking out garbage and cleaning. Then early in the morning there is cleaning of the street outside. If you want a quiet night then here (and perhaps Barrio Santa Cruz) is not a good place for you. Otherwise, ask for a room away from the restaurant. Also, the hotel has very narrow stairs and the elevator only goes up to the 2nd floor.

Unique Quality: The rooms contain a living room, kitchen with lots of dishes, stove, microwave, TV with local channels, large bathroom and lots of storage space.

This hotel is in the best location in Sevilla- Bario Santa Cruz. I lived in Spain for a year in 2003, so I know the city well, and this location is ideal. The room was very clean and spacious. There is a great view of the Alhambra from the room on the top floor. However, the ringing of the bells from the Giralda did keep me up every night, so I suggest you buy ear plugs (unless you are a deep sleeper and can stand the noise) The only other downfall was the comfort of the bed..it was hard. Other than those two issues, i would highly recommend this hotel. The staff was super nice, and you can’t beat the location and price.

Traveler's tip on dining
Restaurante San Marco in Santa Cruz is adorable, wonderful mozarabe architercture. Corral de Agua on Calle Agua in Santa Cruz is a romantic, quaint restaurant...great for dates. :)

Brilliant!

Just back from a long weekend in Sevilla and 6 of us stayed in the Apartamentos Murillo. 4 in one big apartment and 2 in one small one. I picked them because of reviews here and the great location.

The apartments were spotless, with great air-con and the 2 bedroom one even had 2 bathrooms, a real plus with 4 girls trying to get ready.

The staff were as great as mentioned in previous reviews and I could not recommend them strongly enough.

Sevilla is a beautiful city..even when 47oC!!

Wonderful location, excellent apartments

by TripAdvisor Member carterbequest

Apartamentos Murillo are the perfect place to stay in Seville. They are located within the maze of tiny streets that is the Barrio Santa Cruz and within spitting distance of the Cathedral and Alcazar. They are very clean and comfortable and have everything you'd need if you were cooking for yourself, fridge, cooker, microwave etc. However, even if you aren't the small kitchen and sitting area gives a great feeling of space which is quite different to the usual hotel bedroom. We didn't do any cooking but the living space, and great air conditioning, provided a wonderful respite from the summer heat (it hit 43 degrees, scorchio !). Although even without the aircon the room was pretty cool.

We wanted a place that was within easy reach of all the main attractions and the Murillo is certainly that. It is down a small alleyway and so close to numerous tapas bars and cafe's. Perfect to slip back from a long lunch or late night or chilling out in one of the nearby squares or gardens. The public Murillo gardens are 2 minutes walk away and felt like a private haven they were so quiet. The flamenco show just around the corner was superb. This was my second trip to Seville, the first was just for a day 20 years ago, and I wasn't disappointed. It is a wonderful city, very compact and has a calmness and gentle pace of life during the day and a vibrancy at night. Maybe this is just in the hot summer months but it was an extremely relaxing city and even the places heavily frequented by vistors didn't have the tiredness that can beset attractions in some cities. We ate some wonderful food, Casa Robles near the Cathedral was excellent as was the restaurant on the Triana side of the Puente Sa Telmo. Having read various reviews of Tapas bars and sampled many others we would suggest that you just follow your instincts (and nose!). It was great fun just having a drink and one tapa, if it is good have another if just OK move on.

In a city like Seville where great eating places are so plentiful there is no need to stay in a hotel and the Apartamentos Murillo offer the perfect alternative. Highly recommended.

Modern & Efficient

by TripAdvisor Member liqdstar519

APartamentos Murillo was great. It's very modern, with central ac (rare on our europe trip). the studio is small, but fully equipped.
the kitchen has full pots, pans, and dishes, anything you would need to cook or reheat food.

the best is the bathroom. modern, large and extremely clean.

the front desk is also very helpful, and the location couldn't be beat. it's right in the old town of sevilla, a few meters from the cathedral.
the only problem we had was with the lighting. it's really dark in the bedroom during the day, and we couldn't open our shades.

our view also was horrible, it was of the building across from us.

Breakfast is decent. I think it was 5 euros extra. it consisted of fresh orange juice, coffee, cereals, cold cuts and cheese, and yogurt. overall a good value.

I stayed at the apartments for 4 days, and the regular murillo room for one night. the murillo hotel rooms are much smaller, shabbier, and less modern. for an extra 20 euros, the apartments are very worth it.

Murillo is perfect.

I stayed at Hotel Murillo and I have also stayed at Apartments Murillo. Both are excellend but I prefer the apartments because they have been remodeled. The hotel and apartments are about 300 feet apart and are in a fantastic location in the city. The streets around the hotel are so narrow only people and motorcycles fit. No cars at all. Seville is a great city. Go during the week before Easter (Holy Week). What a wonderful experience!! Just do it!!

Excellent place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member Peadoa

I stayed with a friend in the two bed, two bath apartment and can recommend them without hesitation. The apartments are in tiny alleyway (no car access) in a characterful building right in the Barrio Santa Cruz, making most of the major attractions within easy walking distance.

The apartment itself was extremely clean and comfortably modern. Kitchenette area was a tad on the small side but who wants to cook and wash up on holiday? We made a suggestion in their suggestion questionnaire that they might like to provide at least some bottled water in the fridge, and perhaps a pint of milk, but that's being picky.

The reception staff were unfailingly polite and spoke excellent English. If we had any gripe at all, it would be that our ground floor apartment was noisy with pedestrian traffic outside the window, and the front door. Ask for an apartment at the back and upstairs if you value peace and quiet.

Bear in mind that the front door is locked at 11:30pm, and so you have to wander to the Hotel Murillo (about 100 yards) and ask to be let in! All in all, though, we had a wonderful time and will be going back.

Loved Seville

by TripAdvisor Member M&Ben

We stayed in a one bedroomed flat in Murillo Apartments. They were well kitted out and had everything possible that you would need, especially the wine opener. The staff on reception were very friendly and spoke very good english as our spanish was practically zero. We got lost when the cab dropped us near the apartments as it is a little maze of streets in Bario Santa Cruz. It was quite noisy at night and if we go to stay there again I would ask for a rear apartment. We were out most of the time anyway and usually came back for a siesta in the afternoon. There is some lovely tapas bars nearby and the food was great. .

There is so much to see and do in Seville, I would need to go back and do the things that I didn't do last time. We got the hang of the buses just as we were leaving. The bus station is near Murillo Gardens which is very near. Though most things are within walking distance. We took the bus to go to Santa Justa Train Station when we went to Cordoba, which was very cheap on the train 7.70 euros on the slower one. Worth a visit if you have time. There is a little supermarket about 10 minutes walk for water and milk, there is a little shop for bread and water which is a few minutes away, just check the opening times.

I did cook one evening, we had superb fish that is so cheap and fresh. It was worth cooking in for a change.

I would definately go back to Murillo Apartments in Seville.

This is the place to stay!!

We just returned from a 5 night stay here. We had the wonderful 2 bedroom (one double bed and 2 single beds) apartment. It had two full sized bathrooms. Everything was so clean. Had new towels everyday and room cleaned, but not sheets, which was fine. I did not use the kitchen except for mini-fridge and to make coffee in the morning. Has fantastic A/C. Felt so great in 97 degree weather!!

We were on ground floor, but truthfully we never heard any noise. Rooms had great curtains and we slept in every morning. We did go to hotel for breakfast a few mornings. Think it was about 5 E. Boys loved it and ate very well, no limits on anything. Desk was wonderful. As others have mentioned they spoke perfect English and were happy to help in anyway. Not a big deal to be let in after 11 at all. Seville is a treat to be savoured..don't rush through here. We planned on day trips, but couldn't bring ourselves to leave.

I would avoid the restaurants right on the square by Cathedral esp. an irish pub. Forgot the name, but was awful. Just walk a little down the streets. Lots of choices..but at night when it gets busy make sure you ask before you sit down at cafe's. Otherwise you might get an earful! :) There is a nice internet cafe on the other side of Cathedral. We left the boys there and walked around for a while. We also took a walking tour that starts in front of city hall. We did a lot of sitting and just enjoying it. When we got the bill, we were charged 5 E less than our reservation price! You will not regret staying here. The taxi cannot come to hotel, but will drop you just a short way away. Our boys brought their skateboards and we took them to Bus station where they have a big skate park. They had a blast.

Pretty good stay - not perfect

by TripAdvisor Member jgphilly

My husband and our two friends that we were travelling with chose this hotel because of the recommendations on TripAdvisor. Since we were able to reserve a 2 bedrooom/2 bathroom apartment, we saved some money vs. renting two separate hotel rooms. The apartment was decorated nicely and had a living room w/ TV, breakfast area with a table and chairs and a small kitchen that appeared to be reasonably well equipped. We only stayed there for one night so we didn't really utilize all the apartment had to offer. Overall, we liked this place - location is very good, but the showers really stunk - the temperature would fluctuate pretty significantly throughout the shower. There was also construction going on right outside the hotel so we were awoken quite early to jackhammering. I would, however, recommend the place as I thought it was a pretty good value. (But bring your own travel alarm clock)
