See and do as much as you can!...
by MarcoAntonio
See and do as much as you can! I loved this place, with it's ancient arabic architecture and it's busy life! I really enjoyed the flamenco festival that was going on there, along with going out and about to the night clubs... going up the Giralda in the cathedral and the Palace
Columbus
by tini58de
Christopher Columbus was not born in Sevilla, and he did not die here, but still he is a very important person in Sevilla's history. He was an Italian serving the Spanish king and queen and they were the ones granting him the ships to sail the Atlantic.
Christopher Columbus is buried in the Cathedral of Sevilla, but only after a long journey back and forth..... , but that is another story!
Rite of Passage
by Sue08080
These high school girls were dancing for the tourists to earn money for a school trip. They were very sweet and charming to watch!
This was quite different from the very serious performers of El Patio.
Staring
by betis1
Curiosity breeds the art of staring. In the U.S. this can get you into trouble with the wrong people ("What're you looking at?!?"). Here if you look a bit different or are simply walking by someone in the street be ready for others to stare at you. And don't be surprised if they look longer than a few seconds. Unlike the U.S. it's not time to square off and get into a defensive position. Sure, some people may be muttering some insult about foreigners under their breath, but the majority are simply curious and getting a better look. People will stare whether you are a tourist or a Spaniard, but more often they'll stare at a visitor because you likely look different from the people living here.
Plaza de Cabildo
by tompt
The Plaza de Cabildo is a lovely square with a round building surrpounding it. There are some small shops, that sell amongst other things: sweets made in a monastery and coins. There is also a restaurant there.
You can reach this Plaza from the Avenida de la Constucion across the cathedral. Or through a gate opposite the Thomas de Ibarra (street)
