Directions from Estacion de Santa Justa

by riorich55

I am looking for an answer for my daughter and her friend who are traveling in Europe right now. What is the best way to get from the train station in Sevilla (Estacion de Santa Justa) to the Alcora Hotel in Sevilla? Is there a specific bus to take? Any other means of getting to their hotel?

The hotel website (http://www.hotelalcora.com) has only pages in Spanish at the moment, as the English pages are not available. However, the Spanish pages say: "Transporte en nuestra Minibus gratuito a la estación de AVE, centro Ciudad e Isla Mágica ( previa reserva, plazas limitadas )" or "[we have] free transport in our minibus to the AVE station, the city center, and to Magic Island (prior reservation, limited seats)". I see in the Spanish language Wikipedia that Santa Justa is the AVE station, so this is good...

However, I saw on tripadvisor.com someone complaining about the difficulty of getting the shuttle bus to come get them (the website site does say prior reservations...maybe just calling them when you arrive may not work or you may have to wait a while)...

e hotel location is in Aljarafe/San Juan de Aznafarache which is on the western side of the city quite near two very large stores: CARREFOUR and EL CORTE INGLES/HIPERCOR.
The CARREFOUR ALJARAFE may be closest.
The hotel website specifically offers free pick up at Santa Justa station so I would definitely try for that ! Otherwise it would be a taxi fare of perhaps about Euros 15 or taking the bus which would mean a grasp of Spanish & Map reading. A change of bus from outside Santa Justa station would be necessary but I don't have my Seville bus map on me. The hotel itself can advise you on best route if this is the way you decide but I think it sounds like (1) hotel transport (2) taxi (3) bus

the following site map shows the hotel about 7km SE of Santa Justa (http://www.holidaycityeurope.com/alcora-seville/map.html) A bit too far to walk. I would do the taxi and figure it part of the travel costs.

Travel Tips for Sevilla

See and do as much as you can!...

by MarcoAntonio

See and do as much as you can! I loved this place, with it's ancient arabic architecture and it's busy life! I really enjoyed the flamenco festival that was going on there, along with going out and about to the night clubs... going up the Giralda in the cathedral and the Palace

Columbus

by tini58de

Christopher Columbus was not born in Sevilla, and he did not die here, but still he is a very important person in Sevilla's history. He was an Italian serving the Spanish king and queen and they were the ones granting him the ships to sail the Atlantic.

Christopher Columbus is buried in the Cathedral of Sevilla, but only after a long journey back and forth..... , but that is another story!

Rite of Passage

by Sue08080

These high school girls were dancing for the tourists to earn money for a school trip. They were very sweet and charming to watch!

This was quite different from the very serious performers of El Patio.

Staring

by betis1

Curiosity breeds the art of staring. In the U.S. this can get you into trouble with the wrong people ("What're you looking at?!?"). Here if you look a bit different or are simply walking by someone in the street be ready for others to stare at you. And don't be surprised if they look longer than a few seconds. Unlike the U.S. it's not time to square off and get into a defensive position. Sure, some people may be muttering some insult about foreigners under their breath, but the majority are simply curious and getting a better look. People will stare whether you are a tourist or a Spaniard, but more often they'll stare at a visitor because you likely look different from the people living here.

Plaza de Cabildo

by tompt

The Plaza de Cabildo is a lovely square with a round building surrpounding it. There are some small shops, that sell amongst other things: sweets made in a monastery and coins. There is also a restaurant there.

You can reach this Plaza from the Avenida de la Constucion across the cathedral. Or through a gate opposite the Thomas de Ibarra (street)
