Right on the beach in Torremolinos

We stayed here on good advice from vt friends and found this hotel to be in a great position right by the beach.

The hotel had everything you could ask for including free wifi, breakky included and car parking. The staff were helpful and accommodating.

Our stay was comfortable and I would recommend this place to stay when visiting Torremolinos.

Great option

Thanks to LoriPori for recommending this aparthotel for a winter break to Torremolinos.

I shared a studio apartment with a fellow VTer at a cost of 44€ per night between us.

The aparthotel is located on the seafront in the Bajondillo Beach area of Torremolinos and all apartments have either full or side sea views.

Our studio apartment comprised :
2 twin beds
small dining table and chairs
coffee table
2 comfy chairs
small, well-equipped kitchenette (although no kettle)
en suite bathroom with over-bath shower
balcony with furniture

This aparthotel also has a bar/restaurant, card room, TV lounge, reception and entertainment room. It is a favourite of many snowbirds who come here from more northern climes to escape much colder, snowier weather during the northern hemisphere winter. Many of these snowbirds return year after year and have become firm friends.

These apartments are quite basic and you will want to ensure you bring a full set of bathroom supplies with you, including soap.

Unique Quality: This aparthotel has an excellent location : the beach is immediately opposite, there are beach front entertainment locations on either side and a great selection of restaurants are within easy walking distance.

Apartamentos Bajondillo

We chose this accommodation on the recommendation of LoriPori, and we had to agree with her that it was a great choice – a good sized room in a lovely location on the seafront at a very reasonable price. For just 44€ we had a large studio room with two comfortable single beds, a newly refurbished bathroom, a well-appointed kitchen area, tables and chairs, and a balcony with a side sea view. There is plenty of kitchen equipment if you want to cook (we didn’t though, being only there for a weekend and eager to try the local restaurants). The bathroom has towels but no toiletries. There was a small wall-mounted TV, a safe (for which an extra charge is made), and free wifi, though the connection was frustratingly slow at times.

The public rooms include a bar/cafe, a more formal restaurant, a library, a TV room, a games room and a social room where live music and other shows are put on several nights a week. Of these we really only made use of the bar. The drinks were quite reasonably priced and there was a good selection, though service could be rather slow at times. We ate here one evening too - the food was pretty basic (my toasted ham and cheese sandwich included ham of the prepacked "plastic" variety, which is a shame in a country with such great cured meats as Spain has) but was again reasonably priced.

The apartments are situated on the seafront towards the Malaga end. The location is very- handy for the lift or steps to Calle San Miguel and the town centre. They offer a free shuttle bus from and back to Malaga Airport but note that you have to book this 48 hours in advance.

Friendly staff Comfortable apartments

This was our choice of accommodation, for our 'Winter Warmer' VT meet. It was recommended by Hansi and Lori Pori, who had stayed here previously.

Booked directly with the Bajondillo. For a 2 bedded apartment it cost 44 Euros per night-payable on arrival. Free shuttle bus service to/from Malaga airport (20 minutes away)- Flight details were e-mailed in advance.

Friendly and efficient check in. 24hour reception- the staff are multi-lingual.
Credit cards accepted. Currency exchange available. Stamps and post cards available at reception. Free Wi-Fi throughout - activate your password within 12 hours, and it is valid for 2 weeks.
Internet desks on the ground floor too.
Safes available- I think it was a 10 Euro deposit

Our room was on the 7th floor of the main block- 3 elevators service the 9 floors.

A balcony (with table and chairs) gave us views of the bay and the beach opposite, plus over part of the town.

2 comfortable single beds, Plenty of storeage space-wardrobe (with coat hangers), drawers and sideboard. Tables and chairs.
TV, air con, fridge, hob, cooking utensils and crockery.

Bathroom- bath with powerful overhead shower, WC, bidet and basin, towels and loo rolls.

I had to ask a neighbour how to switch on the electricity- (room key, in a slot near the door!)
We also had a problem with a defrosting ice box, but realised that the fridge was set at zero, so this was soon sorted.

There are plenty of supermercadoes nearby to stock up on basics. As we were only here for 3 nights, we didn't really need to do a 'big shop' Carrefore and Lidl supermarkets are located in the town.

Soap wasn't provided, and the shops appear to be geared up for the 'long stay market' ie no small bottles of shampoo or individual tea bags etc.

We didn't pay for breakfast (08.00-11.00), but enjoyed afternoon tea and cakes one afternoon, and of course we did frequent the bar! The prices were a bit higher than I'd expected . 6.10 Euros for an Irish coffee-but it did pack a punch!
Restaurant, Cafeteria and beach bar available for snacks, sandwiches, soup and local specialities.

Check in-14.00
Check out-12.00
Large Locked Left luggage room.

The Bajondillo caters mainly for 'Snow birders' at this time of year, with entertainment suited to this clientele- evening -singers, musicians and Flamenco etc, plus bingo, board games, keep fit and bowling. While we were there competing teams from the 'International Underwater Hockey Championships' were staying here too, plus some school groups.
There was quite a mix of nationalities staying here, from Europe and America.
In the summer, family groups are catered for, with Childrens entertainment.

Unique Quality: All rooms have balconies, with sea views.

Outdoor Swimming Pool, beach umbrellas and hammocks, pleasant garden.
TV room, card room, well stocked library
Beauty salon/ hairdressers, laundry
Medical department facilities for emergencies

Free car parking, indoor Garage,
Car rental, babysitting service

ALL APARTMENTS ENJOY SEA VIEWS

January/February, 2008
As our usual Sol Principito Apartments were not available as they were being renovated, I looked for apartments that were in the same vicinity and remembered APARTAMENTOS BAJONDILLO was not too far away and on the Paseo. We booked using Booking.com which is an excellent website by the way. We paid 39 Euros per night and paid by Visa when we arrived there.
I didn't know what to expect as I was quite happy at the other apartment. We had a one bedroom apartment there and at Bajondillo, we had a studio which was smaller, but has everything you need really. I think the best part is that all the apartments have a terrace and enjoy sea views. It was so nice to wake up to sunsets and hear the sound of the waves of the sea.
The Apartment is located right on the beachfront, close to shops, restaurants.
Another thing I loved about the place is that people have been coming back for years and years. In the evening people congregated in the Lobby Lounge and socialized. We met some very wonderful folks from all over the place. One large group of Americans was with the Grand Circle Club. They were so much fun.

Update: January 27 to February 18, 2009
Hans and I again stayed at Bajondillo for three weeks. This time we had a lovely room (#209) as our terrace overlooked the swimming pool and the sea and we had sun for most of the day.
It was so nice to see the many familiar faces of folks we had met last year. Hans's sister Nel and Jean were even here for a week - awesome or what! There's no doubt in my mind, that this is "our place".

Update: February 3 to 24, 2010
Hans and I again stayed at Bajondillo for three weeks. This time we had room # 109, which I liked as we didn't need to use the elevator at all.
This year though, the price went up to 44 Euros per night and we booked directly with Bajondillo. We did get complimentary shuttle back to the airport which was nice.

Update: January 28 to February 26, 2011
Well, we did it - stayed for four weeks. And I loved it. We again had room # 109 as we requested it. Because we booked for a month, we got a 10% discount so we actually paid 39,60 Euros per night. Again we got free shuttles to and from the airport.

Update: February 8 to 29, 2012
Fifth year at Bajondillo
As we just returned from the Philippines, we decided to stay for three weeks. We had room # 209 this time. We again got a discount of 10% which came to 39,60 Euros per night. Altogether we paid 831.60 Euros for the three weeks.
Highlight of this trip was the Hotel Group bus Tour to Antequera and lunch in Periana. Also Hans and I took the bus to Marbella to visit Carmen, Stace and Sandra. We all went for a nice walk to the beach and Old Town as the weather was sunny, beautiful and in the mid seventies.

Unique Quality: Amenities include kitchenette with refrigerator, two burner stove and all utensils ( pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, etc), complete bathroom with a wonderful shower, central heating (individual air conditioning for the summer ), satellite TV with international channels ( English - only CN and Sky News), direct telephone, safety deposit box ( 10 Euros per week), daily cleaning except Sundays, daily change of towels and twice weekly change of bed linen.
Entertainment and activities are available daily. Once a week they have a Flamenco Show ( Saturdays), Movie night, Bingo night, lawn games, exercises, extensive Library (English, French, Nederland and Germany).
Large outdoor swimming pool and lounges with comfy cushions.
They installed a laundry room last year - very convenient but a little pricy - Wash - 4.50 Euros - Dry - 2,50 Euros. Open 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Get your chips at reception.

Other Activities:
Keep Fit - Social Room - 9:30 a.m.
Library - 12:30 to 13.30
Bingo - Wednesday - 7:00 p.m. - Social Room
Mini Baseball
Darts
Petanca Bowls on hotel grounds
Sangria Party - Wednesday - 3:00 p.m.
Movie Night - Sunday 8:00 p.m.

Free covered parking

A Base of Operations

This is the preferred choice of our tour purveyor (GCT). The accomodations are studio apartments with a mini-kitchen and a balcony view of the pool, the private beach, and sea across the road and promenade. Under most conditions a large buffet breakfast is included. The bar makes fine Sangrias (they used to be included nightly). The space and facilities are fine. If you are there as a senior tripper there are plenty of your ilk to cheerily chat with. You can do better and pay more. It would be a bother to go elsewhere and pay less. Extra weeks are available beyond the 2 we stayed. There were other groups and individuals there. Even though it was March the Northern Europeans were sunbathing and even swimming in the unheated pool.

Unique Quality: Convenient. The tour company was very attentive to old folks and especially to those who developed difficulties, minor or major.

hi just wondering what the weather is like in may and if the restaurants and bars are open during may, thinking about staying in bajondillo apartments is it a nice clean hotel ?

Re: ylimk

by LoriPori

We have been many times to Torremolinos and last year we actually stayed in the Bajondillo Apartments and will again in February. And yes, I highly recommend it as it is clean, right across the street from the beaches, close to stores and restaurants and good local transportation.
I can't say what the weather is like in May as we go January/February for our winter getaway.
Anything else you need to know you can ask me or check my Torremolinos page.
