Festival of San Miguel Archangel.
by Regina1965
San Miguel Archangel is the patron saint of Torremolinos. There is a week long festival in September, celebrating San Miguel, with the biggest day being San Miguel's Day (Día de San Miguel) on the 29th of September. Every day for a week one could see natives in Torremolinos dressed up, livening up the streets of Torremolinos. I was there for the the last day of the festival when there was a big parade walking down Calle San Miguel. A lovely event and I recommend attending at least some of the events. Most of the events take place in the Los Manantiales pinewoods, with thousands upon thousands of people attending the festival.
MY FAVOURITE GROCERY STORE
by LoriPori about MERCADONA SUPERMERCADO
Just a ten minute walk from our apartment, MERCADONA SUPERMERCADO has everything you need and at good prices. Actually the prices didn't go up too much from our visit two years ago.
Available: Baked goods, dairy products, canned goods, snacks, beverages (water, soda, beer, wine and liquor), very good fruit and vegetable section with most sold prepackaged, frozen foods, excellent selection of fresh fish, prepackaged meats, domestic and laundry products, paper products, etc.
I usually went every couple of days, so as not to have to carry too much.
Open 9:15 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. I found the prices comparable to what I pay here in Canada

The Esplanades
by keeweechic
There are two long esplanades in Torremolinos which are known as Paseo Maritimo de Bajondillo and Paseo Maritimo Cariheula. These boardwalks take you pass many large hotels and some very good restaurants and bars known locally as chiringuitos.
Another naked man!

Walking a bit further I spotted this athletic looking sculpture on the beach. Quite a graceful pose! I'm afraid that I haven't been able to find out anything about this piece of art - Name and/or artist would be appreciated!
With the palm trees and blue sky, it didn't feel like it was the end of January! I should imagine that in the height of summer this is a popular part of the beach to relax, and is probably used a lot by the locals from La Carihuela.
