CREATING ART IN THE SAND
by LoriPori
A novel way to make some extra money, is CREATING ART IN THE SAND. Some industrious and creative folks design and build their masterpieces in the hopes that some tourists will like it enough to throw some money in the bucket. Notice the overturned bucket in the foreground of the photo. These "masterpieces" can be found at different locations along the beach. I have no problem throwing in a bit of change for a sculpture that is well done and creative. At least they are doing something for their money and not just on the street looking for a hand-out.
Fish or Meat
by Geoff_Wright about Restaurante Casa Antonio
There are a great number of local Restaurants along the sea front (Paseo Maritimo). Most seem to have similar meals, and prices are also similar. when we were there, and due to the unseasonally bad weather, many Restaurants closed early, and others had few customers. The one in the photo was good value, and the staff were helpful and friendly. we all had Rump Steak and chips, with wine or beer. Icecreams for afters. I would go there again.
Breakfast at the Bus Station
by suvanki about Not sure of the name of this shop or cafe
Sunday morning, Gilly and I arrived at the bus stop to catch the bus to Mijas, as we had a short wait, and hadn't had breakfast, we nipped into the adjacent supermarket to grab something to eat
There was a display of pastries on the counter, and I selected one of the 'Danish Pastries' I think this was just over 1 Euro.
Next door was a cafe (open 24 hours) that served snacks and beverages, so I popped in for a quick coffee. This was freshly made and was quite smooth and pleasant, for about 50 cents- (I just grabbed my change, as I didn't want the bus to drive off without me) Standing at the counter, I could keep an eye on the bus. I wasn't sure if it is cheaper to eat or drink standing at the counter, as is the practice in Italy. I enjoyed my pastry and coffee, and could quite happily have gone back for seconds!
Stretching the Coastline
by keeweechic
The chequered pink and blue esplanades stretch for about 7 miles in total, adjoining the gorgeous sandy coastline of the Mediterranean. This stretch is one of the most attractive areas and is usually thronged with tourists and beachgoers.
Camino de la Playa
by keeweechic
The Camino de la Playa is a set of steps which cling to the cliffs at the end of El Bajondillo beach which were right next to my hotel - Melia Costa del Sol. The steps are pretty steep but there are rest stops along the way, including a platform which allows you to take in the views over the beach.
