More about Hotel Tropicana

Torremolinos

"Our first visit"

We decided to visit after I read a hotel review of the Hotel Tropicana on a website. Had visited Seville 4 times previously, but wanted to be near the water this time. We fell in love with the area. Quietness of our "neighborhood" and the ease to get to the big city, Malaga helped with our decision to go back and this Feb will mark our third visit and have even convinced family members to join us for a week! Something about drinking morning coffee on the beach in Feb! And the sunshine, although our last visit was a little wet!

"Road trip to Gibraltor"

We booked several day trips including one to Gibraltor. Was really interesting to tour "the Rock". From the views of Africa to the monkeys to traffic on the "wrong" side of the road.

"Our second trip"

We went back in Feb and even though it rained and rained, we still loved the area. Found a cafe that serves hamburgers in Torremolinos proper, one that serves pimentoes padron in Malaga and of course, Casa Juan (such good seafood but a little pricey) and the Cozy Nook.

prices for food in torremolinos

by wayne-windsor

We are travelling to torremolinos on 19th March for 5 days. There are two adults and two children 6 & 2. We are looking at our budget and we think 60 euros a day would be o.k. what are the prices like, e.g food, drinks, that kind of thing.
Thanks Wayne

Hi Wayne, i assume you are from the UK. If so the prices in Spain ( including Torremolinos ) are very similar to what they are at home these days. Some of the pubs do meal deals on breakfasts & lunches etc & the food quality is generally pretty good, Darren.

Travel Tips for Torremolinos

Costa Del Sol

by keeweechic

The Costa del Sol is in the southern region of Spain, literally known as Coast of the Sun. There are many towns and villages dotting the Mediterranean coastline and are popular summertime destinations for those wanting to get just get away to relax in the wonderful climate. With the influx of tourist, these towns have transformed from quiet fishing villages to playgrounds.

A Danish restaurant - Den lille have.

by Regina1965 about El pequeno Jardín - The small garden.

El Pequeno Jardín "Den Lille Have" is an authentic Danish restaurant and as such has this extra touch of the Danish "hygge sig" factor. We had Danish "frikadeller" meat balls and chicken breast with Roqueford cheese gravy. Dining in the restaurant garden was lovely, the Danes know how to create this extra cozy atmosphere. I guess I am still coloured by the fact that my first visit abroad was to Denmark when I was 8 and I am still fascinated by all things Danish :D Authentic "Danish" frikadeller is always a delight.

San Miguel Arcángel

by toonsarah

The parish church of San Miguel Arcángel stands in a small square near the bottom of Calle San Miguel, just as it reaches the steps down to sea level. It is a pretty, white church built in the neo-classical style, with a statue of its namesake saint above the door and a small belfry above that. Inside it is simple and quite stark in appearance, with a few gold-framed paintings adding colour and a touch of richness to its painted white walls. San Miguel is the patron saint of Torremolinos, and his day, the 29th September (Michaelmas Day) is marked with a week-long festival of processions, parades and events.

Plaza de Andalucia?

by suvanki

Leaving Avenida Jesus Santos Rein, we wandered into this square, which I think was Plaza de Andalucia, due to the attractive blue tiled seats, which had crests of the towns of this region. (If I'm incorrect, please let me know)
This is another of the towns pleasant Plazas, with open spaces creating a thoroughfare for those passing through, shopping , meeting up with friends or just sitting enjoying the activities going on around.

I was quite amused to see a group of boys playing football a few feet away from a sign prohibiting ball games (pic 3)

I would pass through this square again a few days later on the way to the bus station.
