Travel Tips for Úbeda

Monumental Buildings

by Carmela71

What makes special to Ubeda is the monumental of its buildings. You can find an incredible facade in every corner. We got this one just in front of the Palace of the Rambla.

It says that’s the business that was founded on 1889 or something similar.

A walking tour of Ubeda - 5 - Pal. de las Cadenas

by alucas

The Palacio de las Cadenas stands on the north side of the Plaza de Vazquez Mlina, and is one of the most impressive buildings in Ubeda (not counting the churches). It is currently used as the Ayuntamiento, or Town Hall. You can wander in the ground floor and have a look at the courtyard, and there is also a small ceramics museum inside.

The stonework on the front facade is very detailed - see the photo of the coat of arms. Also have a close look at those door handles !

Museo arqueológico

by Aitana

The museum occupies a Mudéjar house. There are findings from the prehistory, the Agaric culture, Iberian and Roman periods and Visigoth and Muslim times. For me, the most interesting was the museum itself: the patio and the upper gallery of this nice mudéjar house.

Colegiata Santa María de Reales Alcázares

by spanishguy

This church is the biggest in town, and the thirth one in the province of Jaén, after the Jaén's Cathedral and the Baeza's Cathedral. It was part of the Royal Fortress (Reales Alcázares) which doesn't exist any more. The building has a sober style and it's concentrating all its outdoor decoration at the main gate. It was built over a mosque in the 13th century, when the King Ferdinand III the Saint conquered the town.

Honest Old Men Hospital of the Saviour

by spanishguy

It was a hospital built for "poor honest old men" without personal resources in 1392, being one of the oldest charity institutions in town. This building became smaller for the construction of the Saviour Sacred Chapel and its courtyard was renovated.
