More about Hotel Palacio Blanco

A wonderful hotel that makes you feel so relaxed

by TripAdvisor Member DoLucy

If you do one thing this year in 2008 visit the Hotel Palacio Blanco in Velez-Malaga.

Staying here you will experience a relaxing time in a luxury hotel looked after by the owners Nick and Lesley who will make your stay a wonderful experience.

The Jewel in the Crown

by TripAdvisor Member YorkshireBulls

We stayed at the hotel palacio blanco between christmas and the new year 2007.
We found Velez-Malaga a fabulous place, very spanish not a hint of tourist commercialism. All the restaurants were very helpful and the food was excellent (a spanish phrase book would be very useful).
We arrived at the hotel early afternoon after collecting a hire car at the airport and following the instructions on the web site which were easy to understand and got us there with no mistakes.
We were greeted like old friends and made to feel very welcome from the word go. Nick and Lesley have a beautiful hotel and should be very proud of their superb blend of relaxed elegance.
The rooms are tastefully furnished with a moroccan style and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in!!!
Breakfast was whenever you wanted and the fresh orange juice and croissants were to die for.
All in all we didn't want to leave this oasis and are already planning to return having passed on the word to as many friends and family as possible.
Nick and Lesley have achieved a wonderful gem of a hotel and thoroughly deserve it to be a great success. Our advice to anybody is book early as we think they will be full for most of the year.

This is the way to relax

Just spent 3 nights at Palacio Blanco living the life of luxury and even sunbathing on the roof terrace in early January. The hotel and facilities are very good and Nick and Lesley are excellent hosts. We were very impressed by the conversion of the building which combines the sensitive restoration of an old building with modern day luxury. The rooms are big with a large bed and very spacious bathroom with extra large walk in shower. Breakfast superb with freshly made croissants and freshly squeezed oranges which can be taken out in the open air courtyard. If you are looking for 5 star comfort but with personal touch then Palacio Blanco is definitely worth a visit. Velez-Malaga is an interesting Spanish town with lots to see and only a short tram ride down to the coast.

Great weekend get away

by TripAdvisor Member GoddardMalaga

We saw the story of Palacio Blanco on Sky TV and on an impulse booked the following saturday night there the day after.
The rooms are as good as you would get in any high quality boutique hotel, Nick and Lesley live on site and the whole experience is friendly and relaxed. It is in the heart of the old town and if you want quality accommodation in an historic Spanish location this is it.

Real Spain is on your doorstep and it is still possible to eat out inexpensively.

Reasons to go back.. lots

by TripAdvisor Member TheMacs61

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Palacio Blanco, beautifully decorated and truly welcoming hosts Nik and Lesley, whilst there we were planning our return and how we could bring the whole family out and book all the rooms for a celebrtaion, even went as far as encouraging our eldest daughter to get engaged......a little drastic but so want to go back. Behind the front door is a very relaxing and extremely calming place. Like everybody the croissants are to die for especially the little chocolate ones, and the freshly squezzed orange juice is delightful. Sitting on the roof terrace at night with the churches lit and tateful lighting around the terrace was very pleasant, not too mention the drink in one hand. The honesty bar is like home form home, can't imagine any one not wanting to go back. Nik and Lesley truly deserve to be make a go of the Hotel.
The Bathrooms with the walk in shower is fantastic, every piece of furniture and decoration is to the highest standard could not fault one bit. Nothing was too much trouble for Nik or Lesley they even purchased pillows for our friends who are moving to cyprus and wanted to take them out with them. You will not be disappointed if you stay here, looking for a get a way weekend.

Shades of Morocco

by TripAdvisor Member peshma

We have just spent two fabulously relaxing nights at the Palacio Blanco.
Velez Malaga is a traditional Spanish town, with narrow cobbled streets, where the buildings have large wooden doors, opening onto exquisitely tiled entrance halls, which in turn, lead to internal patios.
The Hotel, which is tucked up an interesting side street, has stunning external wooden doors and a marble entrance hall, leading to the light, airy inner courtyard, which the owners, Nick and Lesley have designed to be used as the breakfast/coffee area. Tea, coffee and croissants were always available.
The colour theme of red, black and cream is carried throughout the hotel, giving certainly our room, a sumptious feel. The huge bed was extremely comfortable and the linen was pristine. The bathroom with its walk-in shower felt very luxurious. The Hotel overall was spotlessly clean.
We were on the top(second) floor, and loved being able to sit in the bar area, opposite our room, under the "sails" looking up at the lit church on the top of the hill, on two balmy evenings in November. Other guests made full use of the Spa pool, which for us would have been the icing on the cake, if we'd taken our costumes!
Nick and Lesley are a lovely couple, who made all of their guests feel especially welcome. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble for them, and they were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about this area of Spain, as well as being exceedingly generous with their time. They have made an amazing job of renovating this old house, and have turned it into a very comfortable "boutique" hotel.
Velez Malaga is well worth a visit - it is a bit hilly, but not a problem when you are ambling up streets looking into inner courtyards, shops and stopping in small bars or coffee shops. Local restaurants are reasonably priced, and appear to have good wine lists. We took the tram to Torres del Mar - highly efficient service, and enjoyed seafood in a restaurant there followed by a Paseo along the seafront. We also loved the feeling that we were off the "Tourist Track".
We would highly recommend this hotel and the area.

Relax and be spoilt

by TripAdvisor Member RivaBelfast

We were so moved by the amazing restoration project and brave resilience of Nick and Lesley we booked our stay in June 2007 straight after watching them on TV and months before they opened for business. Nick and Lesley lived up to and exceeded all our expectations. They are wonderful hosts who make you feel at home the moment you walk through the beautifully carved outer door. The hotel is sumptuous and tastefully decorated, sparklingly clean and the beds are as comfortable as any we have ever slept in (much better than our own). Relaxing on the rooftop terrace is bliss indeed and the honesty bar is a perfect idea.
Velez - Malaga is definitely the real Spain and not a tourist creation, the cheek by jowl flats and houses with the washing hanging out and the hens in the courtyard are all around. Nick's directions and recommendations for the local restaurants are spot on. A Spanish phrase book would be a good idea as the locals refreshingly don't seem to speak anything but Spanish!
We loved this hotel and plan to go back as soon a possible.

Fantastic weekend away

by TripAdvisor Member nic_scahill

My husband arranged this as a surprise for our wedding anniversary and it was fantastic. Nick and Lesley were brilliant and gave us loads of information about where to eat, things to do and general advice. The hotel is gorgeous. I would definitely visit here again. You're made to feel very at home and nothing seems to be too much trouble. I'm sure this place will be a real success. Nicola (and Jamie) Scahill, UK.

A lovely friendly hotel

by TripAdvisor Member eyreleeds

We arrived New Years Eve to a warm welcome from the owners Nick and Lesley. All rooms are impressive and surround a beautiful courtyard. The roof terrace is a real suntrap with great views.
Nick recommended two good local restaurants for fish and meat which were fantastic value.
Well worth a visit but mind your head when you enter through the massive wooden door into the courtyard.

A beautiful hotel

by TripAdvisor Member kimmyperry

We stayed in this hotel over New Year and had a wonderful time. The hotel and rooms are beautiful and Nick and Lesley, the owners, are lovely, really friendly and helpful. The roof terrace is absolutely wonderful with a jucuzzi and it almost feels like your own private terrace. The area is quiet and peaceful and very Spanish which makes a nice change for this area. Lovely restaurants nearby and very handy for travelling to other places.
We would definitely go back again and are already looking to book for a couple of months time and it really feels like home from home, Nick and Lesley are so welcoming.
