Travel Tips for Albarracín
Climb to the top and get the best view
by DanielF
It is possible to hike up to the town walls. The climb is hard, but what you will see is unforgettable.
On the one side, you can see the rooves of Albarracín, its cathedral, the fortress and the Guadalaviar gorge.
Hanging houses
by DanielF
The houses that hang over the gorge defy all the rules of gravity. No need to say, however, that their builders were masters in their job, as they have stood there for centuries.
The buildings combine the stone with wood and gips, so that the walls and structure are lighter.
The Julianeta House
by DanielF
The Julianeta house is one of the most characteristic in Albarracín. It is located at the confluence of two streets that leed to one of town gates and has an amazing shape: narrower in the lower part that at the top, there is not a single straight wall in the whole building. And that all, many year before that Picasso guy figured out his excentric Cubist style!
Rose coloured Spanish Town
by nada1712
"A hot June day in Albarracin"
Set in one of Spains National Parks the breathtaking beauty of this undiscovered pueblo is amazing at every turn. The cobbled streets wind their way up amongst the rose coloured buildings overlooking the Guadalivir river. Strategically placed it sits on the borders of the three ancient kingdoms of Castile, Aragon and Valencia. The Moorish influences abound as in th 11 C it was a Moorish town. It is a most charismatic place.
A history-packed mountain village
by MarcosBroc
"Albarracín, Aragon, Spain"
Albarracín is a small village located at over 1,100 metres of altitude, south of Aragon, near Teruel (NE Spain). Its UNESCO-awarded medieval quarter represents an outstanding architectural victory over the humble building materials used along hundreds of years. Excellent tour guides, and accommodation, complete a full Medieval, Christian, Arabic and even Prehistoric art experience. All that in a history-packed village built under the shelter of a mountain.
Be ready for cold nights and bring comfortable shoes though!!!!
