Location, Location, Location?

by Ladyplus

Hello,

I'm trying to decide where to stay for the evening while in Zaragoza. I would like to be centrally located near the tourist sites, restaurants and all transportation. If anyone is familiar with these areas, I would appreciate your unbiased opinion to help me select which area is best for my short stay.

1. Espoz y Mina, 33
2. Pº de los Puentes, 2
3. Marques de Casa Jiménez, s/n

Hello.
I have never used those hotels as I live here, but here is my advice:

I supose that if you ask about Marqués Casa Jimenez it is because you are looking for Hotel Palafox. Good option. Perfectly situated, in a central location, 5 stars hotel. I know the Rolling Stones stayed there, and the best football team in the world(Real Madrid) ;-)
The hotel in Paseo de los Puentes is brand new and from the same chain as the first one. I bet it is great, but not as close to everything as the previous one.
Espoz y Mina is a popular street in old quarter of Zaragoza. I don´t know of any good hotel there. Now, don´t take this very seriously, but If you can pay for it I would prefeer the Palafox hotel. I think it is a bit better "neighborhood" specially if you plan to go back late at night...please, don´t worry about safety in Zaragoza, it is a safe city...but being alone, I would be more relaxed going back to that hotel than to any hotel in Espoz y Mina.
Hope this helps.

Okay,

I need to know a little bit more to help decide.

I was able to google a map w/ pictures of Espoz y Mina, 33 2. It doesn't look too bad. Do you know of any good places where I can eat breakfast nearby?

I love the look and feel of the hotel at Pº de los Puentes, 2 3 - it's very 50's modern (if there is such thing), but it's not central. Would it be too difficult to take transportation for siteseeing during the day, or bar hop at night from this location?

And Hotel Palafox - I guess that I couldn't do better than this, but I'm still trying to save money, even if it's an extra 40-50 euro.

Espoz y Mina is not a bad option at all! It is very well situated, just 5 minutes to the main touristic square in town. The area is quiet and nice. It is plenty of bars, you will be able to have breakfast for sure. Tipical in Spain when you are in a bar: Maybe some orange juice, coffe(always expresso if you don´t say anything against it) and maybe croasant or a donough....but you may find too those bars with fried eggs and bacon, and there is always the spanish omellete(made with potato and onion, you should taste it). It should cost you less than 4 euros. One more thing...no smoking free bars here yet. I guess that may call your atention.
Just 200 metres from that hotel you will find C/ Mayor, very popular street with great bars where we locals use to have dinner and enjoy nightlife...I guess they do open in the morning too! lol.

The new hotel at Pº de Los Puentes was opened for the International Expo we hold here last year, but as you said it is in a new area, and a bit "cold" for my taste. No problem of going to city centre from there, that is not a problem.

Basilica inside

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

The building of Basilica amazes with the sizes inside. Three altars, the statue of Maiden Maria is kept in one of which, the dome and the arches differ unusual riches of a decor - statues, a marble, bronze, a jasper.
The dome is decorated by a fresco written per 1773. The appearence of the Sacred Maiden is represented on it.
