Casa Casero - Huerta San Benito: Fabulous Rental House!

by garridogal

We rented a gorgeous house in Antrialgo for five nights and just loved it. The house name is Casa Caseros and it belongs to the complex, Huerta San Benito. Prior to arriving we had corresponded heavily with the owner Juan Otero. He couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. We ran very late due to leaving Leon later than planned, as well as getting lost on our way to the home. It is really out in the country. However, this was no problem for Juan. He waited up to give us our keys and greet us. He showed us the house, explaining how he and his family have lovingly built them with every accommodation. The pride he has in his development is obvious. When we came back to the house on our first day, he had left us a bottle of local cider.

The house was gorgeous. The stone and woodwork were the typical Asturian fashion and was painted a beautiful shade of magenta. Each room had a theme and was decorated impeccably. I became quite fond of the "English bathroom" and used it exclusively! I slept in a room with fabulous pink walls and the view from it would take my breath away every morning.

Other features include a kitchen fully stocked with pots, pans, plates, etc., a washer, television (which we never watched but you might), a coffee press and large refrigerator. We also had 2 1/2 bathrooms at our disposal. Which, with five women, is a very good thing!

For five nights, it cost each of us (five in total) 100 Euros each. Where on earth could you find such luxury at such a price?

Albergues: More Perigrino Accommodation

by into-thin-air

The above tips were of all the Albergues that we chose to stay in, However as mentioned in the introduction, With hindsight we would have split the walking stages somewhat differently as we ended up walking some Very Long days.
So with this in mind I will now set out the alternatives Albergues in order that you will come across them from Villavicosa to Melide.
As I didn’t stay in these Albergues, The only information that I can provide is either from the guidebook or what I actually saw when walking the route.

1) La Vaga de Sarirgo – (25k before Oviedo) keys at town hall during opening hours and then at Bar Casa Ruto food available at bar and shop in village

2) La Venta del Escamplero (10,5k after Oviedo) 12 beds if locked keys at Casa Fernando where you can also buy meals

3) San Juan de Villapanda (3k beyond Grado 12 beds, keys and cello at the house across the road from Albergue – ask for Leopoldo – No faculties so eat or buy food in Grado

4) Salas - Turn left as you approach town, Albergue is at The Hogar de Pensionistas. 8 beds + 4 floor spaces – Eat or buy food in Salas

5) Bodenya – We walked past this nice new Albergue. All facilities availabele at La Espina – 1.5k on

6) Borres - Albergue with 12 beds, No facilities – Key in box in porch– eat 1.2k before at El Fresno (El Espin) which has a bar and shop

7) Berducedo – New Albergue in village, key at Bar / Shop where you can also eat.

8) Grandes de Salime – Albergue in town centre at Town Hall 18 beds – All facilities in Grandes de Salime

9) Albergue at Castroverde reported as Closed
