More about Hotel San Gabriel
Staying at this hotel is like being a guest in the lovely home of a very thoughtful friend. If B&B's were like this, I would never stay in a hotel again.
The staff is also delightful--the son and daughter of the owner were both especially kind to us.
Much to recommend!
Lovely hotel - charming, quiet and in the heart of the old city. Charming staff (except the night time manager but I think we were quite a handful) and every room was different which made for room envy amoung the group. On the downside - limited outside space and the breakfast was basic... but these are very minor problems compared to the overall property.
Great hotel near the center of town. Very clean and nice staff. Nice, recently renovated rooms. Little hard to find parking nearby so I would suggest parking in the underground parking at the plaza. Would definitely recommend this hotel! Great trip.
Location excellent - you can walk to everything. Staff will help with almost any request. Rooms are large and well-furnished.
Note that there's no laundry service, and lots of church bells!
This was our third time in Ronda - we love the place and could see ourselves living here. The hotel is perfect and our room was lovely. We had a junior suite- you can see it on their web site, its the room with the red draped four poster bed. Stafff were friendly and helpful and we were very impressed by the wide range of books.
Breakfast was perfect - fresh juice and fresh coffee, locally baked bread and croissants, locally made honey, marmelade and jam, mild cheese, pate from Benojan. Everything was local - except the yoghurt and muesli - and there was little note apologising for this! For those of you possibly put off by the comments about parking in other reviews - don't be. The staff directed me to a safe, free car park behind the square in the old town with the town hall and cathedral. Two minutes walk away. Treat yourself - have a stay in this terrific hotel.
Loved this quaint hotel
We booked one of the cheapest rooms at this hotel and still found it charming. Our room on the second floor was spacious and had a lovely little dormer window overlooking a typical Spanish tiled roof of the neighbouring property. We found the staff very pleasant & helpful and nearby parking was never a problem at the time we were there. The breakfast was lovely with locals supplying the pate, tomatoes, bread etc. as outlined in a little card on each table. The very tiny courtyard was out of commission with painters drop sheets everywhere but would have been nice to access otherwise. The staff made a fabulous restaurant recommendation for "Casa Maria"'s nearby - fantastic! We had a great stay.
Delightful small hotel
This was the best hotel we stayed at in Spain. It is like staying in a gracious town house, right down to the complementary glass of sherry before going out to dinner. The owner, his family and staff treated us courteously and were always pleased to help. The hotel is situated in a very quiet side street, just over the new bridge in the old part of Ronda. It was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see in this picturesque little town. It is a little difficult to find at first, but get to the New Bridge and it is very close. Parking is in the car park a short walk away and is free! Unusual in Spanish towns.
Our room was spacious, clean and airey. We cannot praise this hotel enough and would return there again.
This hotel was lovely, great location in the old part of the town. We stayed in the junior suite and we were not dis-appointed. The room included a spa bath large enough for two! The staff were excellent and the breakfast was the cheapest we had in any hotel on our travels. I want to go back again and have no problem with recommending this hotel.
We stayed at the San Gabriel for 2 nights. There were 3 of us so they put an extra bed in a twin room and charged EU125 per night. The hotel is really gorgeous, charming, quiet and clean. It's about 2 blocks away from Ronda's bridge between the "new town" and the "old town". Most of the staff speak excellent English and the reception area is manned 24/7. There are tvs, phones and mini-bars in the rooms and the furniture and features are beautiful. The bathroom was really big with a full-size bath. I would love to stay here again if I ever re-visit Ronda.
Loved the San Gabriel! The staff were extremely helpful and charming. The hotel itself is in a great location - very central and near all the bars and restaurants & the famous gorge. We stayed in the junior suite for 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay - the 2 person jacuzzi bath was an unexpected bonus! Breakfast is great too - only EUR 6.5 each and a delicious selection of home made croissants and toasts with orange juice & coffee. The little cinema is a fantastic addition and after a long walk around Ronda's countryside (which I also highly recommend - ask for the book of 10 walking tours from reception or from tourist information), watching an old black & white film was just what we needed. Only downside I can think of was that the bathroom smelled of drains a bit, but that's quite common around Andalusia as far as we could tell.
