TORAZU IN THE SNOW
In 2008 Torazu was awarded the prize of 'Pueblu ejemplar' for the effort the villagers have made to make their settlement look appealing and enticing to visitors. Their efforts have paid off, and on my numerous Travelogue pages dealing with exploration from Infiesto we pay a lengthy visit with photos taken in October 2008.
On 8 January 2009 I stopped ff here for a coffee at the hotel and health spa (a four-star establishment serving coffee for 1.10 euros . . . the views from the cafeteria are free, as are the spotless loos), and the snow came down heavily. So much so that I abandoned my plans to return to Borines via the hilltop road and Anayo, and sought the lower Villaviciosa to Infiesto road instead. Even so, the descent from Torazu to the latter road was rather uncomfortable, the snow being of the 'wet' sort, with huge flakes, and making the lane incredibly slippery!
Here is a selection of photos taken this afternoon, as the snow started to fall, plus two older ones from my October 2008 visit, to tempt you to explore Torazu, too . . .
