Garden Lago Resort
Garden Lago is a timeshare resort situated on Lake Menor (or Estany Petit), just along from the Lagomonte Hotel. The resort won RCI’s Gold Crown title 5 years in the row (1995 – 1999).
We had a big apartment with two bedrooms, spacious terrace, one bath, all kitchen needs. This resort is family friendly. After midnight no loud noise is allowed (but you can hear it from the neighbor resorts).
The only problem you may encounter here are mosquitoes – they are plentiful –don’t forget your repellent.
Excellent Caprabo supermarket (next to the resort) has fantastic selection of seafood, meats, ice cream and wine; fruits and vegetable choice could be better. Here is a typical holiday week:
Sunday 10:30 - Welcome party; 12:00 - Walking tour to the Hidden Church in the cave of St. Martin; 14:30 Monster Club for kids; 15:00 - Archery lessons; 16:00 – Ping – pong; 20:00 – Professional show.

A lot of Lagomonte reviews say that the hotel staff work so hard as if that excuses the problems. Correct, they do work hard but so do I for 48 weeks of the year and what I am interested in is the quality of my holiday not the lives of the people paid to make it happen.
The air conditioning drizzled out and it was so hot we had to sleep with the windows open the first night but awoke bitten to death so had to just sweat it out through the night times. The main problem is the clientelle - kids eating chips for breakfast, every woman and man sporting a tattoo, men eating lunch with their shirts off in what can only be described as a busy canteen. Meals were not a pleasurable experience, not an event over which one can relax. If you like burgers and chips 3 times a day for 7 days, you will have no complaints. Similarly if you enjoy listening to (or rather having 'noise' imposed on your ears) of drama school drop out 18 year olds rehearsing for the evenings entertainment all day long so that you have to hear 'I want to live in America' 7 times within 2 hours!, then again, you will have no complaints.
The pool is very small and as a result, it is over-crowded. We went during term time and were shocked at the number of kids there out of school. I was even more shocked when I was in the pool and a young ten year old boy walked over and gobbed into it and his Dad laughed.
The saving grace is that over the road, there is grassy area and another pool that seems to be quieter with nicer, more polite children. I had read a review before I went telling me about this place and it saved our holiday. It smells a bit but you can escape the smog from all the Superkings being smoked and the blinding dazzles of the sun reflected in all the gold earings the 2 yr old boys are wearing.
I sound like a snob but I'm really not. I have stayed in plenty of 2*S and 3*s and this really was a negative experience. THank goodness we were on the 5th floor on the side opposite to the pool, otherwise the noise would have been awful. You cannot escape the sound of young children swearing, tone deaf entertainment staff singing and odd smells wofting around.
The food is fine but cheap and English. If you want to taste the local cuisine or experience any Mallorcian culture, forget it. The wine is out of a carton with a cartoon grape on the side. But it's great for the kids because everything is all-inclusive so they can help themselves to coke, fanta and ice-creams all day long. However I never once heard one child or adult say please or thank you to the bar staff. If you like people-watching, it's good - we guessed Peter Kay had been there observing holiday makers before writing Phoenix Nights.
We made the most of it and had a reasonable time but you come back more stressed than you were when you left. You have to be a certain type of person to enjoy it. It will suit some people but others will hate it.
Hotel ok, guests disgusting
The lagomonte hotel, where do I start! well to be honest the hotel itself is in desperate need of an update, the rooms are very basic but also quite clean, the air conditioning is a bit hit and miss and the public areas are very dated. Saying that the staff are helpful and friendly and there weren't any major problems.
The was a bit dull, same thing evey night, although if you like turkey twizzlers this will be a la carte. The meat is cheap, salads dull and deserts are fat busting. However there was the odd nice meal but don't expect anything great.
Teh best thing about the hotel was the fact it is all inclusinve meaning you can get drinksall the time, but don't drink the wine, it comes out of a carton with a picture of a cartoon grape on the side!!
The worst thing about the hotel is definetly the guests. They were the rudest, most disgusting people I have ever come across really the worst that British society has to offer. Rude, ignorant, fat, smoking, horrible people. I saw one mum, very fat mum, lying on the sun bed, too fat to move grunt at her husband 'cigarette' the tattoed beast next to her responded by passing a cigarette to their young daughter(no older than 13) who lit the cigarette took a puff and passed it to her mum!! Then the mum allowed her to have one of her own!!
Please and thankyou were words which don't feature in the lagomone guest vocabulary and expect kids who pull down decorations (assisted by their parents) and blokes in their mid 40s who go skinny dipping in the pool at about 9pm in full view of all of the kids in teh hotel.
The entertainment is real Peter Kay stuff with bingo every night and some form of karaoke.
At know point did I feel relaxed becasue of the screaming kids and there is no chance you can have a nice swim in the pool, as kids run up to the edge and then proceed to spit in the pool, not very nice.
Take my advice, steer clear. I feel sorry for the staff who work hard and have to put up with the guests.
1st class holiday
We have just spent a week at the Lagomonte and it was fantastic. There were 3 in our party 2 adults and 1 child who is 8. I had read some really bad reviews about this hotel after booking and was a bit worried. The hotel is spotless, the pool area was powerhosed every evening. The food was excellent and there was a different menu every day, not always the same as some other people had stated. The maid service was very good and the staff were all very friendly. The daytime and evening entertainment was also very good, the entertainment staff worked very hard to keep everyone entertained so I say well done to each and every one of them. And as for the sun loungers there were always plenty. We also met some lovely families who had been there last year. We would certainly go back to the Lagomonte because it is so very family friendy.
Dont believe what you read!
As a party of 9 (4 adults, 5 children aged 7 - 12) booking a last minute break we read the views and went to Lagomonte hoping for a reasonable time. How wrong we were to worry. What the other reviews are moaning about is the guests, not the hotel itself. A hotel can not be responsible for the clientele and you get that kind of person everywhere.
The hotel is spotless, yes there are fat people there and people who smoke, and some did have tatoos. That is a fair representation of society.
There are chips at every meal, but you dont have to eat them. There is a selection of pastas, vegetarian options, different meats, fish, soups salads, paella and so on. I had roast, saute, jacket, mashed and croquette potatoes and chips on my last day! There was a variety of fish in different sauces including tuna steak. The pizzas were of many varities, there was always a selection of fresh fruit, including strawberries, mango and kiwi, cheese and biscuirts as well as pastry deserts. The restaurant was busy but tables were cleared and the staff were friendly and helpful providing us with a large table or 2 together, always quite quickly.
The snack bar on the island was a snack bar with salad, chips, jackets, burgers and sausages. You could go in here in swimwear, but it was a snack bar not a restaurant.
The entertainment team - Friendly helpful hard working and not in your face. You joined in with what you were comfortable with. The music was turned off at midnight and the double glazing on the balcony doors meant if you went to bed early - which we didnt - you heard nothing. The kids enjoyed the mini disco and silly dances, thats what they are there for. The shows were very well presented with outside acts and a holidaymakers participation show.
The pool was small and busy, but it was August and the school holidays.
The sunbed situation was no different from any other holiday. You had to get to the imaculate powerwashed pool area for 8am. to get a bed.
ON the whole this hotel provided a good value for money experience. We had fun, relaxed, ate well and would definately go back again.
