Great holiday

by TripAdvisor Member TheChesters

Had a lovely 10 day holiday here with my husband and 10 year old son. The buffet food was plentiful and varied. The hotel was clean and the staff were extremely friendly. Air conditioning in the bedrooms were allowed 24/7. Pool was quite small but lots of sunbeds were available. Entertainment in the evening was excellent and the Tribe Kidzone staff were very good as my son loved attending.
The only downside really to the hotel was that the walls were paper thin, we even heard our next door neighbour snoring and yes you could hear the light switches being switched on and off. It didn't put us off our holiday though and we had a lovely time and would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to have an enjoyable family holiday with lots of amenties. If you are looking for peace and quiet and a couples holiday then I wouldn't recommend this to them.

pity about the meals

Just had a great holiday in the delphin azul.Rooms were spotlessly clean entertainment for the kids was good.A bit close to a main road but not over noisy.Evening entertainment wasn't that good but we only saw a couple of shows.HOWEVER the food was very average and not much choice (ok if you like pork and Sea Bass). That said great hotel for kids.

grat value

myself my partner and two year old daughter stayed here for 11 nights, and had an enjoyable holiday the hotel is spotlessly clean the bedrooms are a little small but fine.we went to the beach for the first couple of days it is beautiful and clean but i preferred to stay round the pool got fed up of the sand.pool is lovely no big rush for sunbeds always plenty left over, and lovely warm water.food in the resturant was what you would expect from a foreign country, always something for everyone lots of fish and pork and chips but to be expected.drinks are quite expensive though.entertainment was ok some dodgy acts...security was a big issue when we were there people were getting thier bags stolen from around the pool and then finding that as the safe key and room key was in there they also had their money stolen out of the safe, there was also a room break in so be aware..............all in all a cheap plesant holiday

Okay but nothinhg special

I stayed at the Delfin with my wife and two sons. We had booked relatively late, for us, and we only really had a choice of two hotels, with this in mind and having read some of the reviews I probably wasn’t expecting too much.
The hotel is situated next to the main road in Alcudia and is surrounded by other hotels and apartments. As our room was directly above the entrance and facing a bar and what appeared to be self catering apartments, it did get quite noisy even with the balcony door shut. The bar across the road went silent at around 11pm each night and was no problem, unfortunately there always seemed to be a lot of passing foot traffic which made more noise than the bar.
Check-in was quick and easy thanks to the pleasant and efficient desk staff. A key to the room safe could be rented for €28 of which €3 is returned. There always seemed to be a queue for the lifts, probably because a lot of the people on the 1st and second floors couldn’t work the stairs. We were on the 6th floor which also doubled as a children’s playground. For some reason quite a few of the adults seemed to think that it was okay to let their darlings run up and down the corridors, screaming and shouting at all times of day and night. On more than one occasion the parents joined in. This hotel transmits noise more than any I have stayed in. The walls are very thin, which allowed us to listen to the Geordies having sex in the next room; luckily it never lasted too long. If the doors on the rooms are fireproof I would be very surprised as they seemed to be normal internal doors.
The food was mainly good but was repetitive and the selection was limited but this is perhaps to be expected in a relatively small hotel – it’s the smallest I’ve been in anyway.
Kids club and entertainers were excellent, the evening entertainment was varied. A couple of the acts were unintentionally funny but Abba Again was good.
There was never any rush for sun beds and although the pool is small it does its job. On our first day we arrived poolside at about 1:30pm and got a bed without trouble. A number of the kids were troublesome at times and it was obvious that their parents were leaving them in the hotel while they went out. Two couples seemed quite pleased with themselves that they had thought of the idea until they came back one day to find that their kids had been thumped by some other kids. Quite a good punch too, though I do feel he could have got more power if he’d set his feet first.
In summary, the hotel staff are excellent, the hotel itself is quite good but a bit noisy, the food is no better than average and I wouldn’t want to live near most of the other guests.

Good value for money hotel

by TripAdvisor Member P-Adams8

My wife, daughter and granddaughter (8) have just returned from the Delfin on a two week holiday booked through Thomsons. The reception staff were efficient and friendly, and would always be there to help with any questions. We booked two rooms as we thought that one room for the four of us would be a little too cramped. We asked for two adjacent rooms overlooking the pool and on a high floor. We got two adjacent rooms on the 4th floor overlooking the pool - just as requested. The three lifts were quite busy, and we used the stairs up several times and we always walked down ( our little exercise ).
The food in the restaurant was always good quality and there was always a good choice for all of us. I loved the bacon at breakfast, it was like bacon used to be about 20-30 years ago, not the plastic ever shrinking, oozing white stuff bacon that we buy over here. Pep and Antonio were really excellent and welcoming, a credit to the hotel.
The kids entertainers worked hard, and the evening entertainment staff were good - especially Jo who could do the mini-disco for a full half hour and not even generate a bead of sweat ! She also proved to be a good singer too. All but one of the groups were good, especially the Abba, Elvis and Jacksons, sorry but Xerox were rubbish.
I was surprised to read about the sunbed situation in previous weeks of occupation. When we were there, it was a morning ritual for everyone to rush out at 7:30 to chop their spot using the bar chairs and grabbing their sun umbrellas. At 8:30 when the sunbeds were unchained, a mad rush to swap the chairs for sunbeds and then, of course, reserve them with towels. They then disappear for breakfast and reappear at about 10:00. The hotel rules state no reserving of sunbeds, but nobody seemed to read the rules. Although there were still plenty of sunbeds left, there wasn't any ground space to put them on. We found that in the afternoon, many people had abandoned their territory and there were plenty of empty beds.
The beach was really clean with fine white sand, and very suitable for families with small children as there was a very gentle slope and you could walk out 20-30 meters and the sea still only comes up to your waist.
I would certainly recommend this hotel for families, there were no lager louts for miles !

Excellent staff balance out noisy hotel

by TripAdvisor Member bluebyrd1927

We are a family of 4 and had booked one room on that basis. Compared to other hotels we have stayed at in Mallorca, this room was disappointingly small but reasonably well decorated and very clean. Our room overlooked the street which meant it was too noisy to leave the doors to the balcony open at night. The worst times were around 4 - 5 am as people rolled down the main street well oiled after a night's clubbing, and there were always cars cruising by with their stereos on at frightening levels. The room did have efficient air con - but if you do book ensure you have a room facing the pool.
There was also a lot of internal noise in the hotel - the corridors appeared designed to magnify any noise, and the walls between rooms were very thin.
On the plus side the staff were all excellent - the restaurant was efficiently run by Pep, and from the bar to reception they all made you feel welcome.
The food is ok.....3 or 4 hot dishes a day, always including one fish dish......but rarely anything purely vegetarian. There were a good variety of salads and desserts........and a separate children's section with nuggets and chips et al.
The pool was always very clean, and although not massive never ridiculously busy. The snack bar was decent value as well, and there is sky sports in the air conditioned bar.
In terms of location it is pretty good - 5 minutes to the beach, 10 minutes to the town and 15 from the port area (all by foot).
In general, if you weren't trying to fit 4 into a room and were facing away from the street, then any stay should be enjoyable.

not returning o the delfin

by TripAdvisor Member gazzasafc

Stayed as a family of 4 and it was our 2nd visit as we loved it the first time 2 years ago. But this time was a let down nothing wrong wih resort but hotel standards dropping, food was a big let down from the last time, ok if you like pork! and fish, as these are on nearly every night. Also a family we met had a few things stolen only to be told off reception that they are aware things are going missing! Staff seemed hard to even smile at you sometimes but all in all we loved alcudia but will be staying in another hotel from now on if we go back in near future.

Spanish Pontins

My friend and i booked a last minute girls week away in the sun and this place seemed pretty good all things considered. We paid the same to stay half board as what we could have gone self catering for. Not sure if that was a good sign or not!
We arrived, in the middle of the night - the room was clean and faced the pool side in the middle which was a blessing, as we could have been put by the main road over the kitchens. However, i dread to think what they have made the corridors from as you could hear every word that was being said/shouted/screamed from 100 yards.
The food was ok - nothing special at all - fish, chicken (but not every night) or pork. Oh, and every night bar one if i remember correctly, the meat iwas either battered or in a sauce. I had kids meals most nights!
The breakfast was average for 3 star - the scrambled eggs looked like slop though! Sausages were ok and the bacon leaved a lot to be desired.
The entertainment was geared around kids which seemed to go down really well. The night time stuff was ok - we stayed in only a couple of nights to watch the Abba and Take That tributes which were very good. I just wish that theyd realise that guests are there for more than one night and it gets a bit repetative when someone shouts "WHO'S FROM ENGLAND!"every night of the week.
The hotel itself is about 1 min walk from the FAB beach - and 5 mins from the main centre of Alcudia where all the bars and restaurants are.
If you have kids (and/or like Germans) its great - if not then think twice before you book.

okay but wouldn't stay here again

by TripAdvisor Member JennyBabe76

my husband, our little girl aged two and I have just returned from a one week stay at this hotel. it was an okay place to stay, but in comparison to other half board holidays we have been on, the food selection really let the hotel down.

also, with dinner if you wanted water you had to purchase it in the restaurant at the cost of 1.70 euros! one evening we were dining and our little girl had a cup of water that we had taken in with us, bearing in mind she is only two, and we got told off as we had not purchased it in the restaurant! I have never been on holiday anywhere where they have charged so much for a bottle of water, especially as the shop next door only charges 40 cents!

the daytime entertainment was okay, but nothing was aimed at children as young as our little girl, so she could not participate and the evening entertainment was good but in comparison to the amount of children the dancefloor was pretty small.

the rooms were nice and the maid service was excellent, clean towels every day, which was really nice.

the resort was okay, but I found the beach to be quite dirty, every time we dug the sand to build sandcastles with our little girl we came across bits of plastic wrapping and all sorts of other rubbish!

I have previously stayed at the other end of this resort and from memory would say it was much more pleasant and clean.

I would not return to this hotel.

Brilliant Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member jacqschris

My husband myself and our two children stayed in this hotel for the first time last year and met up with our friends the O'Briens and we all thought the hotel was fantastic. the staff was friendly and the entertainment team were a really good bunch. The food was not typically British but come on folks the chef's are from Spain and are not used to cooking the typical British food. Some of the reports on this hotel leave a lot to be desired, if your looking for five star treatment then check out your star ratings. We have stayed in many hotels in alcudia(also 3 star) which have been appualing compared to this hotel. The delfin provides what it states GOOD ENTERTAINMENT, CLEAN ROOMS, CLEAN POOL A BUFFET BAR IN WHICH EVERYONE CAN FIND SOMETHING THEY LIKE, FRIENDLY STAFF. Also to set other minds at rest, all the other hotels we have stayed in over the last seven years, all charge for evening meal drinks. A holiday is what you make of it. This hotel is family orientated and does provide plenty of entertainment for children, provided you ask the right members of staff. Don't let some of the reviews put you off as this is a fantastic family holiday. To put your minds all at rest My family and the O'briens are off back there in 8 weeks to have loads of fun and meet up with Jay and all the entertaintment team again. THIS HOTEL IS THE PLACE TO BE THIS SUMMER AND FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO THINK DIFFERENT THEN GET A LIFE!!!!!
