More about Protur Bonaire Aparthotel

Wonderful time had at the Bonaire Hotel, Majorca.

by TripAdvisor Member Raj2622

Just came back from a week's stay at this wonderful hotel with my wife and 2 young daughters. It was a last minute booking (self catering) which we were very lucky to find. We had read the reviews of others and just couldn't believe at how much the hotel was being recomended.
Has to be one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed at.
When we got there in the middle of the night our 1st impression was that we had definitely made the right choice.
The hotel is in a good location close to the beach, harbour, shops etc.
Staff were excellent. And as for the manager, he was wonderful. Very friendly and courteous.
Pool area was excellent with plenty of sun beds. Other guests were very friendly and very approachable.
Plenty of kids when we went and so my elder daughter (aged 3) made plenty of friends.
Evening entertainment was ok though Thompson The Dog did get a bit irritating after a few days.
Daughter really enjoyed the kids club.
Definitely not one hotel to be missed.
We will return back there again one day.
Rooms very clean, tidy and spacious.

Trike Rental

by nigelw6443

You know the song Barnaby Wild, sorry Born to be Wild, well, you can rent yourself a Trike and even partake in an organised trike tour of Majorca. If it's not a trike you're after then you can also rent bicycles here too for a more leisurely tour of Cala Millor and Cala Bona.

The Beach

by nigelw6443

Cala Millor has one of the nicest beaches in Majorca and as the name suggests is "The better bay" to the neighbouring Cala Bona "The good bay" and is approx. 6km long and sandy.

There are sunbeds to rent and these sit under the shade of the straw umbrellas which populate most beaches here.

Cala Millor

by grayfo

The modern resort of Cala Millor ("the better bay") is located on the east coast of Majorca, and close to Cala Bona ("the good bay"). This resort is probably the largest tourist development on the east coast.

Sa Coma Auto Safari

by nigelw6443

As far as zoos and safari parks go this place is a bit sad but on a cloudy day when you don't want to visit the beach or pool this is something to do. I thought that the park was very rough, dry and rocky but thinking now it is no different really to the Etosha National park in Namibia. A bus will take you to the park for free from Sa Coma, Cala Bona and Cala Millor. You can drive around the park if you have your own vehicle or you can travel on their safari bus.

Entrance fees are not much..prices to follow this includes entry to the zoo as well and also there is a live show with Leopards, Tigers and Pumas.

Late deal success!

by TripAdvisor Member clobert

We have just returned from a week at the Hotel Bonaire which we booked rather blindly with latedeals the week before with our fingers crossed! - and it turned out to be great. The hotel is clean and spacious with a large pool and bar and enjoys a quiet location a short walk away from the main waterfront. Although marketed as a 'superfamily' hotel, as a couple we found it suited us well as a base, and has plenty of space for everyone to relax in. The Thomson reps were very helpful and friendly, and the whole holiday ran without a glitch. The resort of Cala Bona has some wonderful seafood restaurants where you can dine out on the harbourside; and also benefits from clean beaches and safe swimming areas. Renting bikes is a great way to explore a little further.

Thomson es cool

WHAT R U ON ABOUT, DO NOT DISS THOMSON THE DOG (NO P IN THOMSON) YOU MAKE ME MAD HOW WOULD U LIKE TO DRESS UP IN A DOGGY SUIT UNDER THE BOILING SUN? HONESTLY, THOMSON THE DOG IS A LEGEND WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM WATTIAH MATTIAH, I DON'T DIG
anyway here's my revie of the beautiful bonaire aparthoteture, cala bona, mallorca:
1. The hotel itself - 4 star with very nice quality accommodation, clean, comfy, etc...

2. Cala Bona - we had allocation on arrival and found the resort to be much quieter than expected.

3. Thomson’s super family - this made the holiday, the reps included bikini earmuffs and Magalluf woman (the way she said it on an excursion to Western waterpark), and a guy that talks like Craig from Big Brother. They were all top notch and provided good entertainment for the kids and because I’m an overgrown kid they had me doing the dances to the mimic man, the finger song and of course THOMSON THE DOG.

4. Excursions - as I have mentioned we went to western waterpark which was very good value 40 euros each considering it would cost nearly this much just to get there by bus. There are 4 rides there, which were essential:
a. Narinja - orange in Spanish, shouted by the lifeguard,
b. Slong - a random word made up,
c. Ice tea - that was the blue one,
and d. Bikini earmuffs - the rep who went on it ended up with "bikini bottoms where they shouldn’t of been and wearing bikini more like earmuffs" - that’s how both her and the slide got their names.

Anyway to sum it all up, very good holiday, would recommend this hotel to anyone, spent most of the time at the hotel, and great if you’re a child, or an adult who hasn’t yet grown up.

Excellent hotel. Shoot Thompson the dog!

We stayed in the Bonaire Hotel from 4th-18th August (half-board). This is a Thompson Super Family hotel. The hotel was fantastic -beautiful grounds, pools and excellent restaurant. Half board saved us a lot of money as meals in restaurants in Cala Bona were quite expensive. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. The Reps worked very hard and did a good job keeping the kids entertained. However, after listening to Thompson the Dog and childrens music and games for two weeks we were all glad to be leaving. The food in the restaurant was starting to get a bit boring and repetitive. There really is nothing to do in Cala Bona and all the trips we went on with Thompson were very expensive and really a rip off for what we got.

Trips we did were:
Caves of Drach.........absolute waste of money. Too many people in the cave, no guide and if you've already seen caves then there is nothing new here. You can get a taxi to this yourself much cheaper.
Western Water Park........ Too many people in Park. One and a half hours drive to and from this means very little time in park
Pirates Show............. Was very good but too expensive. 226 Euros for thre adults and one child (a 13yr old is an adult for all trips). We were sold "Quarter deck" tickets without realising that these were the most expensive.
Submarine..........This was excellent. Again an hour and a half to get there. All these activities would be much cheaper and better value if you stayed closer to Palma or Magaluf.

Over all a very expensive holiday. Relatives stayed in Alcudia during the same time and found it much cheaper. Portugal two years ago was much better value though the cleanliness in Majorica is much better. We used Air Tours for portugal and thought that the Air Tour Reps gave much more information and more personalised service. We probably wouldn't use Thompson again as we found all the Reps entertainment too much and invasive. On the bus to all these activities the reps do quizzes and play music (Too loud). There was only one rep who told us any history of majorica and even then covered two thousand years in five minutes. We felt we were being treated like children a lot of the time. We thought that the Air Tours reps in Portugal did a much better job balancing entertainment with information with peace and quiet
