Just right

Just got back from Cala Vinas.. only major negative was the room situation really. As a family of 6, we had to book 2 rooms in the apartments (using the AI facilities at the hotel). Despite the fact we asked for rooms close together and were told numerous times we would be able to swap after a few days, our two rooms were situated 2 floors apart for the whole week! Bit of a nuisance that!!
Anyhow food was good, hotel and apartments very nice and the Cala Vinas cocktail was amazing! Children's entertainment team were excellent and worked very hard, but the kids disco could have been longer and the bingo dragged on forever.
Overall though this is a very good AI hotel, close enough to the airport and a lovely quiet location for families.
Lovely location

Just got back from the Cala Vinas Hotel. It is in a good location, the views are great and the food is good. We were supposed to be staying in the apartments next door but when we got into the apartment the air-con was not working, we went to reception and complained and got moved straight away into one of the apartments in the hotel itself, which I was glad of because the rooms looked much more up to date in there. Only problem with it was it was right under the piano bar so it was a bit noisy with people scraping chairs around etc.
We stayed AI and I could not fault the food there was always a good selection at mealtimes, i.e soups, salads, hot food, desserts. Even at snacktimes you could get something warm (ok, sometimes a bit dried up) salads were ok though and you could make a toastie. The restaurant staff are a bit miserable but the rest of them seem ok.
The pool area was nice, a bit of a nightmare to get a bed if you didn't want to sunbathe all day, but the beach is very close and always seemed to be plenty of spaces.
The distance from Magaluf is ideal if you only want to go in for a bit of nightlife sometimes. (Quite hilly though.)
The hotel had typical evening entertainment kids disco, bingo and cheesy acts of singers and dancers.
Overall the hotel was quite good and I would recommend it if you have kids and want a base with good food and drinks.

Hotel looked nice when we arrived, room clean, veiw was lovely,
Then went for dinner staff nasty banging things around, food very poor drinks at the bar all out of date, we had children with us and after two days i had to ask for them to clean up baby pool, we had cheap food all week, and no snack bar,
The waiters at the pool bar where the worse, I was only drinking water and they were giving me warm bottled water no ice
If you go be prepared ask for cold drinks with ice and contact reception with any problems,
I Think this hotel needs new management as the ones they have now dont give a toss
VERY GOOD 4 star Hotel!
by TripAdvisor Member Ricardo_Almeida
I’ve stayed 7 days at Calas Vinãs hotel. It’s a great 4 star hotel and you’ll understand why. Here are the reasons:
ROOMS: not big, but enough! It has a great view over the sea! It has TV, air conditioner and air-dresser;
RESTAURANT: very good and with various types of food. Breakfast is also good.
BAR: nice bar, with a piano player.
POOL: 2 swimming-pools: one for kids and another (with the maximum of 2.25mts) for adults.
BEACH: from the hotel, you see a small and calm beach, where you can rest a while. But, I believe you will stay on the hotel, since you can dive directly to the sea (and swim in places with more than 2.50mts), just going down a few stairs. This is possible, because the hotel “faces” the sea. One thing that you can do here is snorkeling! You can see some fishes near your foot.
ANIMATION: One of the favorite characteristics of this hotel! They have a young team to help you. During the day, two girls take care of kids (mini-golf, bowling, etc) and adults (water-polo, volleyball, basketball, etc).
At night, a young man joins the team. They have a show time called MiniDisco, where all kids become dancing (your kids will love it!). After that, they prepare a Bingo time and, finally, a professional show is presented (I’ve saw Chinese acrobats, Russian dancings, etc).
One thing you may not like is: the show ends at 11.30p.m., and no matter the floor you’ll be, you will listen the party. The only solution is: become part of it
GAMES: 2 small pool tables, 1 table tennis and 3 or 4 games machines.
LOCATION: it’s perfect… if you want some rest! You can see on one of my photos that it only has 2 cafes, 2 supermarkets and 1 Chinese restaurant, nearby. So, if you’re thinking on a relax walk after dinner (seeing some gift shops, forget it!).
But, you are near Magaluf (25 minutes by foot or 5 minutes by taxi, about 6 euros). Or near the Casino (4 kilometers… you should get a taxi, about 8 euros).
But, if you need a rest and want to avoid Magaluf’s night confusion, you’re at a great place.
BOATS: this hotel is a privileged spot! The boats “Britannia Jet” and “Golphin” stops at the hotel, so you don’t need to drive yourself to another places. You can wait for the boat at your pool’s chair.
I’m sure you’ll get a nice stay at this hotel. I’ve had!
