  • Perfect location for Ca'n Picafort Holiday

    by

Back here in June 2005. Another great holiday and the hotel is in the ideal location. Very close to the beach, shops etc. Ignore the occasional bad review. The Clumba Mar is great and everyone you speak to there, is a regular visitor.

Unique Quality: Two great pools, entertainment every night and very friendly staff.

Directions: Onthe corner of Arenal and Av. Centre.

Beware the Clumba Mar

by TripAdvisor Member FrancesLondon

Stayed at this hotel very recently. When we arrived our name on their arrivals list of only about 6 did not have our surname fully completed - there were 4 letters missing from the end. It was fairly obvious that this related to us and we produced our hotel voucher setting out details of our booking. However, the manager took a different view and told us we had to leave immediately unless we paid again. Our party consisted of 3 ladies aged 63, 64 and 89 years of age. The manager of this hotel is the most obnoxious person I have ever met and treated we three O.A.P'S like criminals . We made endless telephone calls to our agents in England and their agent in Majorca who confirmed that everything had been paid but the manager refused to speak to them. After being holed up in our room for 15 hours the manager decided everything was in order but refused to apologise for the way we had been treated.

Also beware of Medinland Ltd. through whom we booked who do not want to know about any complaint we may have.

Nice Suprise!

by TripAdvisor Member gtslufc

After booking a weeks stay at the Clumba Mar for the 8th July i was abit sceptical about what to expect, even though i'd read reviews on Trip Advisor. You just never know do you? Myself, my 16year old daughter, my friend and her 16year old son arrived in the early ours of Monday morning. As we rolled our suitcases up the ramp toward the entrance, i was thinking to myself:
"What the hell have we done?"
Plastic cups, some full, some half full, of beer and wine were scatterd around the entrance and the doors were covered in mucky fingerprints. I was extremely worried of how it was inside! To my suprise, the inside was alot better than the outside. We proceeded toward the reception to collect our room keys etc. However, there was a mix up because we had booked 2 seperate rooms, not 1. So we ended up sharing a 4 bed room for the night, and it was all sorted the next morning.
The rooms were very basic, but clean with fresh towels supplied everyday. Everyone was really friendly. We woke up early the next morning as we were all hungry from travelling. We went straight to the restaurant and again, we were suprised at how nice the food was. There was a good selection and was all presented well. No complaints all week there.
Entertainment was good. Tribute bands like The Temptations and Elvis were fantastic! The beach is litrally 5min walk away. After breakfast, we decided to explore the Hotel. We found out that there was 2 pools for the Clumba Mar. The 1st inside the hotel grounds and the 2nd, over the road. I would recommend the pool over the road, as it was bigger, cleaner and plenty more sunbeds. So there was no fuss about rushing to get your bed every morning!
Overall, our sceptical views were unfounded and we had a fantastic week! Would go again to the Clumba Mar. You get what you pay for. Book with confidence!

Great Budget Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member jdes1

Stayed at the Clumba Mar in July.We got there 4 hours before booking in time, due too flights but, they gave us an all-inclusive card so we could go and get food and drinks and they had our room ready within 2 hours!!!
The reception staff were great and always very polite and helpful.
The food in the evenings was not that great hence we dined out a few times but,the breakfasts were great.Snacks during the day were also good.
Food was always hot though.
We would definately stay again for the same amount as we paid this time(£320.pp for 9 nights...all in)I think even if it was more we would consider it.....
Great area of majorca, with a nice beach and some lovely restaurants. If you want a busy/lively area though, this is not for you........

smashing

by TripAdvisor Member george2000

WOW we had the time of our lives!! I went with my 6 yr old son on the first week of the school holls. I decided to book this hotel due to all of the reviews i read all over the net they were great, now i see why.
-The food was smashing lots of choice for us fussy eaters and children and available all day.
-The staff were amazing everyone from reception, kitchen, maids etc
-maid service every morning with clean towels.
-Beware if you have a vodka and coke you get more than half a glass of vodka and a tiny amount of coke!! ITS THE SAME WITH ALL DRINKS!!
-The beach is a few mins down the road.
-Lots of shops two mins away.
-Very clean hotel everything is being cleaned throughout the day.
-The entertainment was mostly great the kids have a disco every night, also bingo lots of choice.
-The pools are spotless lots of sunbeds.
-My son loved the kids club i was sick of taking him in twice a day as it left me on my own it shows they were donig something right in there!!
-The aircon nice and chilly great when the average temps 32.
-There seams to no limit on how many drinks you buy with your AI card people were getting three at a time for themselves they were happy to give you a tray knowing they were for one person. Its very relaxed!!
There were so many people who were on there second/third visit here it sounds like the hotel is getting better and better not far off of 4* if you ask me. My son made so many friends there were only 30 or so children they all got on and were all gutted to leave eachother and the reps. This realy has been our best holiday ever mostly due to the staff at the clumba mar!!!
We left at 5 in the morning the hotel had a small selection of breakfast available hot drinks etc it was smashing they also put food on for guests coming late at night.
THERE IS ONE BAD POINT THAT DID NOT AFFECT ME BUT OTHERS GOT DOUBLE BOOKED AND GOT PUT INTO OTHER HOTELS OWENED BY THE CLUMBA MAR BUT THESE HOTELS ARE RUN BY GERMANS AND NOT ANYWHERE AS NICE AND THEY CAME BACK TO THE HOTEL TO EAT ETC. THIS HAPPENED TO AT LEAST TWENTY OTHER GROUPS OF PEOPLE FAMILYS ASWELL i would recomend that you contact the hotel to get some written confirmation your room will be available on that date just to cover your back i do know that huge amounts of flowers had been sent to these people as a sorry i dont think its the hotels fault. DONT LET THIS PUT YOU OFF THO its a great hotel!!

+++ friendly hotel

by TripAdvisor Member SamanthaDunfermline

The Clumba Mar is an excellent 3* hotel. The staff are excellent - especially reception staff particularly Pedro - and the bar staff at the Caracus bar. Food - plenty of it but only of a 3* rating which is fair enough as it is a 3* hotel after all! Caracus bar and pool great. Excellent for kids. Lots of snacks and ice creams during the day. My family consists of 4 kids aged 8,6,5 and 3 and they all made friends and all the kids played great. Good little mini disco for them at night.

Kids club during the day was a bit poor as reps just sat and read their paper and my husband ended up entertaining all the kids - not just our own. You could leave your children although hotel takes no responsibility for them. My husband stayed as children could easily wander off and only one rep seemed to pay attention to this - but then they don't take responsibilty.

Hotel very clean and room spacious even although it had 6 beds in (including bunk beds). Looked like it had been freshly decorated.

Good tribute acts most night and you could order as many drinks as you wanted at a time. Beer only 2% though! but spirits could be strong (or weak) depending on who served you!

Good location - very near shops and beach but still in a quiet locale.

If booking online, though, beware of double booking as it happened to us and about another twenty bookings. Don't think it was hotels fault - travel company. Arrived with 4 kids at 10pm to be told we were being sent along the road to another hotel as our travel company had double booked. Hotel was german and only of a 2* quality. Managed to get into hotel after 3 days and were given bouquet of flowers for our inconvenience. Nobody else got back into hotel. If you book online phone the Hotel personally to confirm your booking before travelling.

Excellent hotel for families - couldn't have hoped for better.

not bad for 3*

by TripAdvisor Member appaloosajade

Just back from Majorca and the Clumba Mar. Stayed there form the 10th July for 1 week . On the whole we had an enjoyable holiday and great weather. As for the hotel it is what it states a 3* hotel i have stayed in a 5* in Tenerife and you do get what you pay for would rather go 5* all the time but then wouldn't be able to go as often! The hotel is very clean and tidy with maid service to your room everyday, i found all the staff to be helpful and on the whole friendly. One downside is that the room walls are paper thin and we could hear everying that next door were saying, so they must have heard us too! However i slept well and it didnt bother us that much, just take your earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

The food was ok. Breakfast very good lunch not bad, just a bit lack of choice for the evening meal. I'm not a big meat eater and there seemed to be pork everynight. Not much choice if you are a veggie. There was usually some pasta but it was just boiled with no sauce on it at all, there was a big selection of sweets though. I would give the food in the hotel 6/10 we did go and eat out 2 nights, and can highly recommend the Gandhi Indian Restaurant if you like Indian food.

The hotel has 2 pools, the 1 at the hotel got quite busy so we used the one across the road at the Caracus bar, where the pool was nicer and always sunbeds available.

Entertainment at night was average, we didn't stop in everynight but what we saw was ok. The reps did kids entertainment before and after the main acts which got a bit repetitive the same 3 party dances 2x nightly and I was there 1 week and saw Clumba cat twice. Not much going in the resort entertainment wise either one or 2 bars on the front had acts on, i thought it seemed quiet for what should be coming up to peak season.

On the whole a good break away i wont be hurrying back, but then again i'm not a creature of habit, so like to go somewhere different each year. Good hotel for families and very close to beach and resort centre.

great family holiday

by TripAdvisor Member fletchview

The hotel is clean, the rooms are cleaned daily .The reception staff are polite and helpful 24 hours a day.The rooms are spacious with good air conditioning. The walls are thin so not much privacy. With one pool in the main hotel and one over the road you have a bit of variety.Hotel pool is where the entertainments at.
Restaurant:
breakfast: Great english breakfast and a variety for all ,kids didn,t like cereals because of sterilised milk had toast or fruit.

lunch:good selection of meats, salads, chips, pastas, fruits, this was great if you missed breakfast.

Evening meal:Selection for everyone ,sometimes a suprise
lasagne with tuna .err! Some nights didnt eat a lot but the majority of the time good food.Kids complained once or twice of cold chips.People complain but you are always going to be eating different foods than at home, all the staff ate from the same buffet so it cant be that bad can it.

snacks:pizza,chips,hot dogs,nachos,salad.

Hotel bars:Inside the hotel the lager is flat due to dirty glasses ,mosts drinks taste of malibu.Complaints to management go unheard.all the staff are spanish and arrogant.
Opposite is the snack bar (part of the same hotel) which is all polite english staff with clean glasses and a head on your beer.
My advice is take your beer from the snack bar to the main hotel or buy some samiguel cans at $80 per can and take them in.

Entertainment:Jaka,the beatles,Tony Ritchie,Parrot Show,temptations,Karaoke ,and more.
Bingo and horseracing for the gamblers.
Clumba cat.
All in all good entertainment and the club reps make it fun for the kids .

Things to do:
Western waterpark:Great slides good shows .
Hydropark:six slides for little kids bit boring.
Aqualand:long ques for main attractions

Doe,s & dont,s:
Go crab fishing near the harbour.
Dance with Tony Ritchie he lets you sing aswell.
Don,t buy inflatables we spent $40 and every day there was loads left by people who were leaving.
Visit wotsits bar.
If you are feeling energetic go on the peddloes on the seafront .
Book any trips through reception no frills is cheaper.
get up early for the sunbeds.
Try and take the camera mans photo, hes good entertainment.

Summary:clumba mar is good value for money,we had a great time thanks to Thomsons and John Malaka.

Wouldnt go back!!!

I normally go All Inclusive but this will be my last year!! The Hotel overall was clean and the waiters/resses were very polite and helpfull. The meals were Shocking!!!! I had a 1 year old with me and there was nothing for him at all!! The hotel did not have a microwave for to heat up his bottle, there for eveyr time we needed food or bottles heated up we had to go to room boil the kettle and wait that way!! Dinner time was better than tea time with there being fresh meat but the tea time consisted of lasagne, fish or salad! Every night for the children it was chicken nuggets or fish fingers! The entertainment was okay, the kids reps were not great, we stayed for the disco then went out. The cafe across the road which is part of the hotel called the Caracus is much better than the hotel we tended to eat there for lunch most days, The rooms were clean and tidied every day! No t.vs, we hired a fridge to keep bottles in and jired a kettle. The Air Con was good!! The walls were paper thin we could hear everything our neighbours were saying! I would not go back to this hotel!!

It should be rated as a 2 star hotel, be aware!

We booked the holiday with Escape through Co op Travel. I had much confidence when booking it as there where good reviews. Paid, what i thought, a bit too much for what it was worth. In total i think we got it for £1,400 but with us booking it 3 weeks before hand and it being all inclusive we thought why not?!! As we booked with Escape holidays we were on our own with no rep to look after us but we managed ok.
On the holiday was my partner 22, daughter 5 and myself 22. We arrived Sun 5th Aug at around 12.30am its a bit of a trip from the airport but if u fall asleep u r there in no time! As we walked in it seemed a little old fashioned but still nice. We checked in no problem and the guy on reception said they had put food on for the guests who arrived that morning. We thought that was a lovley gesture but i think it all started from there........

-ROOMS- Small but very clean, partner kept stumping toe on bed. It had no t.v and only two plugs in awkward positions. Air conditining tho was lovely and balcony was small but ok. GOOD HELP U IF U ARE NOT IN A ROOM WITH THE POOL SIDE VIEW, i will explain later.

-STAFF- The women are lovely and helpful at reception but then men, little confused when you try to explain things. They are not the friendliest people!

-MAIDS/CLEANERS- Excellent, made no noise. Rooms and hotel spotlessley cleaned. Pools were cleaned everyday too.

-POOLS- Really nice and clean. Sunbeds really comfortable just watch u don't get waffle print tho !!

-FOOD/DRINKS- AWFUL!! I am not a fussy eater at all but this was the worst food and drinks i've ever had. I had food poisoning on second day. Food was stale, not a great choice, was just warm. Drinks- Pepsi tasted as tho it was soapy, fanta orange good, lemonade good, beer ok but watered down. Plastic cups are small and u found u had to keep going back for more. Alcoholic drinks, ok if u like spirits. Food situation tho my partner had a cooked breakfast everyday and had really bad stomach problems. We ate out every night. Even tho me and my partner drank the alcohol everynight we were never drunk not even tipsy!

-LOCATION- Really nice to go out for walks as the beach is two mins away, plenty of shops etc., everything u need including a Burger King. Bars along sea front are excellent, recommend the steak grill house!!

-ROOM LOCATION- WHAT AN EXPERIENCE, had only two good nights sleep. Luckily had quiet neighbours either side of us, as walls are paper thin! But it was the fact at 11.30 pm it turned into 'Boy Racer Town'. That didn't stop till at least 5 am. Cars and scooters going past music blasting, shouting to the teenagers who hung around the hotel outside drunk. AWFUL! Complained to reception but they did nothing about it.

-ENTERTAINMENT- O.k had better at Haven but u have just got to make the best out of it and join in. Gavin was really funny not too sure about the girls tho. They put a movie on in hotel everyday and that was great if u wanted to escape out of the sun.

Overall it was an o.k holiday. Please ask me if you have any questions reguarding the hotel. Would not go back to the hotel and would only visit Can Picafort on a day trip. Would rate this hotel as a 2 *

***ADVICE*** Pool across road is just as nice but start make sure u are there at 8.30 to get your beds. Food and drinks in there alot nicer, it was actually warm. Try all of the snacks there they are fantastic.
