More about Blanc Palace Aparthotel
the blanc palace is a great place to stay, more so if you have children. we stayed there in may for 2 weeks and had a really wonderful time. the rooms are of a good size, small kitchen, but hey...who uses that anyway. the rooms are kept spotless, as is the entire hotel, with maids constantly changing linen and towels, and cleaning the room every other day. the hotel staff are fantastic, special mention for javi...always had a smile and nothing was a problem. the area of sa caleta is small and quiet, so if you are a party animal...dont come here. a couple of restaurants nearby...try the chinese..great food..very tasty...and even if its only to have something other than chips..chips...chips.
i thought the welcome pack was a nice touch...brerad ,milk, water, tea bags etc.....great childrens club, and lots for kids to do here....pools are great..never crowded...and always a sunbed to be had...any time of day...all in all we had a wonderful holiday at the blanc palace, and it was quite easy to keep 3 kids amused aswell.
one thing i would like to have had was a light on my patio, hard to play scrabble in the dark.....i would reccommend this hotel to anyone, and would stay here again if back in menorca.
Fab family holiday
We came back from the Blanc palace this morning and I am already looking for quotes to return next year. My Husband & I took our 2 boys aged 10 years and almost 2 years for a week and wished we could stay longer. The apartments are exactly the same as in the photos and video, the pools were spotless and the baby pool is shallow enough for toddlers to play in without the parent having to hold them up! The staff in the hotel are all polite, efficient and they love children and couldnt do enough to help us. The reps were fantastic and the evening shows were excellent (disney show, bump in the night, parrot show etc) it was like a pantomime every night and the kids loved it! We took one of the rep organised trips on a glass bottomed boat which was a great day out for all of us (even the little one enjoyed it and behaved well!) The food in the hotel resturant was fine, but not very much variety, but the bus stop is right outside the hotel and they run every 15 mins. You can travel to Cuitadella or Cala Bosh within 15- 20 mins for 5 euros for a family of 4 and there are wonderful resturants, bars, marinas, shopping centres to explore. The Blanc palace is a quiet hotel but is very close to more lively resorts. Perfect for all ages of children with great activities for older ones by the pool every day. The hotel layout is very pretty and practical, the apartment was cleaned every other day, we couldnt fault the hotel at all and the beaches were lovely (apart from the jelly fish!) I would recommend this hotel to anyone with children
We got a great late deal for 2 weeks in menorca staying at the Blanc Palace. We chose these apartments mainly because of it's family appeal with lots to do for children. Our son wasn't old enough for the kids club but went to the creche once and enjoyed the soft play area, kid's pool, games room small park and the family entertainment every night .
The rooms are clean though a bit basic have everything u need. The staff are very helpfull and friendly.
The restuarant and snack bar are ok but a little pricey we found.
There are some little shops very close by, the big hypermarket is a 10 - 15 minute walk but well worth a trip as things are a lot cheaper unless u have a buggy to load up with shopping i would get a cab back.
There is a few local restuarants ocean is recommened it has lovely food and a wide seletion on the menu and a bouncy castle for kids.
The beach that is at the back of the hotel was covered in seaweed and looked a bit dirty when we went but if you follow the coast round to the left a five min walk brings you to a lovely beach and more restuarants.
We caught the bus just outside the hotel which was easy and cheap to local towns and the aqua park much cheaper then the trips the reps offer. We didn't hear anyone saying anything good about these trips. We booked a dinner and dance thing up i think it was called summer madness. It was a really basic meal with the reps as entertainment and very cheap tasting free drinks a waste of time and money.
We enjojed our holiday and would consider returning to the blanc palace.
A Great Place for the Family
Just got back from a cracking week at the Blanc Palace. The staff were very helpful, and the place itself is kept very clean indeed. The Reps did a fine job keeping our 4 year old entertained a couple of hours each day, evening entertainment was just o.k.
Many of the couples we spoke to had been coming back here years after year, that was some reassurance in itself. This is probably not the place if you have teenage children, but perfect for younger ones. The swimming pool is large and clean, and the focus of daytime activity. The pool bar is well run and not too expensive (under £3 for a pint of beer).
Sa Caleta is very quiet, however the local buses run every 15/20 minutes to slightly larger resorts like Cala Blanca and Cala 'n' Bosch, which have more restaurants/bars etc. There's a supermarket within 30 seconds walk to get your essentials each day - fresh bread, croissants etc.
We will definitely return next year.
Great family accommodation with everything you need.
Recently returned from a stay at the Blanc Palace during May 2007. A great place to stay if you are a family especially with younger children as they are well catered for.
Facilities wise the hotel has the following:
Indoor soft play area
Outdoor play area (park)
Gym / Sauna
The room was spacious and well equipped with the following:
Kitchen (incldung microwave fridge freezer, toaster, kettle, and hob) /
Bathroom (with hairdryer)
Safety deposit box (at a charge)
TV (with a selection of english channels, including CBeebies for the kids).
The accomodation itself is situation close to the main part of Sa Caleta where there are a small number of restaurants & bars. The only drawback of this location is that their are only 3-4 restaurants within walking distance & is pretty quite as far as resorts go but if thats what your after then this a great place to stay.
There is a very reliable bus service from just outside the hotel which will take you to the more busy locations of Ciudadela and Cala'n Bosch to name a few & the cost is only a couple of Euro's for a family. There is also a beach within a short walking distance along with a couple of small shops.
I can recommend hiring a car & travelling around the island as it is a lovely clean and natural island with plently of beaches to visit.
Overall a very clean hotel with nice rooms and friendly staff (who speak excellent English). Somewhere i would recommend to family and friends and would stay again in the future.
Good family holiday with 1 or 2 grumps
I have just finished a family holiday at the Blanc Palace and overall it is good family fun. It is ideal for young kids with plenty of activities for the kids. Our 2 girls aged 9 and 4 loved the mini disco and some of the shows were great. The reps put in a lot of work to keep the young ones amused. The apartments are extremely clean and it seems as if they have an army of cleaners on the books.
The grumps I have are similar to the review from the Edinburgh reviewer - the rule about reserving sunbeds was not adhered to even though I think if the management lifted towels once or twice a week it might embaress the usual suspects to stop doing it - obsessive compulsive behaviour was the order of the day as it seems they even had to get the same spot by the pool every day - you know who you were.
I also felt that some of the shows were put on too late for younger kids who are flagging by that time - the noise level can be high late at night but seems to tail off by midnight.
Some of the local restaurants are very nice but a bit pricey.
We hired a car as this broke up the holiday a bit and there is only so much sitting by the pool I can take and visited some lovely parts of the island - the view from the monastery is spectacular.
All in all, this is not my usual type of holiday but if you are looking to keep the kids happy you cannot go wrong.
Not quite as good as I hoped
We booked this hotel with Airtours based on the reviews from this site. Perhaps part of our problem was that I had read so many fantastic reviews that I had too high expectations, or perhaps its not the type of holiday my family enjoy - either way it certainly is not as fabulous as I anticipated.
Upon arrival you are given a welcome pack which includes a bottle of water, teabags, coffee, jam, bread and milk which was a lovely touch. Unfortunately we were allocated a room on the first floor, right beside the lift. I requested that we changed room as we have a 2 year old and I do not want to be kept awake by people going up and down, and this was done after a little eye rolling from one of the reception staff.
Our apartment was smaller than anticipated and it took a while for us to figure out the air conditioning, but we got there in the end when we worked out that the door to the balcony did not shut and lock properly unless my husband put all his weight behind it, only then would the air conditioning kick in. However it was a lovely touch having Cbeebies and Cbbc, very helpful when our toddler needed some down time.
What no-one has wrote about is the noise. As we were on the first floor, we had an apartment below us, an apartment above us and an apartment either side. For some very strange reason, the people in the apartment above us chose to move their furniture around at 11.00pm every night, VERY noisy and inconsiderate! Plus, we could hear them in the bathroom every night (using the toilet especially), it was so loud it woke me up most mornings.
The hotel was very noisy when people were returning to their rooms after the entertainment too - a few signs asking for consideration for fellow guests would be a nice idea.
The playpark was lovely and right behind the small pool, although there always seemed to be a number of un-supervised children running riot while their parents slept by the pool.
The soft play was nice, but far too warm inside with no air conditioning and in a wooden hut next to the playpark.
The pools were lovely, the toddler pool was perfect for, well, toddlers really! They could walk through the pool and there were plenty of toys for them to play with beside the pool. The big pool was also nice and rarely busy - the only thing that surprised us were the number of un-supervised children in both pools who clearly weren't old enough to be in a pool on their own (if you need armbands then surely you need adult supervision!).
The no-reserving sun loungers notice didn't work, at 8.00am the same people piled out of the hotel and placed towels on the same sun loungers they sat in day after day after day! Most sun loungers were reserved by 10.00am, but people were rarely on them - however if you weren't there to sit and burn all day then you would manage to find one to put your towel and lotion while you all went for a swim.
There is a commercial centre near the hotel with a couple of restaurants, and the Ocean restaurant just up the street. The chinese was lovely, and the Ocean restaurant was nice but a bit pricey. The restaurant in the hotel was quite nice as well, although everything came with chips, chips and more chips. I suppose thats what people wanted though?
There are frequent (and air conditioned!) bus services into Cituadella and Calla en bosch (hope that is spelt right!), both have a bit more going on although we only managed to go during the day.
The night time entertainment at the hotel was nice - my son loved mini-disco and looked forward to going every night.
We also went on an airtours organised boat trip on the Thursday, it was lovely and a nice final touch to our holiday.
The airtours staff were ok, they were friendly enough however we do have an issue with our customer services rep, who advised us that a missing piece of our baggage (our camera) was in Glasgow and we could collect it when we flew back. Upon arrival at Glasgow airport and after being directed to a different terminal by the cabin crew, being sent back to the original terminal by the desk staff then being sent to another desk at the back of the airport we discovered that no baggage was there for us and my very precious camera (and our spending money) was gone. VERY disappointed in the airtours staff regarding this.
I am sure that many people will disagree with this review - but it is honest and reflects my families disappointing holiday, spolied by the incompetence of airtours staff.
We arrived after midnight and were given a welcome pack which was a nice gesture. Found the hotel to be exceptionally spotless throughout. Room layout was perfect. Couldn't fault the whole place.
The resort VERY quiet, the Jolly Barrel bar 100 metres away seemed to be the place to go in the evenings..stays open late..and everywhere else is either a fair walk away or a bus ride.
We only ate at the hotel on the first night but found a few nice restuarants in the next bay..the 'sa quadra' steak house is superb.
We went for a quiet week and this is exactly what we got.
We would definetly consider this hotel again.
dont worry, its really good
Just returned home from a week at the blanc palce and it was great. Loads of entertainment for the kids, mini disco every night, daytime games, kids club, creche etc. Rooms are spotless and cleaned regularly. Staff allways there to help. Supermarket is just over the road and there is a couple of bars 2 minute walk away. Ok, here is my niggle. No pram/buggy access to the beach so its a 2 person job or if you are strong enough then just lift him/her up whilst in it and carry down the rocky steps. Food in the hotel could do with improving but still ok. Sa Caleta is very quiet with one decent restaurant called the ocean but service is very slow, i advise you to walk or taxi to satandria and go to the restaurant set into the cliffs or nacra bar overlooking the sea where you can walk the plank and dive in from about 20 feet. There are lots of other places to visit and the bus stops outside the hotel every 15 mins to take you up to cuitadella or down to calan bosch area. So its great for both adults and kids.
An Excellent Family Hotel
What a fab hotel!!!! for those of you going, you will not be dissapointed, especially if you have young children travelling with you. Its not a hotel for teenagers but suites from young babies to ten year olds. Entertainment at the hotel is brill, no need to go out
looking for it. The kids club is fantastic and so are the reps. So much to do. I would go back to this hotel, especially
"FamilyFirst" which is part of the hotel, so i will be booking one of them somewhere in spain because they do a couple across the balerics and mainland spain. Very expensive eating in and outside the hotel......No such thing as a cheap spain anymore is it? Our dearest meal was £74 Euros and that was two starters, two main meals and six lagers. Thankfully our little girl had a share of ours otherwise it would have been even more expensive. Our cheapest meal was around 36 euros and it was terrible so as the saying goes"you only get what you pay for"
However the restaurante at the hotel is lovely, especially their mixed piella and pork in chilli sauce. Word of warning TAKE PLENTY OF MONEY..
