BEST AND CHEAPEST WAY TO GET FROM PARIS TO IBIZA
by kirakay
Hello! My boyfriend and I would like to take a trip to Ibiza in the second week of June 2009. We're not sure what the cheapest and best form of transportation would be to get there. We will be coming from Paris. Can anyone please help with any advice on this? I would definitely appreciate it! :)

You could fly to Ibiza with a budget carrier, although not directly from Paris.
For example, Air Berlin flies from Mulhouse/Basel, Jetairfly from Brussels.
Alternatively you could fly to Barcelona from Paris and then take the Iscomar ferry.
www.whichbudget.com lists all European budget carriers.
Budget airlines offer cheapest fares if booked well in advance.
European train timetables are easiest to search on:

Get the Eurostar from Paris to London, the underground to gatwick and bag a seat one of the budget airlines such as Easyjet for about £49

Sadly, the Underground does not go to Gatwick ..... only to Heathrow.
The cheapest way of getting to Gatwick would be by coach.
Eurostar tickets can be very reasonable (from 29GBP one-way, I think) but they are limited in availability, sell out quickly and, like budget air fares, need to be booked well in advance. The booking 'window' is open 120 days before departure. www.eurostar.com

Then get the Gatwick Express (approx £25) and should you need to book the eurostar a good tip is to log on at 10.30pm GMT, that's usually when the operator releases the next allocation of tickets.

The Gatwick Express is the most expensive travel option (barring taxis), at 16.90GBP one-way.

Travel Tips for Ibiza
Discovering the island. (2001)
by Steve-H
Like most people i thought Ibiza would be all footie shirts and lager louts, how wrong i was, it's a beautiful island with wonderful scenery and great beaches. However if you do want lager and footie on all the tv's then you should try Sant Antoni after dark. The sea is clean and blue and home to an amazing variety of seafood all of which you'll find on the menus of beach front restaurants, fresh and incredibly cheap.
If its beaches you want then Ibiza has more than enough and they are all excellent, from Portinatx in the north to Las Salinas in the south all with fine sand and warm clear seas. Temperatures peak at an average of 27 degrees in August with 11 hours of sunshine per day, in the late summer the sea temperature rises even further. Making good use of the car we made it to some great places like the Hippie Market at Punta Arabi the beach at Benniras and my favourite Cala d'Hort where we always go to eat. The drive there reveals the beautiful interior of the island stretched over hills and covered in olive groves and fruit trees. The beautiful blue water and the view are worth the drive. Here`s Steff swimming at Cala D`Hort.
Paragliding Over San Antonio Bay
by joel_europa
There are so many activities to choose from in Ibiza. You name, and you’ll find it. My friends and I decided to go Paragliding, which was really cool. We took off in a fast boat that took us out into the San Antonio Bay, and then we got onto our parachute and we went out into the air. All three of us got onto the parachute, which made things fun. I really enjoyed it. I was able to see all of San Antonio and many of the neighboring islands. You must try it. Bring comfortable shorts.
Free nightlife
by JulesH about Funky Lounge
The worst thing about Ibiza is that with so many superclubs on the island, you could find yourself running seriously low on cash if you went out every night. Finding a free bar to go to is easy if you don't mind slumming it down the West End, and the sunset strip bars start to wind down about 4am, just as you're getting going! If the banging hard house in the superclubs is getting a bit much, or you want a bar which is a bit more exclusive, you can't go wrong at the Funky Lounge in the back room at Savannah's. It only opened around August 2002 and has been decorated in a Morocco meets New York chic kind of way. Dave the resident DJ plays some seriously danceable grooves, and every night generally has the feel of a party in someone's front room!! There are leather sofas and a low seating area covered in ethnic cushions where people could just lay back and relax. The whole place is painted a rich deep red colour, which is surprisingly restful yet exciting at the same time. Friendly staff included Paul and Claire behind the bar and Nick (the Canadian) keeping the place as clean as his mums front room! A cracking night out. Open from 11pm till 6am (approx) Men must wear a shirt of some description.

by JulesH about Ministry in Ibiza and DJ Magazines
As soon as you get to your resort, find a bar or hotel lobby which will no doubt have a copy of one of these free magazines. In San Antonio you can usually find them in the cafes along sunset strip. Not only do they contain articles and features on what's been happening before you arrived, but they also give the up and coming club listings and DJ lineups for the whole island, including the smaller bars and free parties! There's not much free on Ibiza, so take advantage of this.
Hire a car and really see the island
by LittleDee
A good way to see Ibiza is to hire a car. The island is very easy to get around and is well signposted.
We were recommended to use Autos Union who delivered and collected the car to our apartment - fantastic service.
