More about Hotel Bergantin Ibiza
Loved the Bergantin
Stayed here for a week & had a ball. Hotel staff mixed, some friendly...some not so, rooms excellent, food okay, situated about 20 minutes walk from the West End which we didn't mind as we grabbed a drink to take on the way. Only complaint is the bar shutting at 11pm! Would definately stay here again, only for 10 days next year! One moment please...WHOOP!!
Stayed at the Bergantin the last two weeks of July - two families with children; girls 16, 14, 14 & 12 and boy 11.
The Bergantin is a lovely, clean, well maintained, spacious hotel. We particularly enjoyed that there were plenty of different places to socialise and chill - two bars, two outdoor terraces, a large indoor lounge which although not partitioned had 4 distinct areas and several pools.
The rooms were clean and spacious and the maid service was excellent. Reception staff were extremely efficient and very pleasant. There is CCTV everywhere and safes in rooms at reasonable rates. Anti social behaviour isn't tolerated albeit I was pleased that the hotel recognised that people are on holiday and exercised a common sense approach.
There is a large self service restaurant with a good selection of well cooked food at every meal time and small queues if any. I heard a number of people moaning that lunch and dinner was the same every meal time. Well it is - a selection of soup, bread, salads, vegetables, 5 main courses (2 meats, pasta, fish and a.n.other), chips, a potato dish, a rice dish, desserts and fruit - and it will get boring if you pile a bit of everything on to 1 plate and form the same indivisible mess for every meal. There is also an excellent poolside snack bar serving a good selection of freshly cooked snacks from about 10.00am to 6.00pm but it does get busy and you can queue up to 30 minutes.
The pool areas are lovely, safe and clean with plenty of sunbeds and although towels are out early there was still availabilty up to about 10.00am. There are plenty of activities available - pool, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, football court, play area, gym etc
We were on all inclusive - san miguel, local spirits, local wines and soft drinks - were all speedily despatched and well received.
The entertainment wasn't great and the entertainment team's comedy show deserves special mention as being unbelievably bad.
The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the beach and central to the ample bars and restaurants of the bay area. A 15 minute walk around the bay brings you into San Antonio itself, which is buzzing; you can also catch boats which run every half hour until midnight for 2 euros.
Great holiday and I would certainly return.
loved the Bergantin
I went on a girlie holiday & stayed at the Bergantin, We were a bit worried after reading some of the reviews on the hotel, especially about the food but to be honest we got a cheap deal & all inclusive so weren't expecting the Ritz.....
On arrival we were pleasantly surprised at the look of the hotel, we'd taken the bus from the airport, takes about 30 mins, & seen some dodgy looking hotels along the way.....
Our room was massive by Ibiza standards, we each had a double bed & there was a baloney overlooking the main pool. The room was clean & although not fancy was more than adequate for us.
On to the food, Yes it is a bit boring & defiantly not fine dining but we managed to eat something at every meal, there was plenty to choose & for those who really can't live without burgers & fries there is the snack bar open 10-6 every day!!
The drinks are not measured so it is very easy to drink (far) more than you think...
The sun loungers are toweled up early everyday which can be frustrating but there are plenty & the smaller pool is a bit more relaxed, just adults so no pool games or the "sunshine 4 u, sunshine 4 me" kids song that you will get to know & love by the end of your stay!!!!
This goes on all day from 10am by the main pool so be prepared.
As for evening entertainment... Forget it. We only laughed at how terrible it was, really beyond anything you can imagine, If your looking for good hotel entertainment don't go here but if your going out for your laughs it really just adds to the fun factor!
I would defiantly recommend this hotel, it is close to the bars, about 10 min walk around the bay & was the best we saw in San An by a long stretch.
There were lots of family's with young kids here & plenty of older people who all seemed to sunbathe topless, If you can bear these minor downsides you will have a fab holiday without really needing to leave the hotel, well at least till 11pm when the all inclusive stops!
Good value 3*
I have just returned from The Bergantin,Ibiza and give my opinion as promised to the Hotel Entertainment staff.
i went with my 13 yr old son. The food is very good for a 3* good choice, fish and chicken every day. Unless you are a very fussy vegetarian I cant say anyone would have a problem with it.
The downsides are that this is primarily a "young" hotel, lots of 18 yr olds who come in the early hours of the morning. As there is no carpet in the hallways this can be very disturbing for those asleep. i did have to report my neighbours twice and they were cautioned by the manager. If you are not 18 ish then i would not have a room that overlooks the front of the Hotel as this is the most noisy. The quietest after 11pm is overlooking the pool.
The sunbeds are plentiful although alot of them are broken. The rooms are basic but clean. there is only 1 plug in the bathroom so you would need to get an extension lead from reception if needed.
The only thing that really upset me about this holiday was the lackof decent entertainment. it was the worst i have ever seen. This could be improved with more games in the pool ie waterpolo etc. they did play footballl everyday but this is very hot to be runnng around. At night we watched a parrot show, sat night was free bingo (a complete joke) to win a bottle of plonk! Grease night (mimed) Quiz night!!! I have to say that the 2 girls did put on an ABBA night and they really were very good. Its such a shame they didnt extend this to similar. There talent is wasted!
It is well worth a walk along the beach fron about 8pm to watch the sunset. Fantastic scenery.
There is a mini golf just across the road from the hotel, only 3 euros per person and lots of fun.
I would reccommend this hotel for good value 3* apart from the entertainment, apparently The Horizon Hotel up the road is good but I didnt try it as didnt find out till on the way home. Enjoy!
I Stayed at the Bergantin Hotel from 2 - 10 September and it was a good laugh for all of us. I was a little concerned as there was a group of 8 of us all between early and late 20's, and when coming home from a night out they would not be happy with us, however I didnt have any problems at all, the staff were really friendly and as long as you are not shouting along the halls then they are fine with you. However as there are no carpets in the halls and the doors tend to be slammed, things seem louder then they really are. The bars around the bay were only about 20 mins walk away, which when there are 8 of you, seems to take about 4 times longer, however we did find out there is a ferry boat on the beach near enough opposite the hotel at 2euros per person each way, which gets you from 1 side of the bay to the other if you're feeling partiuarly lazy, which runs up to about midnight.
If you need to get a taxi about, then ask reception to call it for you, and they come within minutes, which I thought was good, dont try and flag one down though as you may find yourself standing about for ages.
Was a really enjoyable holiday and the rooms were always clean, staff were friendly and the food was good, however the entertainment was not something I would boast about, as it was very basic, but worth a giggle while warming up for your evening out, as we all saw the funny side to the quiz, which revealed the answers in near enough every question (worth going to see that alone...bless!)
I would receommend this hotel to anyone, I certainly will be back next time I go to Ibiza, excellent value for money.
Excellent Value All Inclusive Hotel
We stayed at the Bergantin from Aug 20 to Aug 27 and myself, husband and son (8) all had an excellent time considering it was a late booking, the price we paid and a three star hotel. All Inclusive good - yes the food is a bit repetitive but if you can't find something you like you are far too fussy!! We ate out two nights - but only as we wanted to see more of Ibiza. Rooms fine - basic but clean. (Walls are paper thin!!) Unfortunately our room was located in the noisiest part of the hotel (Room 122 on first floor) which meant disturbed sleep from midnight to around 5.00am with returning clubbers; bin men collecting rubbish and air conditioning units outside window. Did ask to move but as so busy unable to accommodate. Pair of ear plugs could easily resolve this! Location good - a ferry across the bay for 2 euros takes you into centre of San Antonio and a ten munite walk from there takes you to Cafe Del Mar and Mambo etc. Don't miss the sunsets there (buy your drinks at a shop and sit on the beach in front of the bars - same ambience and atmosphere - lot less money LOL!!). Also went to Ibiza Old Town - not to be missed - good shops, restaurants and people watching! We booked accommodation independently with Travel Republic; flew with Thomson Fly and hired a car via Avis. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable time - weather fantastic, hotel OK and good value for money.
Alright for the money
Stayed at the Bergantin from 25/7/2007 to 8/7/2007
All Inc with Thomas cook.
Hotel overall is ok, a few issues with noise people coming back 04:30 onwards and slamming doors etc, walls also paper thin, and hallway very good at amplifying footsteps. CCTV all over hotel, operating zero tolerance for any bad behavior.
Rooms overall very good we were staying 2 Adults and 2 Children aged 9 and 12 Children had separate room with interconnecting door which was very handy. Both rooms had Air Con. Main room had TV which you paid a 10EU dep for the remote. Eng channels Sky News (How that got news channel of the year I will never understand), CBBC in the daytime. Safe in Wardrobe 5 EU dep and 2EU per day. Comments about 1 electrical socket true in some rooms however we had taken a 4 way trailing lead and did not need it as room had plenty of sockets. Hotel has had an extension in past and "newer" rooms had more sockets I understand. Rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels if required linen changed every 3 -4 days I think.
Entertainment was ok repeated during two week stay hotel catered for a mix of EU residents and entertainment introduced in English and German and acted in English. AJ, Sylvia and A N other worked very hard with keeping the kids entertained throught the day. Kids club run by Thomas Cook also worked and presented well.
3 /4 Pools all ok however smaller of the larger pools did have a unmarked step so care was needed.
Gym with running and various other cardio vascular machines free to use also sauna and jacuzzi which were extra.
Food repetitive for a two week stay but typical All inc fair and edible, certain times restaurant could be very busy and only 1 toaster in mornings always had a Queue.
Drinks and snacks served from 10:15 - 18:15 with short break Toasties burgers chips etc. Drinks San Miguel in 1/2 pt plastic mug and Fanta orange / Lemon Diet coke coke Sprite etc and selection of Spirits all day. (Must spend a fortune of plastic cups)
No problems with hotel staff all very hard working although very keen to close bar and stop serving at 23:00, lights out at 23:10 and no further drinks even if you wanted to buy them. From around 22:45 only 2 drinks per person so no stocking up on drinks.
Location ok 15 min walk from may Bay area 1 min walk across road and you are on small beach. further around from small beach larger beach and also water taxi to the main Bay area. Also bus stop outside hotel.
Short walk turning right down main street brought you to parade of shops and bars to watch the sports etc. Just after Cockney Rebel 1st Bar on RHS was shop selling newspapers etc and just after that a SPAR ! Turning Left more bars and Rodeo Bar etc.
Overall a great two weeks if they could do something with the noise and door slamming would be great.
Enjoy your stay.
Very good for the money!
Myself anf my girlfriend stayed hear in july and When we first arrived at the hotel our first thoughts of the place were, "OMG, it looks really run down", after walking down the path to the main reception i found that it was only the wooden walk way to the big pool area that need sum attention.
After checking in and looking arround the hotel i found that the hotel is really nice, one of the nicest 3*'s i have stayed in. I would put it down as a 4*. The Room we big with a really nice veiw, and very clean. The onlu downer is that the air con is really poor! although it is free so i cant really moan. The rooms were cleaned every day with out fail.
The Pool area was really nice, there ate three pools altogether. The big main pool, the little pool for the kids next to it and then there is another pool at the back by the bar. The area arround the big pool was very clean and tidy, and a 30 second walk to the BAR! Snack food was really really nice, but did get very busy arround mid afternoon, and only one ladey was working. The bar never really had a queue and let you have more that your one alicated drink per person at one time. only downer was the fact that all drinks searved were in small plastic cups!
Food, this was really the only thing that let the hotel down. The quality of the food was really good, freshly cooked every day and was always really well presented. But there was not really much choice, the menu was very much the same, Salad, pasta, chicken and chips, there were sum healther options but i didnt really tocuh them lol.
Location was really nice, san an bay is really a nice quiet part of the island, away from the clubbing and madness of the west end. You can Walk in to San an itself but if you walk to sunset strip for a sun set, every evening the walk becomes very anoying! You can get a ferry from the beach opposit the hotel every half an hour to the Key in San An wich is only E2, use it!
All together the hotel was really nice and well worth the money, only thing that let it down for myself was the food and the long walk from san an at 5 in the morning!
3* Wasn't sure.....
We wanted a cheap and cheerful long weekend. We hadn't stayed in a 3* for while having had a variety of experiences. Arrived after midnight Friday, guy on reception was welcoming, check in was very efficient and easy. Room clean and everything worked. Had recky next morning appears hotel has had an extension at some point, pool areas in both, plenty of sun beds, seating areas in sun and shade, staff on cleaning duty. We chose AI stay, food was excellent, plentiful and the right temperature, during our stay. Restaurant tables were continually being cleared by staff ready for next guests. Animacion not to our taste, but families with kids seemed satisfied. All staff we spoke to were extremely friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel as a good cheap option. San Antonio (2K) walking distance during the day, took bus to Ibiza town on checkout day (not to be missed), stowing bags in hotels locked storage.
