More about Hotel Hawaii Ibiza
Fantastic Hawaii Ibiza Kids loved it We loved it best in San antonio
We Stayed two weeks with our 9 month old child and 5 year old, the Hotel and Staff are Fantastic bending over backwards to entertain you and the kids throughout the whole day, the rooms are extremely clean and staff are polite, meals are fantastic you even have the choice to go all inclusive, we have been to San antonio for the last 5 years and this is the best we have stayed in, highly recommended for anyone with family or wanting a beach hotel that is not in the middle of all the noise from the excellent nightlife.
Fantastic Holiday, Great Location, Fabulous Hotel
Having read reviews of this hotel felt really worried about our impending holiday to the Hawaii Ibiza. Arrived mid morning on the 25th May 2007 checked into room all fine, I was not satisfied with the sofa bed for my kids so hotel staff arranged for this to be changed to full sized beds.
Food was amazing, so much choice and variety for each meal always something to suit everyone.
Hotel always put on great entertainment through the day and the evening.
Great location, right on the beach front easy access down to the great promenade which leads into the town for the nightlife if wanted.
Great for the old, poor for anyone else
Awful. Terrible. Old and musty.
True, its close to the beach and nightlife but for anyone under the age of 50 this hotel will be a turn off.
If bingo, dodgy caberet and watching the fat, tattooed guests strut their stuff is your idea of fun then this hotel will rate as 5 star.
Walls really are paper thin so you can hear your neighbouring guests snore.
Bar staff are unfriendly and food is unappetising. You really do have to order your drinks, then show your ID, then wait for the ignorant bar staff to go to the till, then return and sign the till receipt. If your idea of a cocktail is anything alcoholic with a rim of coloured sugar on the glass then you'll love it here.
We moved after 1 night to the Bellamar across the road and had a great time.
Even though it has apparantly been refubished and modernised, one lift was out of use for a week (we went back to check) so if you are infirm then GO ELSEWHERE.
Off to a bad start straightaway when we had no rep on the transfer from the airport to the hotel. Check in was appalling, only four rooms to be checked into which took over three quarters of an hour.
Had a 5th floor room overlooking the bay ,which was great, we were right at the end of the corridor so had a three-way view. Hotel is close enough to the West End to walk to but you far enough away not to get the noise . Rooms were basic, don't know what happened with the re-furb because it was still like something out of the 70's with a laminate floor added. Walls were like cardboard, could hear the bloke next door snoring regularly, and the doors don't close.....they slam. There are 3 lifts, one is a service lift, 2 main ones, one of which was out of order for the whole of the two weeks of our stay, the other worked VERY rarely. On our way out one day we could hear shouting from it so my partner prised the doors open a few inches to see a family from the neck up, stuck between two floors, and the alarm ( surprise surprise ) didn't work. Legged it down to reception to tell them so they could call the 110 year old maintenance man. Didn't wait to see how long it took to get them out because it upset me.
Just a warning as well to say there is building work in front of, and at the side of the hotel ( see pictures ) but apparently that's the norm around the bay.
Food was awful, dreadful, undercooked, swimming in grease, just basically bad. And when you come out of the hotel by the front entrance the smell of the kitchens justs hits you, I was wretching a few times. Ate out for all our meals after the first 3 days. Can recommend Taffy Jones restaurant for food, Welsh fella who cooks all the food himself, does a great roast. Don't go to the snack bar Trianna 5.0 which is joined to the Hawaii on the corner, as we saw the staff from the hotel , but in different uniforms, taking trolleys of food down there, so draw your own conclusions from that....
If you want to escape the dreary entertainment and even drearier staff in the evening , a really friendly family bar is 5 minutes away, called the Rodeo Fun Park. Just turn right when you leave the hotel and go past the few shops, round the corner to the right and it's on your left. The bar staff make a mean Sangria and the manageress is fab.
Will NEVER go to that hotel again, although the location is great, and we met some lovely people. Hello Deb, Dave & Zoe, and Marie, Alan ,Daniel and Lauren.
Ignore all the negative reviews-these people should pay & book 5 star hotels and stop moaning!Went to this hotel 2 years ago and after reading some of the reviews was slightly worried that it had gone downhill but this was certainly not the case.Arrived at 11.30am and had checked into our room within 5 minutes.Had a family room which contained a double and 2 single beds, plenty of room and had a large balcony as it was situated at the corner of the hotel with marvelous views across the bay to San Antonio Bay and the other way to San Antonio town.Went down to queue for a sunbed at 8.50am as they didn't open the pool until 9am and got one everyday for the 9 nights we were there. The food was very good, plenty of choice, always hot and didn't have to queue to get into the restaurant.Went all inclusive and had to show a card when ordering drinks and then sign for them but this wasn't a problem as previously stated in other comments and didn't have to wait long to be served.Abby the entertainment officer was excellent and got everyone involved in games during the day and his bingo bongo game at night.Nightly entertainment was ok and the hotel is in such a good position that if you want to go out you're at various bars within 2 minutes walk.Would recomend this hotel to anyone and will be going back again if not next year the year after as the kids loved it just as much as we did!!!
Really enjoyed this holiday ,we spent a week all inclusive at this hotel which we thought was good value for the money, the entertainment was good with some brill shows, they were good with the kids day and night it gave us a bit of a rest. The beach is just outside the hotel, and the views are great, the pool area does get busy but if you get there at 8.45 you should get a space if not there is the beach to go to. I would go back there tomorrow if i had the money as i enjoyed it that much, the staff are so friendly and helpful ..... well worth trying out to see what you think.
fab time had by all
we had a fab time, the room was very spacious - 1 double bed, 2 singles and a cot. and plenty of room for our luggage/toys and manouvering. it needed a lick of paint but that was no big hardship, it was clean. the meals weren't spectacular but plenty of choice and tasty enough. the staff were all more than helpful - exept possibly the reception staff. keep your eye on 1 waiter (dark skinned, young) he worked the floor i.e. pool, terrace and bar snack area. he liked over charging for drinks - and obviously pocketing the excess!! can't remember his name. the hotel was ideally located for us, it's just slap bang in the middle of sna antonio and the bay, so just walk out of the hotel either direction and a short walk brings you to which ever is your taste. (right for clubbing/nitelife and left for family orientated) the hotel evening entertainment finished around 1230 hours and the was peace and quiet by around 0100hrs. we heard the occasion shout from the promenade walkway which runs along the back of the hotel leading to s.a. and the bay, but nothing that kept us awake. there's abit of drug dealing just outside on the walkway but that seems to a be a problem throughout san antonio. at various points the dealers sit and wait of offer their wares!!!
for family entertainment we usually went to the bay, heading for "the bull" and a few other amusment/fun pubs. these pubs had bouncy castles, bungy trampolines, trampolines, mini roller coasters, etc. all geared up for the little ones. the bull was buy 1 get 1 free on drinks (3.50euro for 2 pints)
we were half board but ate out a few times: taffy jones'es welsh pub, paco's and glass were just left out of the hotel and along the road a short distance - all very tasty and well priced. but the best we had was "james browns" (left out of the hotel and just keep walking, about 15 - 20 minutes on the left hand side of the road. we paid 35 euro for 3 course dinner for 2 adults, 1 child ate free, and 5 pints, 3 soft drinks and a slush puppy!!! bargin
i would totally recommend the hawaii. one down side about it was the queuing to get a sun lounger every morning - the pool men are working around to clean until 0900hrs and you don't get anywhere near it until then, a queue was forming most mornings from around 0815hours. best tip is to go out via the front door and queue at the side gate - they open that first. and be nice to the pool men
not all good, not all bad!!
Good transfer to hotel and reception staff helpful and friendly with a quick check in. 42 euros for safety deposit box (bit steep!!) with only 3 euros back when you leave. lifts a nightmare from day 1. on 5th floor with lovely views of the bays and town, but had to walk the stairs many times due to breakdowns. swimming pool very deep, no shallow end. ok for swimmers but not for kids. children's pool quite small. first day we went to the pool, there was a massive dead cockroach floating in the small pool. kids weren't impressed. but got to say, didnt see another cockroach for whole of 2 weeks after that. not enough sun loungers for busy periods. our first week was when kids were still in school so it wasn't so bad. but our second week was school hols and it became a nightmare. fighting for sunloungers every morning with some people actually throwing towels over other people's heads to get a lounger. also very few sun umbrellas. usual entertainment around pool was ok, as was evening entertainment. no kids clubs though. parrot show was very good.
we went out of hotel most nights, looking for bars that catered for children, but there was not much to be found. one good place was the jolly roger, karaoke, quiz, bingo, etc, with bouncy castle and trampolines outside.
food in hotel was generally good, but expect to queue if you are there in the school holidays.
we walked up to san antonio town, which was totally not suitable for families. mad youngsters only! they walk past the hotel on their way to san antonio town in the night from about 12 on. you can imagine the noise! They then start coming back from about 5am onwards. same noise! We were overlooking an 18-30 hotel! need we say anymore! got to know the rave music they blasted all day by the end of the 2 weeks! Gave up trying to have a siesta!!!! Beaches are stunning. Bus service is good, easy and cheap but they have a siesta from 12.30-4pm. Land trains run trips up into countryside and vinyard. both wellworth doing. Rooms were basic. Beds were made every day . Rooms were not cleaned very often as the 3 rooms we had were very dusty under beds and in corners. We made the most of the holiday as we paid a lot for it. But we would never go back there again as the area caters more for youngsters who are there for the clubbing not for families.
not too family friendly
good flight and check in to hotel, reception staff very helpful. we'd paid extra to have sea view rooms, a total con as nearly all rooms overlook the bay! cracking view from room though. beds made daily although not much cleaning done in room! food was good, plenty of choice although no kids buffet which we found a pain as we were travelling with 3 kids aged 3,7 and 9. pool was very deep in places, not recommended for kids. you have to queue for sunbeds every morning by 9. not too bad first week as hotel was quiet, quite manic second week. the hotel is actually very close to san antonio town so we experienced a lot of noise from all the clubbers heading out around midnight. entertainment staff great, especially abby. water polo and other games during day plus mini disco in evening which kids totally enjoyed! outside of the hotel there is hardly anything suitable for families in the evening. lifts are a total nightmare, hardly ever working properly. got stuck in them a number of times and often ended up walking the 5 floors to our room. would recommend that you take the trip on the road train that leaves from near "the egg". driver is absolutely bonkers!!! would definitely visit ibiza again, just not this particular area.
Food is excellent. Location is also the best (beach just next to the hotel). The wait staff speak Spanish (little English, often wrong orders). The reception staff speak German, but are unhelpful and RUDE (The lift is out - DIE ANDERE!!!). They have a sign in Spanish, but refused to provide the same info in English for 2 young Brits (regarding taxis). The left lift is semi-functional (you have to fight your way out or walk). The right one is good, but was not working three times this week. The doors are incredibly loud, especially the English at 5AM (Brum). Eurovision singing at 6AM was most unwelcome (Mancusians). The A/C sucks smoke from other rooms, so everyone enjoys the cig (or not). The minidisco started at 8:45 PM and then they had BINGO for an hour in English/French/Spanish/German and then the entertainment at 10:30 or later. For small children, it was inappropriate. Cleaning of the rooms was at various times of the day and impossible to figure out. We had to request at reception and so it was 3x in a week (towels once). We left with 8 empty water bottles in the rubbish. A definite miss for next season.
