I prefered this one.
Adrian looks distinctly under whelmed.
Greetings! I need to book a summer trip to Ibiza/Mallorca...should I just do this solo or use a travel agent? I am in Chicago and no one seems to know what the best route is (big surprise)...any thoughts or recommendations of a good travel agent to arrange accomodation, etc, would be much appreciated...
Re: Travel Agent
I prefer avoid "travel agents" when I want to book my own vacations. You can book through Internet. I've some recomendations:
1). Use secure pages and book well know Hotels (Barcelo Hotels, NH, etc ···). You can obtain better prices for acommodation in other places (ask first).
2). Book Hotels in advance. One (two) month(s) will be fine (2 montsh if you are going to come in August). Choose a rigth location for you hotel depending on what you want to do. I mean: Sun&Beach, or local martkets, or Mountains, or diving, or nature, or nigth life, ···
If you want, you can find hotels in rural areas. There are called "agroturismos" they can offer a different point of view of the Islands.
About the connection fligths:
1). You can fligth to Mallorca from Madrid or Barcelona from everywhere (or many places ;-]). Choose your spanish destination airport (Madrid or Barcelona) in function your starting point. Once in Madrid (or Barcelona) you can hop to Mallorca or to Ibiza easily. I think that's the "best route".
2). There are many fligths betwen Madrid (or Barcelona) and Ibiza-Mallorca. But you can consider something like that:
"YourStartingPoint"-Madrid-Mallorca(spend a few days)-Ibiza(spend the rest of your free time)- Madrid - "Your_Home"
There are a lot of connection fligths between Mallorca and Ibiza.
4). Skip July-August, if you can. There are a lot of people everywhere. June or septemeber can be a better option. You can enjoy of the beach too and the weather is pretty warm.
Ibiza is well Known, if you want "nigth life" is the better option. Mallorca can offer a bigger offer about thekkings than Ibiza, maybe. Both places can offer Sun&beach. Rent a car; is a good option.
P.D.: When you decide if you want to visit us in Mallorca I can give you some recommendations about places "not to be missed".
Re: Travel Agent
I would not use a travel agent.
Iberia (Spanish main airline) has direct flights to Madrid from Chicago. From there you can easily get to anywhere in Spain.
Check out www.iberia.com
I recommend a Bed and Breakfast (rural) type of accomodation. Check out the following page:
There are really nice places to stay and feel more at home than in a hotel. You will be close to real Spanish people.
Re: Travel Agent
Hi,aer lingus is a cheapest airline,, you could go chicago to dublin then dublin to ibiza.....cost about 550 dollars chicago-dublin then about 200 dollars dublin ibiza.....
Travel Tips for Ibiza
The nightlife of Ibiza is its major draw, and therefore the owners of the clubs charge whatever they want for entrance into the clubs. For big name DJ nights, the price can be upwards of 50 Euro; just to get in the door. Thats why I am writing this, to save you money!! A simple solution to lower the price of the tickets is to NEVER buy them at the door. At the airport, people give out discount books and sometimes free tickets if you plead with them. If that doesn't work, then the night of your show, head to Ibiza Town Port. All you have t do is walk up or down the strip along the water and you WILL be approached by people selling cheaper tickets. I little haggle can sometimes save you 5-10 Euro from the price they offer, whihc is 5-10 Euro cheaper than at the door. So, do your pocketbook a favor and head to the port for your tickets.
While youre wandering................
The rewardsof a close up look at the countryside of Ibiza include a botanical treasury. If you are interested in plants and flowers here is a calandar:
January - mimosa bushes covered with yellow puff balls.
February - white and pink almond blossom, unforgettable as a blizzard; and on the hills giant blue iris, yellow gorse and tiny bee orchids.
March/April - fields of daisy, even daisy bushes, and pink field gladioli.
May/June - pomegranite trees with scarlet flowers, red poppies and bright yellow flowers of the prickly pear.
July/August - honeysuckle in yellow and cream, blue morning glory, and white and pink oleander. Bourgainvillea starts to sprout bright green leaves and scarlet flowers, by the beach the sea daffs push up from beneath the sand.
September - the white spike of the yukka plant, with geraniums , petunias and dahlias.
October - tiny narcissus and merendera
November - white and pink heather and rosemary bushes with tiny blue flowers.
December - orange and lemon trees bear fruit.
Get club tickets cheaper in advance.
One thing we learned pretty quickly is that you can get tickets for most of the big clubs in advance on the street at various vender for 5 to 10 Euro cheaper. The clubs are expensive so every little bit helps. Ask around- someone will know.
Privilege: The Biggest Club in the World
The largest club in the world! This fact alone should tell you a lot about it. It is dedicated to partying even boasting a swimming pool! So large that even the bathrooms have resident DJs! There are three main rooms all playing different types of music so you're bound to find something you like.
Manumission on Monday nights is probably the most anticipated event every week. The club goes all out in generating another world with its decorations and entertainment. Though it's expensive, it will be worth it to at least go once in order to understand all the hype.

Wednesday: Meganite - A huge party as the name suggests.
Thursday: Sinners - One of Privilege's general party nights.
Friday: Ibiza Rocks - A great and well-known party playing some excellent music!
Saturday: Pasi?n de Ibiza - DJs born & bred in Ibiza are ready to hit the decks for your musical enjoyment.
Sunday: La Mascarada - A crazy party every Sunday! Dress Nicely
We hired Moped for a day to see a bit of the Island. A very cheap way to get to out of the way places, but make sure your bike comes with a helmet, as they are not the most considerate of drivers. I actually came off mine, see the dangers & warnings section
