More about Portinatx Hotel

Club Portinatx Hotel

by TripAdvisor Member samharb

We booked through TravelRepublic.
Excellent hotel - just returned. May 2008
This was our first all inclusive holiday. Brilliant experience.
Went with a 14 and 8 year old.
Hotel - fantastic position, on hillside so there a some steps, hotel has its own beach where there are free kayaks, windusurfing, take a bread roll down and feed the fish, good snorkelling.
2 pools - quiet one lower down grounds, the main pool is direct to the snackbar/bar can get quiet noisy when busy with the kids on the airbeds etc.
Facilities - tennis, football, basketball, volyeball, cycling, pool, table tennis, shooting, darts, kids clubs.
Entertainment staff - brilliant - they are working from 10am until 11.30pm everyday, with a smile on there face at all times. Bingo in 6 languages!! Great shows we watched Moulin Rouge, Blues Brothers, Chicago, Disney. Lovely people. Great hotel dance everybodys gets on stage to dance at the end of the day.
Food - excellent - Restaurant - salads everyday for lunch/dinner, meat and fish cooked fresh at every meal, desserts, wine/beer soft drinks etc. breakfast is cooked or continental. Snack Bar - chips, burgers, toasties- You can actually eat from 8am until 9pm and drink alcohol form 10am until 12.30am(night). Our kids are good eaters - if you have fussy eaters there is pasta/chips at most meal times - but no drummers, twizzlers etc.
Rooms, good decor, phone, tv with british news channels, 4 single beds eaily fitted in with space, shower over the bath. Maids changed the sheets once duyring our 9 day stay, would change towels daily if req'd, beds made daily - very polite.
Excellent hotel and experience, we drove from the aiport at 2am in the morning, roads are good, Portinatx easy to find, Hotel singposted on the left as you drive into Portinatx, newly laid tarmac road, about a 10-15 min walk into the village.

Cala Xarraca

by DPando

amzing just one word!!
Maybe the best beach on the island for me
located closer to the road that runs to portinatx town ..(2 or 3 km before)
Excellent place to relax .great sea bottoms ready to dive in it .. not so much patronized by people offers an excellent place with a bar where have a meal or drink something

Cala En Serra

by DPando

The road runs from Portinatx town straight to Sant Joan de Labritja.. turn left and you will see a small and uneven road that runs over a cliff where you will glimpse two beaches 200 m down there.. its not hard to steer till there and park 30m from the beach
the first one its more crowded but if you try to walk among the rocks ( si funny at the same time) you enjoy of a lonely beach just for us (as in my case were)

overcrowded

by TripAdvisor Member agila61

We have just returned fron Club portinatx. Food was good for a three star, but the hotel was overcrowded, not enough room on patio in the evening for the show. The pool area was overcrowded with too many inflatables in the pool. No life guard , it was a bit of a free for all. The rooms were too small when they had four beds in them. The maid service was very poor, with linin not being changed, sometimes bins were not emptied. We won't be returning. However having our own beach was nice.

No spanish food and incredibly expensive

by TripAdvisor Member LondonRealist

We have just returned from a week's stay in Portinatx.

The resort has a few fabulous beaches and lovely crystal clear waters that are fabulous for kids.

What we were expecting was a quiet, idyllic holiday. This was mostly the case during the daytimes, but in the evenings, the two/three large hotels were spewing out exceptionally loud evening entertainment on their terraces. Due to the location of the resort, (and in particular, the Portinatx apartments) the sound carried. If you are a fan of the Birdie Song and the usual dire evening entertainment that the major tours operators of the UK seem to believe we crave, you'll be in for a treat. Otherwise, consider booking your holiday elsewhere. Also, if you are a fan of wearing a football shirt constantly and insist on having tomato ketchup with everything that you eat, this may be the place for you.

That brings me on to the other considerable shortfall of Portinatx. The restaurants. Firstly, it is impossible to find ANY authentic Spanish food in Portinatx. There is the Jardin Del Mer which has a reasonable fish selection, but there's not a tapas bar in sight. The other restaurants appear to be exceptionally lazy both with regard to service and quality of food. I'm convinced that Portinatx must have a considerable market share in the chest freezers of Spain. The menu's were very bland and almost everything we ate tended to have a frozen ready-meal aspect. Chicken, beef, pork chops etc etc...... In addition to this and more importantly, the cost was astronomical for the food that was proffered. You are effectively a captive market and they fleece you handsomely for it. For example a basic lunch, 2 toasted ham & cheese sandwiches, a 'tuna salad' (1/4 can of tinned tuna on top of a load of tired lettuce) and two small beers and a bottle of water - €37!!! Equivalent of £34 at todays exchange rate.

This was not exceptional... You will find that the majority of restaurants run in a similar vein. Very expensive for very unremarkable food. Even if you are self catering, the local supermarkets appear to have adopted a similar attitude. Extortionate in every respect,

We will not be visiting Portinatx again.

Beautiful position and layout

by TripAdvisor Member Gail&Dave

We moved here after a disappointing stay at another hotel.
The hotel was quite large but as the rooms were all set out on different levels /terraces it didn't feel claustrophobic.
The room was lovely, very clean and fresh. And the balcony was not overlooked at all.
Food was a high standard but no vegetarian options so I was a bit stuck. Restaurant was very friendly though and informal re seating arrangements so that was good. The red wine was good.
The only other problem was the animacion noise levels (megaphone) though they did an excellent job. You could here them whilst walking to the centre of Portinatx 10 mins away.
They have a small private beach/ bay which is lovely and despite the Jelly fish invasion, on a couple of days, was idyllic. We tried Kayaking (included in AI) and there was also a beach bar.
There are lots of steps so probably not suitable for all but it was popular with Spanish and Germans alike.
We really enjoyed our stay here.

not suitable for small children

by TripAdvisor Member familywills

We started our stay here in a room directly above the entertainment bar where you could hear everything. We have a two year old son and we obviously didn't want to be up every night till the early hours so we decided to move rooms. We paid a further £60 to move to a family room which was further away from the entertainment. On talking to other families, they all had to do the same,so you wonder whether this is a handy money making scheme that they put all young kids by the music, knowing that you'll want to move.
There are ALOT of steps here, there is not one route that you can take without having to climb alot of steps.
The pool area is small and certainly not suitable for toddlers as the edging is very slippy,so you have no alternative but to spend your days on the small private beach, which in itself is lovely, water very clean and shallow. However, there are limited amounts of canoes and the bar which was only 30 odd steps up was shut,so in order to get a drink on your all inclusive basis, you had to climb over 200 steps on a very sharp incline,so most people just bought their own and took it with them.
The food was nice, the restaurant was not particularly child friendly.lot of high chairs with no straps, not much choice of childrens food.
Its about a 20 minute walk (again on an incline) to portinatx itself, which has about 3 shops to mooch round.
The entertainment was good, quite enthisiastic staff, very interested in children.
overall the place is clean and tidy but it's definitely not suitable for small children.

great holiday for teenagers and adults who like joining in

by TripAdvisor Member jue372003

travelled to the hotel august 07 as other people have stated this hotel is built into a hill makes for great views of portinatx ,down side lots of steps every where so a problem for buggies and people with walking difficulties, what makes this hotel so nice is the food the selection is very good but remember you are in spain not blackpool you get a varied selection of english, german ,italian, and spanish food The entertainment was some of the best i have seen at any spanish hotel we where there for 14 days and there was a different show every night ,if your kids like dressing up and being on stage they will love it the entertainment team encourage children to take part {Idont now who got the biggest kick out of this the kids taking part or the parents watching their offsprings} lots of games during the day a great way of making friends and breaking the ice lots of different nationalities english, german, russian, italian and spanish lots of good laughs tyring to understand each other, one complaint we had with the hotel was the size of the rooms some of the rooms are too small for four people on arriving we were allocated one of these rooms complained and was given a different room even so with grown up kids was still a bit cramped saying this you dont go on holidays to sit in your room after the first few days never saw the kids much they were off with thier new found friends , bliss lol!!!! in summing up if you are going on holiday to let your hair down mix with people and are not looking for 4 star luxury this is the place to go one word of warning ladies not many shops to browse around ,good news men you can keep your cedit card in your pocket ,thanks to the entertainment team and all families from london ,leeds, wales, and san sabastion for making the holiday a nice experience .george ,julie, zoe ,and martin

Portinatx

by bugalugs

Portinatx is situated on the north east side of the Island of Ibiza. This is my husband and son with the bay in the background.

There are three beaches in Portinatx. The first beach is the largest and is nearer to all the hotels, souvenir shops, and restaurants. Further along is a quieter more secluded beach, although it is smaller it is still very nice and sandy. There are also a couple of restaurants there. The third is a more rocky type beach. This photo of my husband and me is taken on the road going into Portinatx.

Another view of the bay.

And another view!.

The main beach in Portinatx.

The resort caters for many different tastes. There are pedaloes for hire as well as a windsurfing and diving school. We went in the sea and it was wonderful and safe.

Portinatx has a games centre with a bowling alley and pool tables.

There are bars with music, restaurants and many of the hotels have entertainment. I would certainly recommend that if you are staying elsewhere on the island, that you either go on an excursion to Portinatx or if you have a hire car to visit there, it is well worth it. Apparently some of the scenes from the musical South Pacific were actually filmed here in this bay.

Portinatx, Ibiza

by seddy

This is the 2nd time we have visited Ibiza. Both times staying at the El Greco hotel.
This is a fantastic hotel for families. I wouldn't recommend it for couples wanting a quiet holiday.
It's an All inclusive hotel with a private beach and own water park.
Portinatx is a very quiet place with only a handful of bars and shops.
It's far enough away from San Antonio for you to think you're on a different Island but close enough to visit if the mood should take you.

Portinatx

by jules64

I am off next week for an 11 day holiday with my family and am wondering what Portinatx is like. Has anyone else been there? I believe its quiet.

Looking forward to some replies.

Thankyou.

Re: Portinatx

by DrSlump

Hi,

I guess you are referring To "Cala Portinatx". It's locatend in the north side of the Island.

The distances in Eivissa are short. I recommend to you rent a car and drive to diffrent Calas.

Yes it's a quiet place even in August.

I've been working there. Not for relax. Enjoy it!.

Salute

Portinatx is a complete mini resort, ideal for families, and one of Ibiza's best known beauty spots with three good, sandy beaches to choose from.

The largest beach S'Arenal Gros is in the Bay across from the main Coach Park; little S'Arenal Petit, which is more private, is around the corner from the rocky promontory to the left. The third is Playa Porto Beach, surrounded by little pineclad hillocks, it is in a little cove at the end of the main road. All these beaches have shallow water and are excellent for bathing.

We don't like it too busy that's why we didn't book Ibiza Town but we don't want too be really bored after a week, although the place souns gorgeous.
