More about Sol Ibiza

Sol Ibiza

We are a couple aged 26 and 30 and wanted a quiet holiday but with the option of going out if we felt like it.

We arrived at about 10:30am and were able to check in immediately and were given a sea view room on request. Rooms are clean and tidy and maid service daily. For the first 4 days we didn't have any problems with noise and wondered if we had neighbours. We did, but they were considerate. On day 5 a couple with a 2 year old arrived next door and we could hear the baby in the mornings but it wasn't too bad. The main noise was in the bathroom. You could hear every word!

The pool area is very nice and it was never busy or noisy in the pool. Perhaps because most guests are over 50. Sunbeds are a real issue, despite the hotel rules stating no reserving of sunbeds! Most people got up at 7am to put towels on beds but didn't return to sit on them until hours later. This was very frustrating! The reps were telling other guests to remove the towels and hand them to reception but this didn't happen, maybe nobody had the [--]! We did though and got into an argument, luckily we were in the right.

Santa Eulalia harbour was very nice but never too busy. Liquido bar was great, chilled out tunes and lovely staff. Mirage was good for live music from Ricky G. Don't eat at the chinese restaurant, it was anything but chinese. The dimsum was delicious but main courses were unpleasant. We should've realised as it was always quiet but we had a craving!

We went into Ibiza town one night and had a great time. It's only 3 euros on the bus and runs on the hour every hour. Check times coming back as we tried to come home at 3:30am but it didn't run at that time. I can't remember the names of the bars but it was a really great atmosphere. Bought tickets to El Divino but there were only about 50 people in there. Guess it's too early in the season.

We did a boat trip over to Formentera. Might be worth hiring a bike or scooter to explore. We didn't but had a delicious lunch and laid on the beach for a few hours.

Almost forgot to mention the food in the hotel. Breakfast was lovely but it's difficult to get that wrong. Eggs are very runny unless you request further cooking. Dinner was OK. We're not fussy eaters and don't want to go on holiday to eat chips and lasagne. For this reason we struggled sometimes. Some of the meat was overcooked and not that tasty. However, we always managed to fill our bellies with something.

Both my boyfriend and I had a massage which took place outside near the pool under a gazebo. It was lovely and felt amazing having the wind whipping through.

All in all, we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.

Nice hotel in a nice resort

by TripAdvisor Member kimnrich

Me and my boyfriend both in our 20's travelled to the Sol Ibiza for 1 week commencing 8 September 2006. Having read good reviews on trip advisor I was looking foward to our holiday and we were not disappointed. We e-mailed the hotel 2 weeks before arriving to request a high floor, double bed, pool and sea view and we got exactly what we asked for. Not all room have pool or sea view. The view was excellent. As mentioned on other reviews the walls were very thin. We could hear very easily the flushing of next doors toilet and the shower. The food was good with plenty of choice and I am a fussy eater. The hotel is clean and in good condition. The resort of Santa Eulalia is lovely with good restaurants and nice bars overlooking the marina. Quickest way to get to the resort is to turn left out of the hotel and walk through small woods, which is very dark in the evening! and this will take you to the bars/restaurants around the marina within 10 minutes. This hotel is not for groups/couples wanting a lively holiday. There were not many couples younger than us nor many families, but if you want a good hotel in a lovely location in a great resort, than this hotel is a good choice. Would definetly recommend to others.

Great hotel in probably the best resort in Ibiza

Decided it was time for a visit to Ibiza again after a 7 year gap. Booked hotel direct with Sol as they seem to have the best rates. The hotel is situated about a 10 minute walk away from the main town and marina. A few hundred yards past some new developments and you are on a pleasant promonade that takes you past the luxury yaughts and leads straight into town. The resort is modern and friendly with nice bars cafes and restaurants. The shops are not the usual spanish resort kind with shop after shop selling the same old rubbish but a good mixture of allsorts. The hotel front looks a little tired but as soon as you step into reception this is forgotten. The hotel is very clean, well kept and the staff are very friendly. Our room (250) overlooked the garden and sea. The sea view was magnificent and it was really nice going to sleep with the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks. As mentioned many times the walls of the room are thin, and the bathroom a little cramped but this didn't spoil our holiday at all, infact 99.9% of the guest know about the thin walls and tend to be carefull to keep the noise to a minimum. You get a free fridge and safe in your room. The food was good, sometimes a little cold but they do provide a microwave. The selection was good and the quailty superb. The show cooking area provided freshly cooked steak, fish etc etc. Try the little terrace area overlooking the garden, the perfect way to eat. The outdoor pool area was well kept and the pool very clean. The indoor pool was nice and warm although the decor in this area could do with updating along with a good clean of the roof ! The gym, whirlpool, steam and sauna facilities are excellent. The evening entertainment was typical of what you get in a spanish hotel, but the bar area was very comfortable to relax in if you did fancy watching it. The bar prices are reasonable for a 4* hotel. The prices overall i found to be expensive in Ibiza compared to other spanish resorts but so what...your on hoilday. Overall a very good hotel, forget the thin walls and you won't regret a visit here. Staff amongst the best i've encountered in spanish hotels. Lastly the temperature was 21 - 27 for the week, perfect. I won't be sweating it out in the hot summers in spain anymore. October is the perfect month to go if you want a relaxing and quiet holiday.
