Olive trees in the main square
I would like to stay in Forementera in june. I'm looking for a place not too expensive and just for myself, I'm travelling alone. What are your suggestions.
I also like to meet people over there, so if any one has interest in meeting a Belgian ...
Re: Cheap residence
Formentera is probably my favourite place on Earth. :)
It won't be easy to find cheap accomodations in high season there, at least from what I know. I stay at the Hostal Maysi and a room costs something like 90 euros in the summer.
Please do share your research, as I am always looking to find good deals.
Feel free to mail me if you have more specific doubts.
Travel Tips for Isla de Formentera
Formentera is famous for its beautiful sunsets. Almost every evening the sun vanishes dramatically behind the horizon.
OK, I modified this picture a bit with photoshop. But it's definitely worth to stay a little longer at the beach to see the spectacle.
Cap de Barbaria Defence Tower
Usually people visit Cap de Barbaria because of its well-known lighthouse. Only a few people notice a well preserved defence tower 500m away from it (if you are looking at the lighthouse, the tower is on your left-hand side).
The tower can only be reach on foot but the walk is definitely worthy also because of the wonderful panorama you'll get on the central part of Formentera and on the lighthouse when going back.
As I've said, the tower is well preserved, but it is not possible to enter it.
My favourite place
This is the beach I love most, a small spot between red rocks. During the high season, it's quite a prize to find a place where to lay on the sand! The water is very clear here and the wonderful view makes you breathless.
Far de la Mola
The highest point on the island is La Mola...if you look at the map of Formentera as if it is a strange shaped man playing golf, La Mola forms the head of the golf club. At the end of the road, a lonely lighthouse sits atop a rugged coastline of cliffs, rocks and white-crested waves.
Es Pujols is defined to be a little village crowded by italians one more time, with a real touristy seafront narrow boulevard but nice and cristal clear waters beach in front. Lots of terraces to sit and take a spirit and so many shops... Avoid it if you dont like corwds and the usual people behaviour in places like that. I just liked the beach but its an easy work in Formentera where all strands are so so beautifull
