Travel Tips for Isla de Formentera

Some lovely places to discover

by bepahe

Most of the people seem to enjoy going like herds of sheep to the same touristy beaches, but Formentera offers much more, only if you are prepared to discover it. These are some of the places you should see:
- Cala Em Baster, near Sant Ferran, a well hidden beach with small caves, very calm and great to dive.
-Hiking along the " antigua Calzada romana" starting in Es Caló following the coast up the hill. You will discover some caves along the way and you will enjoy breathtaking views of the blue sea.
-If you want to see a fantastic romantic and relaxing sunset, you must definitively go to the "Estany del Peix" instead of the "Big sur life" where all the young people are concentrated.

Sant Francesc Xavier's church

by maykal

Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of this church (it was 10 yeasr ago, after all...and bearing in mind that I was only 13 at the time, I think ice cream was rated higher than church history!), but it is by far the largest building on Sant Francesc Xavier's square...I don't remember entering, but it looks quite old so might be worth a look.

Es Calo

by maykal

In 1993, Es calo was a very samll place, consisting of just a few beach cafes and rows of fishermen's boathouses made of driftwood. The pebbly beaches had kept away the hordes, which is why I quite liked the place. On the other side of the peninsula, less than a kilometre away maybe, lies Platja de Migjorn where a couple of large hotels line the long sandy beach.

Cala es morts

by DPando

Cala es morts (death men beach) its one of the most fascinating beaches in Formentera, for sandy peeble beach lovers this is the one..
The approach is from Escopinya resort on the main route of the island.. park your car at the end of street and walk to the main beach , from there turn left, leave the strand at your back and go straight by the top of the cliff (easiest path) . All these pictures were taken on the way to Cala es morts..

The Caribbeans in the Mediterranean Sea

by valec

Formentera is such a wonderful place...
I visited it for just one day but I promised myself that I would come back soon to stay longer.

Its beaches are white and the sea is clean and turquoise.
It's the perfect place to swim and sunbathe, maybe after a crazy night in Ibiza (it takes only 30 minutes by boat from Ibiza to Formentera).

If you have time and some money to spend, I would suggest you to spend one week in Ibiza and then another one in this little paradise, to relax and enjoy the beauty of one of the few uncontaminated spots remaining in the Mediterranean Sea.
