There are 18 rent a car companies on the island, and most have their offices around the port. Book your car in advance for just in case, you never know how packed the island might be the day of your visit. Apartamentos Es Pujols(C/ de roca plana) has a pool and is near to all necessary services. Now, said this, there are 150 accomodations in all on the island. You should be able to find the one that fits your needs. Formentera is a very beutifull and peacefull place to spend a few days. For just in case: www.turismoformentera.com.

Olá / Hi

Despite the fact that Formentera is not a very massive destination, in August it's packed with tourists, mainly italians. The most popular spot would be Es Pujols, but notice that the island is only 15 km long, so everything is near. No need to rent a car at all. Rent a scooter, in your case scooters. That's part of the fun of being in Formentera.

It's my favourite place in the world.

As for accomodation, search. It´s an expensive destination.

Travel Tips for Isla de Formentera

Rent a bycicle!!!

by bepahe

Formentera is a small island and can thus be visited by bycicle instead of the noisy motorbikes that all italian tourist ride. It is cheaper, more ecological and healthier and it gives you the opportunity to discover the island at a human speed. By all means try it. You can find bikes to rent in many places in the port of La Sabina for about 5 euros the day. You can get to many beaches within 10km and you should also try the "Via verdes" and discover the inside landscape with the windmills, sheep and fig trees.

Llevant

by maykal

For me, Llevant is the best beach on the island. White sand, rough seas, nobody around...we'd been told about this beach by a Scottish couple in our hotel. So you can imagine our surprise when we met them there one day...they came strolling past and paused to chat...nothing wrong with that, you might think...but we didn't really know where to look, as they were not wearing any clothes and it was not a pretty sight!!

The capital: San Francesc

by Bernd_L

Formenteras capital San Francesc actually is a village with about 1.500 inhabitants. Only a few narrow streets with small houses surround the nice square 'Placa de sa Constitucio' where you find the town hall, the cathedral, the post-office and some restaurants.

In the adjacent pedestrian area are a few shops and some hippies sell their self-made jewellery and foulards to the tourists.

In the summer you can sit here in a small bar and watch the activity on the street while sipping a 'hierbas' - a traditional schnaps made from herbs.

Sunset on the beach

by AlexDJ

One of the MUST in Formentera is to have an aperitif drink after a long day spent on the beach, while the sun is going down. There are a several "chiringuitos", a kind of bar on the beach, where people go to celebrate the sunset drinking some good mojito and listening to some music played by the resident DJs. Of course you can dance, sometime on the tables, take pictures to the beautiful landscape, before coming back home to get ready youself for the night. The most known places to do that are the Blanco, located on km 8 on the road to La Mola, the Blue Bar, very close to Blanco, wich in the night becomes a restaurant and the wonderful and amazing Big Sur, located on the beach of las Illetes, on the north west of the island.

Cala Es Morts first impressions

by DPando

Buddies such a place, looked amazing on the spot.. really great beach with lots to see over and under the water, so many fishes, rocks,,wow amazing !!

the beach is a nudist one as usual in Formentera but there's always people with his/her swimsuit, there's no problem , people use to be so tolerant and there arnt bad eyes on anybody for this reason... this is the best of Formentera ...everybody respect to others..
